View Full Version : A suggestion for forum mods: block the "S" word

I've been on the forums for the last hour or so and already, three new "server" threads have popped up, mine more or less included, albeit theirs is mostly about "When is it gonna come back on, tee hee?"

So I was thinking, if there was a way for forum mods to control the "SERVER NOT WORKING" threads whenever there's a server failure, just block the word during that time. It would save the mods the trouble of going to every single one and repeat themselves by saying "there's already a thread on it. K, thx, bye"

Considering people find their way around the words already being blocked by the censor, I don't think this would hinder anyone from creating the threads.

I don't mind posting on each thread, I have some time to kill before I leave for the movies. Besides, copy/paste works wonders.

True but still, it would lighten your workload somewhat if there was a way of doing filters. It never ceases to amaze me when there's like, 5 duplicates in the space of an hour at times. As if they're thinking "well, look at that, there's already 4 of them but I'm gonna make myself seem special by putting up an another one and that'll get their attention, since I'm so important and all"

>__> Sigh...makes me wonder if they even bother to scroll down or even read the others...

In some cases users feel that their questions won't receive attention from a staff member if its posted in an already established thread. So a new thread gets created regardless of how many are already in existance.

We do what we can to answer the question, close the thread and refer them to the others if they wish to continue their discussion. If a staff member gives an update they will either post a new thread themselves or post in an already established thread where everyone is going to look.
