View Full Version : Events For Lower Lvls

Ive gone to alot of events now and i came to the conclusion. If your not high lvl. There not much fun. At least the events that envolve attacking things. Pretty much i go to those events and die. Then I get Revived and die 2 seconds later. The spawns are just way above my lvl(68currently). When they do actually spawn something low lvl( which is rare) The high lvls take those out in one hit.
I really feel there should be split somewhere in events like that because they really are for the 75+ range maybe higher then that. The pvp event that just was. I went to that to have a nice fight with people around my lvl. I would find myself being killed in one hit by a random high lvl usually interrupting a fight with someone i was having. My two guild members left pretty fast after getting annoyed. I dont know if its possible to split the events. Like 75 and below goes at this time and 75+ at this time. It gives people a chance to play with there other chars too. Another thought is still hold at same time but warp one group to one place and another group to another area.
Picinic Panic i know everyone thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread, not me. At the end i just watched my computer for 10mins cause i couldnt do anything.
Alot of low lvls come to the events and by the end most leave because there is no point. I went to an event with my neo once(49) and left with nothing gained at all.
Not everyone can be high and for new players the events just equal death and no fun. Lets give new players a reason to stick around by showing events can be fun. I know this might be asking too much to do but its just a thought.
Thanks

i actually liked events as a lower lvl, got to see monsters i've never seen before and got to see there attacks, both the monsters and the high lvls, its always fun to see how long i can survive and see the damage i do, its very fun
if u are one of them people that apparently get extremely mad at dieing, then an event is NOT the thing for u, events are 100% about having fun
with pvp, same thing, i LOVED the guild BAMF, they actually made pvp challenging, and wen u attacked then, they didn't just go cry about, no, they actually attacked back

It's hard to balance out events for everyone, i'm sure the gms do their best. Most of the people that go to events are mid to high level these days so events are geared towards attempting to give them a challenge. It is possible to try and divide events by holding them on multiple maps(or multiple towns) but would require extra planning and time. As for PvP events it is possible to divide them by utilizing the level pvp arenas, which are somewhat limited and could use some level adjustments.

I have been trying to come up with ideas to address this issue, chaoskin. There are some issues that make level exclusive events difficult to execute:
1) We do not have tools that separate toons by level, so any level exclusive events would need to be sorted by hand. This can be challenging when you have some 30+ players per event. On a side note, We do have a neat boys vs. girls event coming.
2) Fairness. No matter what happens, people will be unhappy at a level split for events. People will want to be in one event session when they are in another. We need to make sure the level split is fair and this will take some reviewing.
An example of a level segregated event we do run would be the Town Invasions. When we run this event, we make it so that each corner of the map has a different level range of monsters. We see more often than not, high level players will run to the low level areas and aoe there in hopes of getting lots of swag.

We ran a PvP event recently and I discovered that even tho it was a Last Man Standing event, people refused to attack each other because they are friends -_-. PvP events seem to work well in guilds, maybe a guild vs guild event?

When it comes to events that are seperated by level there is a way to sort people out to make sure you don't have people too high or too low in a tier. Simply move the meet spot to be in level pvp. This of course would have it's own set of problems with conflicting event tier levels and pvp tier levels.
Current Lvl PvP
Tier 1: Levels 1-27
Tier2: Levels 25-52
Tier3: Levels 50-77
Tier4: Levels 75-102
Tier5: Levels 100-127
Tier6: Level 125+
Event tiers would have to be adjusted to meet the pvp tiers, or pvp tiers re adjusted to be meet event tiers. I imagine with how it's currently set up If level pvp is used as a meet spot we'd have the following event tiers.
Tier 1: 1-52
Tier 2: 50-102
Tier 3: 100+
Only 3 tiers, and requires 2 warps for each tier, but everyone would already have been sorted by level at least.

