im here to ask if im the only one who has issues with ppl harrassing cussing and pretty much telling them to go kill themselves while in pvp and then after reporting these ppl with screenies nothing happening to them and then you get reported for slipping up or getting to the point to where you cannot control it because they harrass you so much so you do or say something that lands you in trouble and outspark tells you that they take abuse issues very seriously

I don't even go into pvp... or almost never. But I do hear things about certain players with stories similar to yours. Players who've been around for a long time and friends with certain other people seem to get off easy while one slip up can get you into trouble.

there is no favorites when it comes to submitting a ticket all inquiries go to csr's not gms who would know ppl in game lol and if u have proof of someone breaking a rule in the t.o.s its handled. i think it works like this more offenses the higher punishment. meaning if someone goes like 3 years without getting reported then does something bad will get lighter punishment >< but if the person is truly so bad and constantly is a problem with u due to harassment plz keep reporting them cause yes sometimes ppls reputation prolly lets get them away with more due to the fact that noone reports them for there b.s :/

I hate to say it, but Free PvP is an arena made for killing other characters. Sure, people often just go in and hang out, or poke their buddies, or chase each other around in circles, but that still doesn't mean it's a good idea to go in unless you are prepared to fight for your life.

See, here's the problem....what I see as "another player gloating in PvP", you see as "morons who run their mouths." I'm not telling you not to defend yourself, but I think this is cause for me to infer that people KOSing you is a result of getting verbal in return. Do what I do: Trash-talk smarter, not harder. And if someone is KOSing you, get stronger, come back, and kill them.

No one can force you to quit. And if the verbal harrassment is really that bad, you may wish to consider taking a few screenshots of their language and attaching them to a CSR report. Verbal harrassment is against TOS....don't be a rule-breaker just out of the need to defend yourself, because all those annoying teachers in elementary school who kept telling you that "two wrongs don't make a right" were actually right all along.

PvP is the playground of Solstice. You'll find that most people go there to hang out with their buddies and chill, maybe duel, poke random people, etc. But like any playground, you'll have your cliques and you'll have your bullies.

Even people that aren't bullies may randomly kill you, either accidentally (don't know their own stength) or just because they can. If you get upset by this, it only gives them incentive to do it over and over again. If you just laugh it off, enjoy being a floater for a bit, sure they might kill you a few more times if you get revived, but eventually they'll get bored if you don't respond.

If they're truly being verbally abusive as in using bad or threatening language, then you can report them. Here's the catch; you have to have the moral high ground. If you sink to their level, then you're SOL.

If you don't want to be killed by high-leveled players, go into the level-limited PvP arena. If you don't want to be killed at all, don't go to PvP.

The thing about level pvp is no one's ever in there. You can try and get your friends into those arenas but if you go in alone odds are you will be alone.

The harassment in free pvp comes from only certain players, and yes i do mean harassment not people running their mouths off. For example a friend of mine who frequents pvp gets picked on by 2 people specifically who got their friends together to join in and kill my friend. Then they "run their mouths off" using all sorts of words. Sending tickets to CSR has not yielded any results and word has it one of these people actually said a certain individual gets him/her and their friends off easy.

Anyways the moral of the story is to stick with friends, learn who to avoid, when not to go into free pvp, and try to make use of level/party/guild pvp. And to take screenshots of actual harassment when it occurs and send it to CSR

You're getting too stuck on the fine print to see the whole picture, dude. The point is not whether "hillbilly" is a racist term or not (which it isn't, it's called a "demographical epithet"...look it up). The point is also not what sort of KOSing is and isn't acceptable in the arena, as hundreds of dollars in SC and hundreds of hours of training are fully intended to endow a player with the privilege of being able to do so.

Rather, what you're losing sight of is the fact that the game is intended to be fun. It seems clear to me that you're not having an awful lot of fun in PvP, so perhaps you might want to consider spending your in-game time somewhere else. I fully realize that you're capable of conjecting that others are ruining your fun by killing you again and again in PvP, but would you conject simultaneously that you are ruining their fun by saying whatever it is you say that makes them want to kill you repetitively?

