View Full Version : Study the game before OBT!

I wasn't able to play during the CBT (poor me) but I, in some sort of weird way, fell in love with the game the as I was browsing the net for some fresh new game... I usually study the game before it is released (before CBT [like in Lineage II Phil, played the CBT] or before OBT [Rakion Int]) and since i wasn't able to play during the CBT... Can I ask for guides? (all classes, probably in depth, I read some guides but most of them are incomplete or just cover skills... I do understand the reason for the lack of depth in guides [CBT])
Though I do want to show you guys the fruit of my research...
As far as I know...
(Correct me if I'm wrong...)

People can reset their stats as they are about to change class for the first time
/
Skills can be leveled up only on certain levels
Now I only have a few questions...
/
If I choose to be the of the alternate class (Archer, Predictor), will I also get a stat reset?
/
Is there a difference between a Male and a Female character ?(been confusing me coz I've seen some people discuss about what gender will be better for a certain class)
Hope you guys can add more knowledge about this game for me and also for other people who wishes to join the game... Thanks... ^^

You can reset stats at at any point and in any class after lvl 16(might be 20). No gender does not affect how your character plays, merely the way they look.

so far you buy level 1 skills from the skill book merchants but level 2 skills are dropped by monsters...we'll just have to wait until OB to see if they change that or keep it the same...

Many people like to play female healers for some reason. In many games I have played, healers have often been female, even when played by male players. Not really sure why - but no, gender has no bearing on character skills.
I wonder if we'll ever get different races... now THAT may had benfits and penalties.
i.e. Humans are average, no bonus, no penalty; elves +1 AGI +1 INT, -1 POW -1 CON, etc.

Personally, I'd like to see it left as is. It makes sense for a player-controlled market this way.

i hope we dont get races, and if by chance we do, it doesnt end up being the old human, elf, dwarf thing that were all bored of

I've always hated the race system.

Heh. You remind me a lot of myself, Jullz. I was looking for a fresh new game myself and for some reason fell in love with SoS. I don't know if it's because it reminded me of Ragnarok Online but I know I can't wait for OB. :D

Just something I suddenly considered: Does this game have lag?
As far as I remember, the game was made for the USA.
So, any person that doesn’t live there (and has played the game, of course) that could tell how the game fared for them would be great.
I tried this fiesta thing today and the lag made the game impossible for me T-T (and btw, my connection is decent enough)
With how much I’m wanting to play this game it would really suck to be unable because of the lag :(

Different game engines have different latency issues, even if you have a computer and internet connection that can handle the game. I remember playing Ragnarok Online on dial-up back in the late 90s, and seeing that SoS is using the same game engine as RO I can safely assume that lag won't be a big issue. Unless a lot of stuff is happening on the screen at the same time.

Every game has lag I've found out, it's just how bad of a lag that you have to worry about. Which I'm wondering as well. I wasn't in the CBT either so I'm not certain yet how it will run on my computer. Did anyone from CBT see any lag and when?
I'd like some idea on how to go about eliminating lag on my part but need information so I can play. Like will weekday nights be best and should I avoid playing on the weekends.

...yeah there was quite a bit of lag during CBT (I think some people in the forums have even made threads about it), but I'm guessing it was because there was only one server at the time with so many people on it...of course it lagged during events like Spawn City (because of all the monsters that were being spawned by the GM and a lot of players attacking)...hoping that the lag will lessen once OB starts...

There's lag. Weird lags. Like when you click one monster and you change your mind and quickly click a different monster, sometimes your char will still attack the first monster even tho you clicked away on time. (I've asked other players and they also experience this weird lag)

...that happened to me too...I usually end up dead because after the lag stops, there's a mob of monsters after me >_<...

Yup, the kind of lag Xanthe and Shiryou are talking about I suppose are rather normal things but what about not being able to even move or clicking somewhere just to see you character suddenly teleporting trough the place because of the lag?

yep experienced that too...think the worst lag I had was when I was using one of my skills and my character stopped attacking and stood there...then the game logged me off o.o...

Oh yeah... Forgot to ask some questions (scratches head)...
/
If i change job to from acolyte to predictor, will my skills also be reset like as a rogue changes job to archer?
/
I've read some stuff about archers and found out that agi can atribbute to your atk (1 agi = 1/2 atk)... Is this applicable to other classes?
/
I've seen some videos and I'd like to ask... Are battles here about skills rather than normal attacks (maybe we'd exclude rogues-felons--- class from this question)... Like Guild Wars maybe... If so... Are archers here like physical dmg "mages" (like in Lineage 2)?...
**I believe races won't do good in this game... Just diversity in classes would do, which the game offers (a bit... Yes I'm not satisfied with just 6 classes... I think cross classes would be good <mage knight, ranger [archer-fighter cross w/ pet...> where they would get some skill from the two classes and have their own skills too... Just contemplating... ^^)
**Lag (any type... moving, attacking, skill, stop and go, etc...) is very normal on any online game, especially if your internet provider isn't very compatible with the server... Plus the fact that the game was still on it's CBT stage... In OBT, the server would of course be optimized to accomodate the increase of players, meaning less lag... ^^
Anyway I hope OBT comes soon... ^^

Whenever you change jobs, you automatically reset skills. Status points and Skills. The acolyte skills will be gone, and would be replaced with predictor skills. Example, instead of having minor heal and the aco buffs, you would now have assist heal (not as good as aco's heal but its fantastic in its own ways) and your predictor self-buffs.

I understand if the predictor losses the aco skills, but does a clergy (I think that was the upgraded aco name) also lose it’s previous skills o.o?

only once while in the labyrinth there was a lag, no monsters, no other players. Next thing i know i'm dead with 4 creatures around me.

I can be wrong but I dont think you will. Because from what i saw, these advanced classes only have a couple of skills [like 2 or more]. So it is probably an additive thing.
