well a fighter is good for stuns and debuffs and has a few aoes while a cleric has very many heal skills only 2 attack skills and no aoes.

Here is the rundown, at least to add onto meepkeep333. Fighters are basically one of the most looked upon members of the party. They are the tanks, the heavy hitters, or the meat shields (lol mostly kidding about that last one). Clerics are the seriously overlooked class. While they have few attack skills, they have some excellent gear, and if played right, can really take a hit. They also are the favored members of a party because of their excellent healing abilities, but are often abused by the other members if they die (sad but true). I am using both sides of the fence right now, with a lvl 28 cleric, and 24 fighter. (Low lvls but I do not get to play very often these days, due to port blockage at my school). This is like my 4th fighter and 2nd cleric lol.

Either way, it really boils down to your preferences. A battle between a Fighter and a Cleric could go on for hours, due to the healing of the cleric, and the generally high defense of the fighter. Fighters hit heavier than clerics, and (depending on the build and equipment you use) have more defense. Clerics are balanced characters, but are great for soloing quests (if you can manage your healing and attacking timing).

So the question is, do you wanna heal with a giant hammer/mace or carry a really big sword?

While I'm not going to argue with awaishiro about clerics being able to take a hit, I have a few comments to make. Clerics are great soloers until about level 30 when it becomes more and more tedious. You can forget it after 60. Unless you like to hit auto-attack then ignore the screen for a while. I'm not saying it's impossible to level as a solo cleric in higher levels, it's just very, extremely dull.

Let's see, I'm biased to clerics so I'll just explain what I love about playing cleric.

(1) The fact that in most parties and even when we're much lower level than our party members, clerics can still be of some use. Sure people can use pots and stones, but with a cleric things are easier and safer. Intense grinding is made possible without people having to cookie or waste tons of ig money on stones and pots.

(2) I like the being in party and keeping everyone alive. This makes grinding exciting for a cleric and one's ability to play this class is easily seen and evident to the party. It involves making decisions fast (who to heal at the moment, which skill to use, when do i heal, who do i revive) and being able to be observant of the surroundings and happenings (pt member1 has dced, pt member is bugged, mage has failed to cast in time etc.).

(3) I also enjoy at times the fact that a cleric is usually the last person standing when all else fails. XD It's a cleric's job too, to stay alive to prevent the total wipe out of the entire party.

(4) Know as well that when you decide to play cleric, people will often find it easy to blame you. But if you want people to grow up and improve themselves, then have the courage to point out what wrong they did as to help the entire party. A cleric can't save the entire party on her own. There's reason there are other classes, so in short, don't let other people bully you! D:<

(5) It's cheap to play cleric haha.

Bad things about cleric

(1) Without a party or someone to heal, I find soloing on my cleric is tremendously boring. Extremely boring and most of the time pointless. This is probably because I built my cleric to be full support and will function well in a party. Thus, I find myself unable or rather intolerable (coz some people can tolerate and actually manage to do these things) to farm, quest, and grind (solo).

(2) PVP as in one vs one type of scenario is not fun. But when it's pvp like in a guild war or guild tournament or party vs party in abyss, then it becomes exciting as those situations will really put your cleric skills to the test as players are more unpredictable than field monsters.

^^; (All this comes from my experience of leveling quite a number of clerics ._.)

Cleric is a good class to play and so is Fighter class.

Cleric is basically a support class and really means alot in a party. Most aoe party can't be done with a cleric in a party because stones/potions can't heal fast enough to cover the damage lost in healthpoints. You will be important and vital to a good grinding aoe party. (unless the party uses cashshop hp potions and a cleric is not really needed if this happens because cashshop hp potions heals without cooldown time).

Cleric is a class for the people who got good patience. Most of the time you will be healing in a party and always deals with a few hotkeys for spells (mainly healing spells). For hours, you will be doing the same thing over and over again. You may fall asleep while doing this in the wee hours of the night and caused the entire party to die =P (i did...). You got to handle abuse from other players as cleric is always blamed for party's deaths although other factors can contribute to it. At level 47, you get a spell call Endure which gives extra HP & SP to a player. That is when you got to handle players asking you for it every where you go in the game, be it you are just passing through, doing something like chatting or simply standing there afk. All in all, if you are a nice person and wish to help others, choose cleric. Cleric is never meant to be pvp and no matter how much you invested in cash or other stuff, your physical damage is 2nd lowest in the game. So don't choose this class if you wish to do PVP.

And lastly, the "thank you" you get from people you helped is priceless. If you are at higher levels and you go to help those lower levels by giving them a buff (Endure spell), they will be quite thankful to you. Some may not say thanks at all but that is only the minority. Helping others can make your day better.

Fighter is a pvp/pve class. It depends alot on which side you want to be.

Most of the time, a fighter is vital in a party and during guild wars. Fighter can tank and take in damage from monsters during aoe party. They have skills to hold the monsters to them and let others land damages without getting hurt as a result. It may seem like an easy job to tank but it gets much harder at higher levels because archers and mages get better spells which do more damage and fighter doing the tank job can't hold the monsters for long. This requires good practice of the fighter on how to hold his monsters. For this type of fighter, it is better to build your character towards defensive built. Look around in Fighter discussion thread for more info.

Fighter can do well in pvp or guild wars.Their physical damage is the highest if they build the character towards pvp built. There is nothing a fighter can't kill. Good timing of spells and spamming them at the right time can take down cleric easily (normal cleric who don't use cash items/+9 armor). You will be much needed in a party to do good damage to monsters or boss monsters. Usually good for boss kills with another fighter doing the tank job.