(That was a rhetorical question...no need to answer)

The bottom line is that free PvP can, at times, be full of stuck-up trigger happy elitists who have nothing better to do with the last few minutes of their SoS day than pick off a low level player for a quick, cheap laugh. I myself have done this at times, and hopefully what I'm about to say doesn't surprise you: The people I kill that way, who die in one or two hits and can barely scratch me in self-defense, who are sportsmanlike about their deaths and don't talk a bunch of anti-elitist trash, are the ones for whom I seek a revive and some heals (assuming I don't log onto my healer and do it myself), and on occasion even become friends with. This is especially true for those super-squishy players I kill on accident.

Moral of the story: You get more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. If you think people are killing you to be mean, just let it roll off your shoulders, laugh along with them, and then leave the arena if the bad behavior persists. By staying there, inciting quarrels with the players, and exchanging bad language banter with them, making them want to kill you even more, you're simply making your own game experience worse.

Once upon a time, as a newb Cleric, I was once severely beaten by the rudest of rude Rogues who told me I was noob, said to get the (expletive) out of PvP, and go level up. I decided to be a contrarian rather than defending myself on the spot....I left PvP, stayed away for weeks, trained relentlessly, then came back and stomped him....again, and again, and again. Revenge is a dish best served cold, and you'll get a lot more respect from actually killing the people you have beefs with than you'll ever get simply by floating there exchanging profanities with them. That's just how it is.

If I do believe, this has nothing to do with him getting killed. It's just the onslaught of verbal abuse. Just because it happens in PvP, doesn't mean PvP is what caused the situation. I've seen the OP harassed outside of PvP plenty of times. PvP isn't the problem, it's just the location.

I for sure don't believe that everyone has equal rights in this game. Some of the veteran players that have made ties with some ppl, via Forums, In-Game, PMs, and shown good nature in reporting, can get off more than other players who haven't done such.

And the one thing I always like to say, just ignore them. Lol.

I have anger problems too. I can wholeheartedly contend that I have the nastiest temper on the face of the planet. I spend close to an hour every day punching soft things so I don't hurt myself, I yell obscenities into pillows so nobody has to hear the foul things I'm saying, and I am heavily medicated to keep my nasty disposition in check. I started playing computer games because on a game, it's legal to kill something or someone that's making you angry. When I get really angry, do you know what happens? Nothing, besides more punching soft things, more screaming obscenities into pillows, and perhaps an elightening visit to a nearby psychiatric professional if things are truly out of hand.

Note that nowhere on this list of things I do to keep from getting overly angry do I include getting profane with people. Do you see me going around spewing obscenities at people who offend me in game? No? Maybe that's because I don't. There is one person in SOS, here and active on the forums, who recently incited my ire, and I was civil in composing all 5,000 characters of my response. Having anger problems isn't much of an excuse for anything - I can't even pawn my bad grades off on it, nor do I try. It's not a question of maturity, either; joshbritten is older than I am, and thus has had more practice at keeping his composure under duress. I understand your desire to defend him, and in no way do I condone the equally childish and rude acts of those with whom such derogatory exchanges were made. But you can't pawn off irresponsible acts, particularly of a bannable nature, on anger that's difficult to control.

The solution is simple....if you're being subject to verbal abuse, file a CSR ticket and include screenies. If you're getting KOSed and it bothers you, leave PvP and don't come back until either A) the people who kill you are gone, B) you've leveled up high enough to defend yourself, or C) the arena is empty. It's a simple solution, it works, and as of now it's the ONLY solution to issues like these.

Although..if it was...that would be okay. Because its PvP.

And if you're just complaining about what ppl say to you, just screenie and send a ticket. Otherwise just deal with it...

PvP was intended to be SoS's playground, people however get too emotional inside. You have groups of people who kick everyone out just so they can have it to themselves, you have people who bark painful words at random people, you have people who really do harass very specific players, even if they are not conciously aware that they do it. Fact is PvP is unbalanced for a number of reasons, most of which are because of high level players who think they own pvp, and low to mid leveled players that are upset they can't enter pvp due to certain players killing seemingly random people, or harassing seemingly random people.

