Warning: long economic post

I am doing a little research. There appears to have been an increase in drop rates in dungeons throughout Xen. I shouted a couple of times over the weekend. I had noticed during the week that I had seen a number of Xen shots for 2.1-2.9 mil. Given the lack of kron sinks in the game, it is almost a given that prices will increase over time. Generally, the only time you see an decrease in the price of xens is when there is an increase in supply.

Up until this morning, I had not got a xen drop in almost 3 weeks. I do not level frequently so I did not think this was a big deal. I was working on the incubator part of the pet quest. I finished the leather farming (no xen drops and apparently regular leather drop rate of 3-4 an hour). I was working on the SSF farming portion and received 4 xen drops in the space of an hour. After one I was happy. After 2 I was shocked at my good fortune. After 3...well, something was up. I have never received more than 2 xen drops when solo aoeing in the course of an hour (outside pox and christmas dungeons). After canvassing about 15 self-selected responders, 13 out of 15 stated they had an increase in the amounts of xen drops. While this is a small sample, there seems to be something to this. I know many people are greedy and try to take advantage of this before knowledge of it becomes wide spread. For those of you who are not too greedy to reveal any secrets, what have you experienced? Have you seen an increase in xen drop rates? When did it start?

The only theory I have received on this is that someone whispered me and said there was a patch update sometime after the event on Saturday. Thoughts? If there is an increase, what do you think this means to the economy of Xen? Will people shift value to another asset like leather?

Please do not panic. This is not confirmed as of yet. Even if it is confirmed, there is no reason to panic. Panic leads to economic instability and you not being able to buy what you want. We have had xen farms before and it did not ruin the economy. I wonder if this is the increased drop rates in dungeons that gms were talking about ages ago.

Edit: Theory has been debunked. There is no verifiable increase in xen drop rates in dungeons. While xen drop rates remain higher in dugneons than on other maps, there has been no verifyable increase in drop rates over the weekend.

It's hard to say if xen drop rates have increased or not. I experience times of unusual luck quite often when i'm really focused on something. I got 2 xen drops within an hour the first time i aoed emperion and aser over a month ago. When i was aoeing cobalt caves I got one xen drop a day as i aoed lvl 1 and 2, but it ceased when i got to aoeing the 3rd level of the cave. That stopped about 1 1/2 weeks ago. When farming for leather with a friend we got a xen drop in one map, then went out of our way to go to another map out of boredom and when i killed a random aggro snake out came another xen. That was 2 weeks ago.

All i have to say is if the drop rate has increased I wouldn't notice. If it hasn't increased then people are just getting lucky.

a loooooooooooooooooooong time ago, a few weeks before the sleepless grave dungeon came out i guess, the gms told us that in all dougeons, that xens drop rate is increased

and since more people aoe library now, and since u can kill there fast, and theres alot of monsters there to kill, xens drop there the most~

From my own experience, I've always gotten a better drop rate of Xenstones in "dungeon maps." (ie. Mines, Cobalts Cave, Library etc). I remember back when the Library first opened with mobs, Xenstones used to drop pretty regularly - About 1-3 Xenstones every couple of hours. Personally, I don't think the xenstone rate has increased. I'm going to have to go with Wardomic on this one and agree with his statement about not noticing it if it has increased or if it's just people getting lucky.

There might be something to this Ward. I didn't do much this weekend because of IRL commitments, but the hour I got to aoe in temp yielded 2 Xens, which is pretty astronomical for me. So maybe it wasn't just confined to the dungeon maps and the GM's decided to have an unofficial and unannounced "Xen Boost Weekend." They DO have that power after all.

I will test this more out later today when I get home from work. I am aware of more frequent drops of xens in library and other dungeons in the past and generally found xen drops to be higher in dungeons.

If anyone has a character that has aoed a dungeon in the past 24 hours for at least an hour, would you consider posting here if you had normal or abnormal xen drops? It might take me a couple of days to test since my playing time is limited.

I can accept it if I and a bunch of others that responded to my shouts had peculiar streak of luck; but until proven otherwise, I will not accept that it was just luck on my part until I get some more subjective and objective evidence.

Interesting thought on Xen Boost Weekend. That would be so much easier than hosting Pusuit of Xen.

