View Full Version : Praising Outspark.

Please note that this is not a "suck up" post, it is mearly an observation and personal opinion.
Before thoroughly reading this, please keep in mind this is an open topic of discussion, but any negative comments directed at me, others with the same characteristics, or other OutSpark members - will be reported - causing this thread to be closed.

Everyone Most people like to talk about how bad Outspark is; the fact that they don't do their job, that they overprice SparkCash items, and so on.
But, today I am posting a topic regaurding the positive things they do, the things that help make the Fiesta community as a whole - more of a "whole"

Members from my Server (Bijou), May know this - but to the rest of you reading this, it may be news to you.
I'm Gay. And absolutely proud of it.
I'm not here to argue whether being gay is morally correct or incorrect, i go to a catholic school ~ I get that enough lol.
I'm not posting here to hear how much you love Gay people,
and I'm most certainly not here to debate my sexuality like its some type of science project.

Like i stated previously, I'm here to say "Thank you" to all of the Outspark staff members, supportive players of Fiesta, the open-minded people, and the people whom respect others - and look past their differences.

I know it's not really a big deal; and it's been out for quite some time - but the ability to marry in game is a wonderful thing which makes the game more fun.
But, what about the same-sex friends? The same-sex couples? And the people who like to marry themselves (cough-ran-cough<3)
Most games don't offer the feature to marry the same sex.
And some people may take it as a joke.
But, I see it as a sign of respect.
Understanding that one; this is a game - why would anyone restrict people on the gender of a pixel characters marriage?
And two; There are plenty of people who play this game that are members of the Gay/Bi/Lesbian community as well as active members of the GLAAD community.
But, now I'm getting a little off-topic.

my point is; Outspark allows same-sex marriages, which makes many people (including myself) feel much more supported.
Feeling supported by the people who own the game; make we want to continue investing my money in sparkcash, and continue playing the game.

Also;
Outspark blocks the words "(starts with an F)" and "Gay" from ingame discussion.
This is also showing respect, because OS is acknowledging that those words are offensive. Those words are not meant to be disrespectful, that those words are discriminating on a large population of people.

I guess my point is, I'm saying thank you for everyone whom is married to the same sex, for a number of different reasons.
Thank you for reading this, thank you for making us feel welcome.
Thank you for blocking words that are discriminatory.
Thank you ^^!

And on a quick note!
*Next time someone acts stupid, or you get mad, or someone is dressed differently than your "normal", try not to insult them - try to understand them. Talk to them.
But mostly,
remember
the words "Gay" and "(Starts with an F)" are not substitutes for the word "Stupid"

Thanks for your time;
~Forb - Bijou server.

I do love what OS does for us, even if not everything is working as it's supposted to. And thus I am thankful to OS too in general :3

Also it's sad that people (usually with other than withe skin complexion) can't have tanned/black (or since we talk about fantasy, purple and blue ) characters but it is nice that at least homosexual people are not 'left out'.

Just mentioned skin complexion/race because as far as I know, people pick on them just as much as on homosexual people. Neither of them should happen in-game and in real life either. We are all equal regardless of these things, and indeed it is a nice feature of the in-game marriage, and not only for love purposes, as there are many friends of the same gender (usually girls) who like to play together and want to use the marriage features together.

I am glad you are happy, and that others are probably happy about minor in-game features like this too. Yay for Outspark :)

You sound like my sister towards the end. She's also a member of the LBGT (I think that's the acronym where I'm from) community, and I am in full support.

I also agree that OS does a pretty good job at trying to make things open for everyone, they try to keep everyone on an equal playing field and don't descriminate for any reason that I have seen.

I'd also like to say I respect you greatly for being able to come out to your fellow forumers, especially since I doubt you know many of us, if any, personally.

I know a few personally.
But, I have no reason to be so quiet about it.
Glad to hear that your sister is part of the LBGT :)!
Good for her.
And yay Outspark.

Nicely written out. You got guts to come out like that, and that's something I respect.

What I love about OS is how tightly knitted this community is. Setting differences on ourselves and placing each other above another is going to cause friction, something we don't need. How can we have tight bonds if we push each other away?

Nicely said ;D Its so great to see threads like this pop up, mostly because, over my years of playing Fiesta, Ive found out sorta how the workings of it go, more so than the normal person (like what GMs can/cant do in relation to new features, and such), and alot of the anger the community has is always aimed at Outspark, when it might not (and alot of the times really isnt) their fault to begin with.

I am also one partial to liking the way they did the marriage system. Now, I am straight, through and through, and a girl, but I like the male characters in game better than the female ones for various reasons. And Im glad knowing I can marry someone in game that also has a male character.

And that community isnt the only one Outspark takes into consideration. Alot of names, I wont say, or words that are offensive to certain cultures, have also been blocked out of fiesta chat.

--

And I think its in bold because the same sex marriage in fiesta is kinda.. well the marriage feature is an extra feature sorta, not required in the game, and lots of ppl dont think about it at all.

I know! It's like some people think gays are a whole different species or something! Maybe it's the fact that I'm a teen and grew up with people being more and more openly gay, but I never understood how some people think gay people's feelings for one another are any different than straight people's feelings for one another.

I know, right?! People are can be so stereotypical. I can't believe how much insults they have to put up with just from common media. I mean, are people really that thick that they will use that as a corner stone on how to treat people?

Lol now if they would just fix the "Mock" animation for fighters, make Bleed for clerics actually bleed, make Trip actually stun, and make archers not suck so bad in PvP I'd say this is the best game I've ever played. xP

drigr_x

The mock animation isn't actually broken. It's something that came all the way from Korea. I found it out one day while reading through fiestaonline.net.

yeah, the old mock animation is actually the Knight skill "Fatal Shout"
