Yesh, I wanna see if there's any other lefties in the Fiesta world. (I know there must be O.o) Talk about our prowess as being a lefty, our daily struggles, funky lefty items, and everything else left-handedness.
Righties, ph33r us. ~.~'

... but I am sometimes training my left hand :P as an artist I am quite worried about my right hand, and just in case something bad would happen to it*, I want to make sure that I would be able to use my left hand just as good.
*a few years ago I had a huge plaster on my whole right hand though I broke only a finger <_< right for the winter holiday... no fun drawing-time for that christmas ;_; ...

There was a study done about lefties, and they came to a pretty weird but shocking conclusion.
Statistically speaking, there are almost the same percentage of lefties in the world as there are twins, paternal and identical. They also noted that some of the lefties they interviewed, while being single birth children, were at one point during the pregnancy, twins. Most twins, if not all, have one right handed child and one left handed child. Scientists believe that this is an effect from the DNA being mirrored, in order to create the twin. For whatever reason, the twin was either miscarried, or consumed by the stronger more healthy child (Believe it or not, this happens a lot. A lot of women are pregnant with twins and never even know it because the second baby is either unhealthy or just fails to progress with the first child, so the body just...deals with it.)
They ran the numbers concerning lefties and twins, and came to the conclusion that there is a high probability that left handed, single birth humans are the result of a failed twin embryo fertilization, and at one point had a sibling during the pregnancy.
Before you bandwagon flamers who follow me around the forums decide to flame me...
Am I saying that all left handed people are failures? No. If anything, they are the opposite of failures. If what this study says is true, the left handed child was the stronger, healthier of the two, and was the one that was carried and delivered. As such, that does not mean they are failures. In no way, shape, or form am I subtly suggesting that the opposite of this is true. I am simply recalling something I saw on NOVA many moons ago.
For the record, I am ambidextrous. Not by nature. It took me a long time to learn to use my left hand for the many applications that I can naturally use my right hand. So far, I can use simple tools (screwdriver, ratchet, ect) and write. I don't really feel a need to progress this ability further so I just don't mess with it, and only use it if I need to lol.

there is only less than 10% of America's population is leftie....
In Asia, we consider left handed children are strong headed as well as evil just because he/she is not like the normal kid. I got slapped and hit so many times just because I wrote by my left hand. Eventually, I had to give up because I could not take anymore hitting to my hand knuckles >.< That is why I only write by right hand nowadays while doing the rest of things by left hand.

I would definitely love to have this. It keeps your hand off of the paper so you don't smudge over what you write, and you can see what you wrote instead of it being blocked by your hand. And they have it in pink!

hmm....do you still call a person that's left handed that was forced to write with their right (along with many other things with the right) still left handed? x]

Lol, my parents told me a story that even when I was a baby I refused to use my right hand for things. Even my babysitter tried to change me over but I always switched back. Here's an interesting tidbit: "More than 2,500 left-handed people are killed every year around the world from using equipment meant for right-handed people. The right-handed power saw is the most deadly item." Isn't that comforting o.o We also have to deal with our bad writing posture that usually results in very smudged writing(unless you change your writing posture). I also find it amusing to see what simple things in life have been made for righties that we have to adapt to use properly; my personal favorites are scissors, watches, and DOORS.. I mean really, even doors are specially made for righties xD
Ahhh, it is nice to be that special 9% of the population that's left-handed haha

I'm ambidextrous. Sometimes I'll play Can't Buy Me Love on The Beatles Rock Band game by impersonating Paul McCartney's bass playing and singing.

I myself am left handed. I've learned some funny/kewl tricks that come with that, such as being able to easily write things backwards.
I'm too lazy to look up statistics to verify this, but, it's been my observance that left handed individuals tend to have more strengths in the arts then in science and mathematic related fields. Scientifically, the brain's spheres control the hand opposing it, IE, the left sphere controls the right hand and vice versa. This is intriguing because the left sphere is typically associated with academic fields, and the right is associated with creativity, spirituality, and the arts. Hence, it's logical to draw the conclusion that left handed people have an easier time fostering artistic gifts.

Yeah, statistics have shown that lefties die an average of I believe 9 years less than righties. Don't quote me on that because I haven't seen the webpage in a while. I believe the only way to 'solve' these problems is to have more leftie stores(which there actually are :o). Lol but that would me manufacturers would have to make another production that only appeals to 9% of people when it could be 91% with righties; also meaning that their profit margin on that line is strictly less in that line. D:< So I don't think we'll be seeing special stores for us lefties anytime soon.

I used to be left handed, then I turned to right, then both. Then at the age of 6 I turned into a rightie. My bf is a leftie though. :P
edit: I hear that 2k people in the UK who are left handed die every year from using right handed products. :O

I really don't find it surprising that so many lefties die each year from using right-handed products, or that power saws are the leading cause of these deaths. I'm right handed and I've almost injured myself a couple times using a left-handed skilsaw with my right hand.

i am a leftie yay and yes it is proven that lefties are more artisticly inclined. i have always known that i should've had a twin. my mom was told that there was a complication early in her pregnancy and i continued to develop she didnt know she was still pregnant till a couple weeks later. i love that yoropen i might just have to order one, and left handed scissors are hard to use after getting used to using right handed ones. They need to make can openers left handed LOL

I'm a righty mostly when I write
But I can do anything else with both of my hands
I shall train my left hand to write and be truly Ambidextrous >:]

I really hate those cheap so-called 'leftie' scissors. The cheap useless ones just have ambidextrous handle, and the blade is still on the other side. And the handles are so tiny your hand hurts. Then there are the ones that have the blades mirrored, like they're supposed to, but they won't cut because you can't align them properly, and the paper goes between the blades.
I had to search everywhere for a decent pair of scissors...
