When you go to enhance your weapon/armor, do they break no matter what you use? Or can you use certain stones so that the worse possible outcome is a failure?

how come i can't use more than one elure to enhance my weapon
for ex
i enhanced my bow to +1 with 1 elure but when i tried to enhanced with 4 elure it won't start

You can only use 1 stone at a time.

Blessed and Lucky stones will be labled just that. "Blessed Elrue", Lucky Lix", etc.

There are cash shop items you can buy ( with real money) that will further help with success rate, and another that decrease chance of downgrading.