I will test the following dungeons that I am able to aoe:

1. Mines
2. Labyrinth
3. Library Level 3 or 4
4. Cobalt Cave
5. Lost Brynhild if I can find a healer for my Rogue

I will try to play/aoe for at least an hour and will set a timer. Normal xen drops should be one to two an hour. Anything above that will be noted abnormal. If I average 2.5 xen drops or more, I will consider that there may have been an increase in drop rate. Feel free to email IGN at Himoses if you want to contribute anonymous results or post here if you have current results and don't mine revealing them. Please include map, your level, number of xen drops (even if you get none), and approximate time spent playing on that map.

Like pooch said, the GMs annouced that the xen drop rate in dungeaons was increased some time ago...more than 4 months I think.

I am talking about an increase over the weekend. I have played for almost two years and am already aware of the higher drop rate in dungeons before.

Keep in mind that the sheer volume of kills is a factor in your experiment. One or two Xens from AoE in an hour of less than the entire map is pretty substantial. (Or maybe things have changed alot since I played last?) Also if you must share a map it might be good to ask other parties for the information, although it would be up to them to be honest about the whole thing.

I think this is only matter of luck. and the drop rate is the same. If everyone got 4 xens everyday. then we can say that there's a better drop rate, but at least 80% of the players have not gotten a xen in a week. my last xen was 1 month ago o.O .
On my library days my record was 12 xens in one day and 8 the next day... soo just enjoy those moments of good luck ;)

Good suggestions. However, I will not change my map gathering habit of half to two-thirds of the map for my experiment.

I am thinking that if so many veterans disagree with xen drop rate increase, then my experiment should and probably will fail. I expect my experiment to fail now, but I will still try it. If for some crazy reason I get like 3+ drops in different maps, that will show something is up. That is why I was so shocked to get 4 xen drops in 8 half map aoes in mines with my appy. I was aoeing Sunday morning before church and I was only verified person on map.

I am pretty sure there was no increase in non-dungeon maps since I aoed Templar and Aser for over an hour each with no xen drops.

As for xen drops in library, I have observed 10+ drops in an hour with big parties before this whole alleged xen drop rate increase. With so many whole map killings happening in such a short period of time, it does not surprise me one bit (especially with new faster kill rates thaks to the spa). I should be able to try Cobalt tonight and maybe B3 library tonight. If it fails, I will throw my experiment out unless evidence to the contrary emerges. I will also update my post to disregard my comments on this thread.

I've spent time aoeing the pirate ship for over an hour and got no xens, but the mirror rats did take a liking to my drops making me run away from them so that i can kill and get my own drops.

if ur talking about just over the weekend, then its just u, just about everyone will have days/weeks wen it seems like alot of xens start to drop, and then other days/weeks, it seems like xens never drop~

well for about a month i have been aoeing around maps in north jot lately (velcro to inkwell) since i finally got my skill, not the mines or caves, but i haven't had a xen drop for me in two+ weeks, i got one two weeks ago in rudwork, and nothing for two weeks before that. when i aoe i spend at least 4 hours on one map too, right now its inkwell... ive been in inkwell for the last three days straight (almost), and no xen there :(

before that when i was in the caves and mines, i never had one xen drop for me... guess its my luck... (gears dont drop for me either, i spent two week straight farming happy gears on one map, and only saw 2 +6 gears), since ive started this game almost a year ago, i have only had 12 xen drop.... ever.... except for the last POX which was my first, where i got 17 in Tier 2

o.O i think im cursed O.o

and i dunno if it helps either...

Barring any kind of weird things OS was trying out Sunday morning, I consider my theory debunked.

0 xens from Cobalt
1 xen from Library B4

Given that and the information received from Wardomic, I think enough information received to make a conclusion on my experiment.

I will chalk it up to epic good luck on my part and only people responding to me who were on a hot streak (or a bunch of liars). I learned I will need to find a more reliable way of getting information than from shout responses and my own personal observations.

I also debunked another theory that some people held that I never confirmed. I got an ap 6 Sword of Justice while aoeing Templar, which is the first ap 6 gear in my own class I have ever gotten. When I tried farming Satisfaction gears for 3 months to no avail, I started to believe this myth.

In conclusion, no verifiable increase in xen drop rate in dungeons over the weekend. Case closed.

It's pure luck, they can drop any time, from any mob on any map.

At level 37, the highest percentage drop rate for you will probably be in the advanced maze. Keep in mind that xen drop rates are still very low, but they tend to be a little higher in dungeons. If you are just interested in money, you would be better served by hunting leather in maps with hawqs, krapuns, and holloween star and moon bears. There are maps with better experience, but if you want lots of kron, there is no better means of obtaining money than farming pet quest items and selling them in your shop.
