Open Beta will be reset like Closed Beta [Archive]

Do you believe Open Beta will be reset? Meaning, do you think all character info, levels, kron, items, will be washed clean just like closed beta just did? Due to the fact that it's called open beta, I believe this might be the case. Hopefully, not, though.

not shure closed betas almost always do , it may depend on what bugs or glitches are yet to be found and fixed

I dont think so, i think the month till open beta will be enough time to sort out the flaws or text or graphics which closed was for, and when open comes it will be the main game and they will just add\edit it as time goes by.

But thats just my opinion.

Well now that it's Open Beta there's going to be a huge amount of people playing it now. A LOT more than Closed Beta. Resetting charectors for so much more people would be a stupid idea. The game's going to be on a much larger scale and you can't exactly just wipe them all out without some sort of a fuss from the players...

I personally don't mind to reset my charac... It was done in wow and nobody complained- though there were guys that got a huge level already.

i dont think many games wipe between OB and gold, we'll have to see.

Theres many reasons to wipe and many ppl dont understand ..

i relly dont have any prob with wipe just hope all bugs ( if were found )
are fix now and new opend Maps and mobs were released.

I doubt it, I've seen it happen in some games before, but those were Free games, with the addition of the fiesta store, I don't think there will be a reset after the beta, there will probably be some new servers, but I doubt if the current ones will be reset, because a lot of people would be annoyed that they'd paid (real) money into the game for nothing, and I don't think the GMs would want to annoy players on that huge scale.

Btw ale-luja, Bijou is the name of one of the servers, the actual game name is Fiesta

Well I know atm we dont actually have to pay, and the store stuff is optional, but what i'm saying is that a lot of people will be annoyed if it gets reset after they've bought stuff from the store

Lotro didn't wipe the beta players accounts just opened more severs and new areas i wouldn't mind, but i might not play again, not sure either way. One its a fun free game. Two i did buy spark cash. Three i dont want to do the lvling again.

They will most likely wipe just like they did on Closed Beta because what people fail to understand is that not wiping creates unfair advantages. I've never beta tested a game where they didn't wipe all characters, closed and open beta alike.

if u dont kno acctualy at CB the items store were closed so u dont have to

it going to open at OB i think while CB was Closed cuz of the Wipe

Oh and yea i forgot LostChild. Yes they reset chars Not only Going to open new server they reset chars to lv 1 and ur stuff deleted stats etc etc .. only ur character remain

I wouldent be bothered if they did wipe it again but, i hope they don't because the forums will get flooded with posts from all the new open beta players complaining, which would be highly annoying lol

CB was whiped because it was a test open beta is like HEY GUYS COME ENJOY THE GAME while we get ready for Official so for them to let how ever many thousands of players come play open beta then whipe everyone all those kids who loved the game ( maybe not all but i know theres bound to be many) wont want to come back.. plus coming from CB and being whiped then going to OB and being whiped is restarted 1 to many times for me

For almost all free to play games between Open Beta to Gold they do not do a character wipe. The main reason is most F2P games open betas last for a long time. If you have an OB of more then a year and you do a wipe youll lose about 80% of the player base usually. 1 Year worth of time put in a game to be erased will kill a game mostly because in that year something else new would have come out and they can just move to that. As for the guy who played WoW and mentioned thier OB wipe..... it wasn't much of an OB. It was more of a stress test and lvling to max in wow takes about..... 6 days. Leveling in SoS takes much greater time with almost all of it being a grind. You can't compare P2P games and F2P for OB testing. The rules arent the same with each. That being said if they do wipe from OB to gold I'd quit if OB lasted 2-3 months+ but I dont personally think they will.

Since I played a lot of games that were betas, my characters were not deleted/downleveled. I got some special items o.o

They wont reset the OB like CB, they will just set out a patch that will bring it over from the beta to version 1..
If they did reset a second time which would be a seriously stupid idea... many many people would quit along with the people who quit the closed beta... Losing that many people will cause they game to close due to low population.. :(

From my experiences about 50% or a little more, theres another reset from open beta to game launch. Closed Beta is about getting bugs fixed to create a stellar game. Open Beta is still about that, but its also about giving player practical experience for when the game comes out to be ahead of the curve.

i know what your getting at... but i still doubt they will reset again.. my theory is they will just patch without having to reset...
i mean.. id still play if they reset again... but if they are going to actually reset again do it quick instead of letting us all get to max level wit leet gear lol GET US DOWN WHEN WERE NOOBS!!!

Threads like this one are stupid and they fail. You need to look around before making threads like this one, asking people to post weather they "THINK" OB will have a character wipe. And so you know. Almost NO games have a Wipe after an Open Beta.
They simply merge or split servers.

Open Beta data is usually not reset because that would drive alot players away. However in some cases I saw, the data still had to be wiped.

For example during ROSE open beta there were so many hackers that duplicated the rarest items ingame and there were like 10000+ of the rarest items on market, so they had to wipe after open beta ended.

DarkAges never had a full wipe during open Beta but they did have a few 'resets' *dazed still from the horror*. It only set you back say a few hours or so. Any experience, money, items, etc gained during that time was lost but at least it wasn't a total wipe. Then they actually had another reset after we were paying to play due to someone sleephunting (macro programs to raise skill levels) and others were duplicating rare items. Really, sucked but still better than a total reset. Not sure about outspark but I've never experienced a total wipe during a open beta only closed ones. Either way excited to play when it opens up. ;)

I think it will take longer than a month to fix all misspellings.For ex. I mapped all open areas and when you left Essence you can go to Cyroren Forest but if you leave Arcrinas Square the same map would be Thyoren Forest.Then there was Loem and Roem.Lets not even count all the miss spelling from the NPC's for quest.A few spells that did not work.And what ever i forgot or don't know about.LOL

We're curious, and telling us to relax (especially me) wont really help. Plus we all know when OBT is over there will be NO RESET... Hehe

I don't think the typos will take long to fix, there's many problems but there are many Outspark staff members working on it day and night. It's just the new additions that will take forever, like maps, npcs, potions, shop items, guilds, cash shops, bosses, monsters, etc.
