Buff Display : Charms

With the servers being down today, and then followed by maint later in the evening instead of postponing bringing the servers up and just doing maint then, I had come up with and posted several different ideas/fixes I've thought up before. You can find a list of them in my signature. But to the thread at hand:


Overall Summary: Like the Guild Buff/Love Buff/Rest Exp Boost Buff are displayed on a character and visible by all, they cannot be removed until the timers run out, and they cannot be stolen. So how far would it be for OutSpark and Ons On Soft to develop a display to show what level Charm is activated on a character.


Reasons:

To display this would solve the age old drama/argument in both PvP/PvE and even in brag rights. Was the person really charmed or not. I know alone on Apoline this tends to be a common issue brought up which tends to then get out of hand while in the Free Battle Zones. So, if it's shown, there's no hiding or denying it.

Also, it wouldn't be that hard to do, with the symbols already available by using the visual item icon, it can be shrunk down and placed in next to the Buff part under the name.

And to argue its a Cash Shop item (you actually receive a 20% Might Charm on a 94 Quest) and therefor it shouldn't be visible to other players, we can see other players if they have Extenders on by simply doing the math, we can see their Cash Shop Suits, and Weapon Skins, so why wouldn't this be obtainable/fair.

As Always, I'm ready and excited to see some feedback. Please keep the flaming to a minimum, although I know it will happen and am ready to accept that fact.

if charms went 2 be purge/stealable.. HELL NO! and then u want a extender-icon 2? and i get called charmed all da time! if some1 says "fcking charmer" at me while im not thats a BIG complement! ;D if they dont notice ur charms.. u probally shall keep quiet about ur charmed xD so nah. no icon

nah, no extender icon, theres proof you have one on just by what your hp/sp show. and the point you declared about being charmed or not is exactly what this would fix, the frustration by the other person thinking your charmed and then causing drama/issues could all be avoided by simply looking and going, "oh, no charm icon, theyre not charmed just epix."

I think this is a good idea. It was brought up in the past but pretty much ignored.
It would save us the trouble of all of the ones who charm 24/7 and try to pass it off as their own strengths.

lol, i get accused of being charmed at least every time i enter fbz on any of my characters, when i'm not. the point also goes outside of PvP, for the fact that if an AOE party is looking for lets say a high defense fighter, or high damage DD, they would like to know if they're charmed or not so they can physically see the icon. I've been in parties before where the mage claimed to be charmed, but really only had a partial lic done and was complete squish and didnt do as much damage as hoped/the lower level mages. So yea, it's kinda important to know.

and for my job, I work 40+ hours a week, kthx, =P

i knew its been done before, i just wasn't able to find it (didn't really look tbh, but hey, it's my excuse), and i figured the more it's brought up, maybe the more they'll think about it. then again, i brought up the weapon skin damage glitch several weeks ago and no news on that even after a GM said theyd look into it, =P.

ugh guys, try reading his post.
he wrote that we can tell if someone is extendered by simply doing math.
that means that we don't need an icon.. -__________- read b4 making up random stuff
and charms wouldn't be purgable because it's just like guildbuff/10% bonus exp.

About half the people who dont buy sc actualy have a job they just think its dumb to spend real money on a simple game... and im one of those people lol........but as for the charm icon i think its a great idea, considering thers alot of charmers that i can normaly own and then they get more def/m.def and dmg/m.dmg and claim I simply fail...even if they are 10 lvls higher xD

Or, you can make an option to see all their CS gear, like some other games. Right-click --> Items maybe? This gives a good chance to every CS item they have, which includes charms, extender, how much crit gear etc. At the very least, have all this displayable. Or go with the orignal idea, something has to be done.

well, only problem with that is some people (me included) like to keep my personal armors/weapons/gears private, but CS stuff is pretty blatant by just looking at them. and thanks for the necro, this thread needs more feedback and support.

Charms should be shown on your icon list. I (in the 6x abyss) can 99.9% of the time tell when people are charmed. Being a pure end fighter, with full +9 armors and a backup set of spr armors, are pretty much invincible in any 1v1 situation in 6x abyss. But, those sad people who think they're all that still deny it xD

Pssh go ahead add icon, but no purge or steal that would be bs. I want people to know I'm charmed, then they leave me alone when see me grinding my guildies, not my fault they cant buy 1 costume and no beauty coupon lolz, thats what this event was for all the players without them were complaining.

However, perhaps some people prefer to be anonymous (namely the ones who actually plunk down real life money to use them),of course there would be a lot of yes's in this poll because only a small % use charms cause its a paid for item, personally I think if they started showing them the sale of them would go down because it is an invasion of privacy, and with that in mind outspark would never let them show. This is a lost cause.

not really an invasion of privacy if you can easily tell if they are by how much damage or defense they have. even full end/+9 geared people will just have insanely high defense but little damage, so you can tell that they aren't charmed, just well geared. and nah, you wouldnt be able to purge/steal it, cause it would show up like the guild buff/love buff for its duration

I'm not sure how it would be an invasion of privacy though...unless you think that those who are charmed might be looked down on by those who aren't. But at the same time, I don't think that kind of sensitivity matters in mmo's like this one. You're already being called names just by not doing anything wrong, so what the heck kind of a difference will it make? Yeah, there might be the sales thing if charmed people actually think it's an invasion of privacy, but as far as I know, majority of the people who are charmed are those who spam shout in Elderine just to casually chat with friends who are standing right next to them. In other words, they're mostly the outgoing people who don't care what others think. If I'm correct with my assumption, I highly doubt that they would care if their charms showed.
