new and a quick question

Hey I'm new and this probably sounds stupid but what is a tank?

In short...a fighter.

Well, a bit more than just a fighter. A tank is generally a warrior geared for maximum defense so as to take the brunt of an attack from monsters (usually bosses), thus leaving other party members to dps and heal without interruption.

Not necessary a fighter or warrior, other classes such as clerics could be tanks. Tanks are mainly the one who will be recieving all the damages, and thus needs to have high defense OR the ability to stay alive long enough for your teammates to finish off the monsters.
