Present Box empty?

Unfortunately no, However if you can let us know which KQ it was, we can look into it.

I have had this problem a few times too in Mara and King Slime KQ, haven't been on others yet.

My (empty) Present Box was from King Slime KQ.

wow, i read many of these "empty box" threads in this forum and this is the first time i saw the gm replied to it.

i always thought it was just a "chance of nothing dropping" type of box but now i know *nod nod*

I don't know if it's related, but I logged out before opening the Present Box. I'm thinking that if you log out between receiving and opening the box that it might get empty? But maybe that was just coincidence.


Edit: My Present Box was empty again... but this time I opened it immediately when I got it. Seems like it sometimes just doesn't have an item. o.o

I believe it was just a coincidence, the last 6 or 7 chests were all EMPTY (except 1) and I tried several different things to remedy this, for example:

- having two chests at the same time and trying (one was empty)
- opening chest while in KQ
- opening chest immediately after KQ
- opening chest several hours/days after KQ
- clearing a bunch of space out of inventory
- putting chest on another page of inventory
- NOT moving chest at all

so, again, though purely anecdotal, there seems to be little you can do to improve your chances of avoiding the EMPTINESS.

Note: There was one thing that I haven't had the opportunity to test yet, that is: what happens if you "open" an empty chest when you're inventory is full. The only chest I tried to open with full inventory actually had something in it (King Slime), haven't tried that with a chest that I found to be empty afterwards yet - does it still give you the error message about a full inventory or does it just disappear? (at the rate I'm going I'm sure I can just try it with the next chest i get :( )

Okay guys, today I noticed something. The Present Boxes can contain those Low Red Potions only. In my case I already had various of them and the item number just raised from 25 to 28.

So maybe they aren't empty after all but they in fact have a chance to only drop junk items you have already in your inventory so you won't notice it.

I'll look into it more and see if there are really empty chests.

I've done many tricks aswell, but for me it was completely random. I've tried being completely empty (no equipment, no items, just chest) - no pattern there - sometimes empty sometimes present. What I DO have noticed, is that damage-dealer or tank fighters get better items from KQ (I've gotten a lot of good stuff on my fighter from King Slime KQ, Always a sword, earring or a good enhanchment stone). May it have been a coincidence ? I'm not sure.

Ahah! Finally, the curse has been broken... well at least somewhat. I completed 3 separate KQs yesterday/today (1 Mara and 2 GH). After I completed (finally) the level-up quest in between runs, both my chests gave something (maybe just another coincidence).

The Mara KQ, once again, gave nothing, but after the quest, both my GH quests gave something - i got some elrue/lixs, t2 pots, and a sub-par earring, but hey, at least it was something! The post about DD's getting better items may be true, because when I was high level on KingSlime I got 2x +4, +5, and a +6 weapons, but I still deal massive damage on Mara and I think the record is 9/10 empty chests on that now.

But okay, I think I've belabored the point, it's probably random, it's annoying, but I'm sure the GM's are tired of hearing it. So unless they still want more reports of when/how/what/etc. occurred, I will let the issue Rest In Peace... for now.

I suppose you didn't see the GM reply that it's a bug and if you can tell as much as details to the GM as possible about your empty chest (when,how,where etc.) then yeah...

Yeah I saw GMs reply, but there no real rule to it. It happens in differen KQ (Mara and Slime so far) and it happens independant of anything.

As a developer I'd personally just let the server print out if a present box doesn't give an item (or an item that doesn't exist) to track down the bug myself. ^^'

it keeps on happening , accordingto note of steam or dakkon it shouldve been fixed in an update(dont know if the update thats talked about is already done) anywayz i had an empty with mini dragon now thats a pain caus eit akes ages to kill and the stff is SOOO GOOD.

I have a new idea. Maybe it's related to the fact that you can only get the equips you can equip. For example if you are cleric you only get cleric weapons from the box. And if let's say the box contains a sword, then maybe it's empty if a cleric opens it? Just a guess, though.

Have the GM's ever confirmed that there ever was an empty box? I'm convinced that all of you people who think there was an empty box either got fame, exp, or something that stacked with something in your inventory(like T1 potions) and you just didn't notice. I have gone through MANY KQ's and I have never gotten an empty chest. I always open my Character window, so when I open it I can see if fame or exp goes up.

Yeah me too with Mara and golden hill i get several times nothing and when i get something i get something that isn't good at all. The best thing that i ever had was a heaven hammer of plus 3 but further only elrues and potions :). I'm an unlucky person.

Yes, I can unequivocally confirm that there are such things as EMPTY (completely EMPTY, absolutely NOTHING, no T1 pots, no fame, no EXP, no ANYTHING) chests! I received probably at least a total of 10 of these over the course of a few weeks (see previous posts in similar threads).

I have found chests that only gave me 3 T1 HP Pots, I have NOT found any chests that altered my fame or exp (I checked before I opened them and afterwards). I HAVE found a chest that gave me some solar eclipse boots or something for a MAGE even though I was an ARCHER (that was strange - still have the item too for when I make a mage).

Since my last post, (the one about the level-up quest) I have only received 1 completely empty chest..., but that's out of 10 (not including the ones in my last post), so the rate seems to have improved significantly, and I didn't check my fame on that one, so it IS possible that the chest gave me fame in that instance. Basically the last 9 or 10 chests though have just kept giving me elrues/lixes and t1 pots, would like to get some of those rare items I see for sale in Elderine everywhere, but I figure they're called "rare" for a reason, so I'll just keep trying! :)

Anyway, I'm not sure if they fixed the bug, or if it has something to do with the levelup quest (that's the only thing I can see as a constant in my anecdotal experiences), or if its just luck of the draw, but thanks GMs for looking into it nonetheless!

Yeah for some some reason you always get the wrong boots. If I play Cleric I get Archer boots. So Archer gets Mage boots? XD