People don't overreact to a single death, they overreact to repeated deaths by the same person or group of people over and over which can be either random, or intentional. They also overreact to being killed, revived, and killed all over again. The use of certain words/names also makes people overreact, whether it's racist, sexual, or other they can cause a very violent reaction from certain people.

No one is innocent, the op claims to have been harrassed verbally, his reply to the verbal abuse appears to be that of a typical person with some small ability to control his anger but is constantly pushed beyond his limit, especially when dealing with the same people over and over. As such anyone who hangs out with these supposed harrassers are thought to be in league with them causing even more confusion, more people drawn into the conflict resulting in a never ending confrontation in which the end result is more than likely either the wrong people get punished, or the right people get punished, or everyone involved gets punished.



The solutions to the problem are simple. Victims should stop getting angry at their harassers and try to squeeze some peaceful fun out of it. Harassers should stop picking on random and specific people. The high level groups should move on to level pvp, i'm pretty sure most of them are in the same tier, have alts in the same tiers, or have friends to help level them to their tiers. Once they group together in level pvp they can chill, have fun, etc... and not have to deal with people they don't like that are too low of a level to follow them. Low level groups also have the option of using their leveled tiers to get away from the high levels. Outspark got us tiered pvp, the only reason no one uses them is because "no one goes into them" well if you take your friends in there, try to make it the new place to hang out, what do you know there should be enough people to keep things fun.

Alternate solutions include being able to turn houses into pvp areas, create instance pvp arenas(or something similar to how windslayer is) or have multiple free pvp arenas(I think a maximum of 4 should do)


This is a game, but the people who play it are real, as such they have real feelings. Ages and maturity levels vary from person to person. Learn who you are dealing with, if you are randomly killing people because you are bored or whatever, try to remember to let them know that fact and no hard feelings. For people who go into pvp there aren't many if any rules at all. Mind your manners, stay in or near the sz to gauge what's going on. If you are just hanging out with friends or want to duel someone find an open space or use the other pvp arenas if possible.

My comment about "smart" insults was back to what Comp said when she said insult "smarter" not "harder." Or something to that nature. And no, I don't think everyone does such a thing, which ends up to many derogatory terms being spewed.

Maybe if his harassers were smart enough not to comment back, there wouldn't be any harassers.

Constantly, consecutively, always going after the same person each and every single time is a form of harassment. It causes stress on the person to where they can't enjoy the game, and that leads to situations such as this. That is how it's harassment.

Not all of the comments they can post on the forums. Just because a lot of the comments are vague enough to get past the ToS, doesn't mean all their comments are able to get past ToS. Pick and choose is all that is happening.

I have been in pvp, just not often on my warrior, disciple, scout, or app. I have alts that no one knows about. I have a neo with invis. I've listened to a number of people outside of pvp and have investigated a little bit on my own.

You know war you are correct on one thing. It did start with people harassing him but those people are NOT the ones who are taunting him now. He moved on to others. I use to feel sorry for him. I even stood up for him and told people to leave him alone. I would heal him and he would sit with me and I would talk to him and try to figure out why he was so upset. He told me thing bout his life and I felt really bad for him. Then I would tell him not to respond when people would mess with him but he would never listen to me. So then he hated me because I couldnt save him anymore. I still have yet to kill him, still have yet to say anything vulgar or nasty to him. Why? Because I dont play a game that way. Things he said to me were beyond what should have ever been said. I never asked for him to hate me because of my friends, he chose to.

Harassment or not he chooses to go to PvP, he chooses to tell people that it is him on an alt and he chooses to spout ignorant and homophobic remarks that there is NO excuse to utter. Cussing out people is one thing, stooping to derogatory remarks based upon ignorance and hatred is another.

If either of you were around PvP when he is there as much as you claim to be you would not be defending this behavior.
