Somehow funny to state that this "trick" , almost everybody unconsciously uses, should always work. :rolleyes: Sorry but that's just humbug! There is always a certain chance that the refining fails or the weapon breaks. Outherwise there would be a lot of +9 equip floating around, even in Roumen. As joecracker said it's a luck-thing. And the only chances to increase the chances are lucky and blessed Stones and the Fiesta-Shop items (red mill, etc.). If you think you really got a system, then post us a pic of all your armors and weapons +9. :P
PS: Don't blame me if you get down and out on your way ... it was your idea after all. ;)

i used to always go in a pattern, like the top left, top, top right, repeat, now i mostly do top left, for some reason i prefer it....

I hate it how people think there is a trick... there is no trick its just some people are luckier than others thats all... its a 50-50 chance usually but if you have freakin good luck then keep enchanting your weapons... and also if you enchant your weapons for a while and get a couple of titles for it i think your enchanting skills go up so you don't break items that often... i don't risk it because i don't want to buy another weapon if it breaks

It works for me. Just place item in the center. Elrue or Lix of whatever you use on top. LEt it rotate and click the button to tart for the second time once it has come to a stop and comming over the Elrue. THAN you click it. This has a 75% chance of working.

To attack this logically, then since computer generated numbers aren't random, and if we can sample the random numbers generated (depending on the source of the randomness), then perhaps we can arrive at a slot where the sucess rate is highest due to highest repetition from the said source.

even if there IS a slot with a higher chance, (I dont think there is) it would be a tiny tiny higher chance. Like 0.0001% or something. Nothing that would make a noticable difference. Give it up, make some money, and upgrade till you get what you want, that's all there is.
I recently started my own "Quest" to get a +9 light bow, and either keep it for the cool looks or sell it, depending on how much it cost me to make it. I keep two light bows and upgrade the lower of the two, that way I alwasy have at least one upgraded one. Right now I have a +6 Light bow, and I have spent 9s 805c on replacing broken bows, elrue, and lix.

Hi I got the Title Triumphant Enchanter for a few seconds ago and I had a little trick...
Get a whole bag full of elrue's then buy like 5 noob weapons for 30c ea. if you fail click quit then re click it again until you succes 3 times in a row then you try you main or back-up weapon (allways have a back-up weapon if you should lose it) the rate of this "trick" is aroun 75-92% succes
Edit:
Oh I forgot I did this with green "regular" stones only (no blessed or lucky)
Blessed gives 5-10% higher chance to succesed
Lucky gives 15% to get 2 up insteed of 1

there is no trick, but my belief is that everytime you use a stone, regardless of fail/success, it'll reduce the number of boxes that'll end up succeeding... so like if by some chance that ur wep doesnt break after 9 tries, i believe there's a very little to no chance of upgrading any further... thats only if its still unbroken after 9 tries tho XD

There IS no trick, not even the '9 tries' trick (otherwise, I would've broken alot more items). This is no different than four leaf clovers and rabbit's feet.

there is a trick to it because the box most of the time goes down cause gravity pulls it down so put it on the top or next to it

I don't even want to try. Usually with me it breaks with 80% and success for 20%

The SHN piles have been unpacked and looked at multiple times. there is NO PATTERN. its just a poorly built random number generator, so there is some deviation which people assume to be patterns through the power of suggestion.

There isn't really a trick with enhancing. Some people say that certain boxes seem to "not fail" for them more, but you can't know this for sure unless you travel back into time and try it for an other box (and it fails) -_-
Also want to note that the enhancing success/failure is already decided the moment you click BEGIN, the rotating boxes are just to make the enhancing process more exiting (that's why when you make an item +8 or +9 you see the announcement "blabla has acquired the title Enhancement Artist/God" before the boxes are done spinning :D)

