Roleplaying Guild

As you may or may not know, I recently made a roleplaying poll and I have to say I was surprised by the number of replies it got.

Although I didn't get a chance to read through all of them I am confident that making a roleplaying guild when SoS goes live (or maybe in the open beta as long as the guild isn't deleted in the character wipe they may have) will not be futile.

Well, I just spent about 30min trying to describe the theme of the guild but I found a website that explains it better, haha.

The theme of the guild will be vampire, and the URL of the website is http://haven.wolfpaw.net/vampires.php

This will give you an idea of how the guild will be run as well as the lore that should be present in any type of roleplaying guild.

Even if nobody approves of my idea chances are I will still go through with it. I just want to know what you all think about it, and if possible, recruit potential vampire. ;)

since this is an MMORPG, doesn't it kind of go without saying that we're all roleplaying? RPG does stand for Role Playing Game, afterall...

And I don't really find a fascination in vampires. Or zombies. In fact, too many people have the opinion that there is a right and wrong with vampiric or zombie mythology. Quantum theory allows the arguement that nothing can be concrete because there's an infinite set of universes, each with their own set of rules. Perhaps in one universe, vampires can't stand moonlight. For example, the sun in that universe gives off two radiation waves, which together pose no threat to vampires, but the moon absorbs one set of those waves and reflects the other, which then becomes harmful to vampires.

And if anyone says that's the stupidest thing they've ever heard, I have no reason to argue with you. You'll either agree or disagree with quantum theory. It is just a theory, hasn't been proven yet.

You miss the point entirely....no, an MMO is 'not' a role playing game. You neither play a specific role or personality nor are you expected to be in character at all times. The instant someone is not involved with the game world is considered Out of Character, or OOC. This game is an OOC game by the very definition that no one is required to remain In Character or IC.

As for hating on vampires or zombies, wow, do you have any imagination at all? Do you read Harry Potter books so you can point out the scientific inaccuracies of quidditch? Maybe your the kind of person who saw Resident Evil and said "OMG! Theres no way a virus could do that!" If so, go read the latest non-fiction bestseller and rent the latest penguin documentary, you'll find you'll be much more entertained.

P.S. This thread is for starting an IC guild, as such you are in no way obligated to join, and logically the only other reason to even post in this thread is to 'troll'. To the OP, I think the idea is great, I posted in your last poll, and if you need any members PM here on the forums:D

I wasn't hating on anything, I was simply saying I'm not interested in vampires or zombies. And considering the situation I gave for an alternate universe vampire, I think I have an imagination. And what inaccuracies of Quidditch could there be? Wizards flying on broomsticks, which were enchanted by a spell to allow for levitational transport? And a virus that can reanimate the body is not that hard to accept. I would suggest getting a clear idea as to what "hating" is in the first place. I didn't say vampires were stupid or dumb. "hating" would be me deliberately saying vampirs and/or zombies are retarded ideas and that anyone who thinks they're cool are idiots. I said nothing of teh sort, I only said I don;t like that most people have the opinion that there is only one right way to perceive vampires and zombies and other such mythological creatures. Or do you find my disbelief in their existence to be a principle of hating?

And those who wish to quote my "I'm not going to argue" statement, that was about quantum theory, not being accused of "hating" on an idea.

It's an interesting idea as I use to do such in WoW on the rping servers. I'm just not too into playing Vampires. But maybe once I get my feet wet when OB happens and get used to the game I'll check it out or we can see if another guild in the realm of ICness can be made. Like a 'Hunter' Guild or such to do some friendly IC combat and such.

Of course I'm just babbling ideas out and don't want to do too much thinking until I've actually jumped into the game as it takes a bit of fiddling to do an rp group in such a setting as this.

Having a rival guild sounds like a fine idea. On another note I came up with the guild name.

Hard to really explain things in text but when OB comes out it will be a bit easier to explain how things will be done in the guild.
