So I've got the following:
Magic Missile [6] w/5 points in cool down
Fire Bolt [6] w/5 points in damage
Ice Bolt [6]
Lightning Bolt [5]
Magic Burst [2]
I've got 7 skill points left. Where should I put them or what should I save them for?

I have 5 Skill enhanchment points to distribute on
Magic Missile [2]
Fire [2]

any mages can give some recommendations based on their experiences ?
Cooldown ? Damage on Fire seems to increase greatly with enhancement...?

Personally I would suggest either reducing SP consumption on magic burst or increasing the damage of magic burst, or both. Trust me, it will help you out in AoE parties later on.

I lowered the cd on magic burst .06 seconds at lv 5. I like spamming it as quickly as possible and once I get the lv 60 aoe I should be able to aoe non-stop I'm hoping. It depends though on your build and what you want to do? Personaly i just did magic missle, firebolt, and magic burst, and now im saving the last points for the advanced magic ball, and fire ball. I'll prob then save up 5 points and see what the max diff of the other spells are before touching anything else.

I would say to save it up for cooldown on magic burst or for the the attack on magic burst

I did firebolt power and Magic Missile cooldown. I've been saving them since then for 49+ level spells. I haven't made up my mind yet, I'll try them and then decide. I suck a bit now but I hope that will pay off later and make me stronger in the higher levels.

I've been curious, is there any reason to not buy a higher level of a spell? I haven't gotten Magic Missile 3, Firebolt 3, and Lightning 2 because I'm afraid it'll end up being detrimental. Am I just worrying too much?

No, you're not. Don't upgrade Magic Missle(so you always have a constant output source of damage), but Ice Bolt/Lightning Bolt, as well as Magic Burst, you should definately upgrade. Fire Bolt depends, I don't use a higher level because I've got a 17% crit rate.
It depends on your Stat Build really. It shouldn't be detrimental, but it's typically advised that if you are on an INT build, you should upgrade all but MM, for a higher base damage over time.

Highest base damage over time, is to use max mm->max fire->max light->lv1 mm->some other high lv spell...etc
It has max mm in it because max mm has much higher damage. This combo will have to use lv1mm lv1mm at some point, but if max the cd, lv1mm lv1mm is not significantly slower than lv1mm lv1fire in terms of casting time. That means the damage gain by max mm outweight the little casting time saved by using the lv1 mm->lv1 fire-> lv1 mm->max light->lv1 mm->other high lv spell->lv1mm....
I am talking about the highest damage over time, not sp consumption efficiency. (only use lv1mm for the win in this category...)

reducing CD on magic burst is pointless.. 0.6 sec isnt much.. and increasing damagea? pointless as well because it would be a lot more beneficial to save those points for post-60 spells.

Actually, it's not as worthless as you believe, and I don't use Upgraded Fire Bolt, and my damage over time is actually quite higher now than it would be if I used a higher level with a much greater cooldown, simply due to the frequency of crits.

Frequency of crits has no relationship with your choice of spells right? Mages have casting frequency of 1.3 or below as long as mm's cd is maxed. If a mage has to wait for cd in upgraded firebolt, he simply uses lv1mm again and again.

It's not just that, but you can make a near infinite attack order with Fire Bolt 01, and Magic Burst while waiting for Lightning/Ice Bolt.
On the Pull for Orcs: Max IB->Max LB->FB01
Fighting next to the tank: MM1->MB->MM1->FB01
Then repeat that, you'll have to use 2 MM01's in the meantime between the cooldowns for FB01 and MB, but the damage order when waiting on LB/IB is still very excellent.

Alright, glad I asked then. I'm pure INT, so I'll go pick up firebolt 1, lightning 3, and ice 3 now...thanks for the info.

Of course. Feel free to ask me anything, anytime, and I'd be happy to help.

.6 seconds is great if you solo a lot and are a END mage. Just wait for our DOT aoes combined with a 4.4 sec aoe.