Because I started to spend too much on weapons / armors / blessed stones I made a new toon especially for testing enchanting process. Btw, I lost a day,about 70s and countless normal/blessed/lucky stones testing this, so there is no need for you to repeat :).
Heh, best I've got without red eyes/blue miles was a +6 green hammer lev 20. Ofc I break it at the next attempt.
1. The title you got for sucessfull enchanting / breaking items appears on screen before the spinning is over => all the rotation thing is just a nice effect, so clicking on sky, on empty boxes or on adiacent characters will NOT increase your chances. The odds are decided in the moment you click on "enhance" button.
2. I belive there is a fixed chance based on: enchatment status of item / item level / item status / enchanter level / enchanter class vs item class, as follows:
if enchanter level is lower than enchanting object level requirements the chance is decreased greatly (I'd say with 50%, maybe more) - so don't try to enchant a sword for level 50 with a level 1 toon, even with red eyes and blue mile.
also the class seems to be taken in consideration, I had more failures with a lev 10 mage trying to enchant a lev 1 fighter sword than I had with a lev 1 fighter trying to enchant a lev 1 sword. (I think ~ 10% is substracted if the class does not fit)
the 1-st elrue seem to have a 90% chance of success.
green items have a lower chance of sucess. (yes, I tried even green items)
I believe the percentaje decreases with 5% after each sucessfull enchantment, then with 10%, then with 15%:
elrue
------------
+1 -> 90%
+2 -> 85%
+3 -> 80%
lix
------------
+4 -> 70%
+5 -> 60%
+6 -> 50%
xir
------------
+7 -> 35%
+8 -> 20%
+9 -> 5%
blessed stones have indeed a +5 or +10% added chance of success (only 5% imo) and lucky stone of extra status but also are lowering the chances (about 5% I think)
might be just my feeling but I THINK also the blacksmith influences somehow the result; I believe Roumen is "good" for items lev 1-15, Elderine for 20-30, Sand Hill for 30-40 and Uruga for 40+ (is just a unverified hunch, don't count on that)
bottom line, I think is an ecuation like:
(success)% = (item)% + (stone)% + (level)% + (class)% + (red_eye)% + (blue_mile)% + (luck)%
where:
(item)% = level the enchantment of item (+1 -> +9) (90% -> 5%)
(stone)% = stone is normal / blessed / lucky (0%, +5%, -5%)
(level)% = player level versus item level (0% or negative percent)
(class)% = player class versus item class (0% or negative percent)
(red_eye)% = presence of red eye (0%, 50%, +100%)
(blue_mile)% = presence of blue mile (0%, 50%, +100%
(luck)% = see below #3
3. Characters seem to have at lest 1 hidden stat: luck. I remade my toons a lot - I just deleted my main for the 6-th time (last one was lev 29 :P). Some toons seem to be very lucky (green drops, jackpots, chests) and other not. As an example, I have a mage (int build) who fights unbelievely well but he never got a green item. On the other side, I have a cleric (spr/end build) that have green drops on a regullar basis. Also he never got less than a +3 item from KQ. If this is true, this stat sure influences the negative odds (breaking / downgrading / plain failure). (Btw, this cleric have first 3 "good" enhancer titles (apprentice/rookie/lucky) but none of the bad ones (unlucky/item spoiler/etc). I never used red eyes or blue miles with him.)
Heh, it seems - again - I wrote more than I intended. Maybe I should start a new thread about this enhancement thingie :).

GM steam once told me that they use true random in enhancing....wonder if that's correct and/or has changed.

I believe that Haiid is correct on several aspects.
My observations (and I am a very good observer) on enhancing are as follows.
1. The wheel of lights is a visual effect only and the position of the enhancing stone on the wheel has nothing to do with the outcome.
The outcome is instantly calculated and generated as soon as the button is pressed.
2. The higher an item is successfully enhanced to, the greater the failure rate becomes.
I don't know about percentages but at +8 - +9 the failure rate and breakage rate is extremely high.
Without the use Perfect Red Eye and Perfect Blue Mile insurance used together, it is the next thing to impossible to ever get any item from +7 to +9
Even with the insurance it still costs a lot of Elru and Lix and a whole bunch of Xir and a lot of Perfect Red Eye and Perfect Blue Mile insurance to get from +0 to +9
So far I have successfully enhanced 6 items to +9
3. The more a character enhances, the more their "skill" at enhancing seems to improve and increases their success rate.
Answer to question in advance:
No! I will not enhance anything for anyone else.
I hate gambling and it makes me very emotional and irritable.
I just sell the stuff at market value.