To segregate events by lvls should be not hard to do, in other games GMs use event NPCs
which alow only correct levels to enter the proper map.
This requires some programming but should not be hard to do,
it would be something like the cupid event or the Maze NPC 10~30, 31~60.
I dont really see where is the hard part to make events by sets of levels is.
Requires work, but what doesnt, and normally if i need money i need to work
Instead of taking 10 min per event it would take 1hr or use multiple GMs so ea one takes care of ea group

On the flip side, latey it seems you can be too high level for events as well.
i dont go to many events, but once in a while if i see one, for example like an impulsive spawn in a town or something, anything to do with monsters really, its just not all that fun to go to because everything spawned runs.
but i dont complain about that mostly because what can a GM do about it? they can spawn highest leveld mobs we got for the few that can handle them thats there but how fair is it if 80% of people participating dies. its hard to make a balance
things like PoX, and waste disposal, which are planned are seperate by level and have no problems concerning level anyway. its the spur of the moment things.

Regarding high lvls. On the events like the invasion on Essene some days ago, was kind of sad to see low lvl players getting 50+ xens, and lvls 130+ getting 1 or 2 xens even when killing more mobs, im not saying low lvl players dont need nor they have the right to get good things, but.., what is the point of being high lvl if you can't get better things?.. Why not making the same drop rate inside towns?.
And for the low lvls, well, yes that's right, it's hard for a low lvl to enjoy one event if he's going to die every 2 seconds, and there are more low-mid lvl players than high lvl players, the problem making tiers for lvls is that it will make the event a bit boring, since you'll be with less players, and for high lvl players that means that they'll be on a event with just 3 or 4 players. Then... Why not trying an awesome solution, like making events with low to high lvl mobs, then if the mob is blue for you (that means you are too high) you wont be able to damage it, like the sheeps on candy, that way the only players that can kill those mobs will be the ones of the right lvl, on the other hand high lvl mobs (lets say cow legends) wont inflict damage to low lvl players unless they hit them. I know its a raw idea, and maybe kind of hard to implement it, but i think it's a good one ^^, everything is possible, right? i mean.. we can hatch elephants from eggs!!! that's not natural XD

There were Xen Stones?! I think you may be confused, we did not give out Xen Stones for that (or any) invasion (except for the Town Invasions). There were players joking that they got Xen Stones, but trust me, there weren't.
Why not making the same drop rate inside towns?
We can't adjust drop rates for entire maps. Only DNC can...if they even can. We are bound to the limitations of the software. What most people do not realize is that if you are way above or way blow the monster range and you kill the monster, you wont get a drop. This is the issue we have with 100s going to the lowbie areas during a POX or Town Invasion. They hope by AoEing 50 level 10s, they will get tons of stones. That is simply not the case. You need to be with in the monster level range to get a drop. The drop rate, as far as I know, is attached to the monsters and not to the maps.
like the sheeps on candy
No one can damage them. They are simply decoration.
To segregate events by lvls should be not hard to do, in other games GMs use event NPCs

This requires some programming but should not be hard to do,
Again, OS cannot do any programing. We can pass ideas along, but final decisions are up to the developer.
A lot of these idea are great, but involve programming we simply can not do. A lot of issues pertaining to levels in events comes from player responsibility. If you are level 100, do not attack a mob of 10s in hopes to get lots of swag. You won't. You are wasting your time and making it so those with in that level range definitely wont receive anything.
I have come up with some new events in April and May, many of them tiered events. Also, I have discovered a way to warp people based on level! Huzzah! I hope you guys check out the calendar when it is finished!!

The others where just ideas ^^ maybe to work on them someday soon, and of course those are things that we say in the hope that you GM's think of them and maybe from that you can see 1 or 2 good ideas and then you give them to the ones in charge to "create" the new stuff. Because in some way, all of this is basic stuff, we might want a dragon to ride it and see him using fire on everyone XD, but the fact is that we first need to solve some isues to enjoy a bit more the things we already have and the events that all the GM's work so hard to host for us.
But regarding this one, i dont remember the name of the event but we had xens drops from mobs I got 1 for killing the White tiger with his tiggys and other for killing a mob from Mardi (the only 2 mobs didnt ran from me) also i saw many low-mid lvls killing rabbits and somem ore mobs and getting xen after xen, also after the event they were selling tons of xens on essene <.< it was like a mini pox.

Yes. Apparently it is a tool we have had buried under mounds of Yeti fur and Pop Tarts. Woot for poking things with total disregard for possibly breaking things!
In other news, you can check the calendar for March! Let me know what you guys think. I omnomnom player feedback.
