While questing a few days ago I had a think about the odd damage system in Fiesta, about why the damage seems so low when fighting monsters and other players and you use one of your skills. I came up with a little theory about why this might be.
Rather than the equation I used to assume:
Total Character's Dmg + Skill's Additional Damage - Enemy's/Target's Defence = Total Damage dealt.
This is what I believe is actually the equation Fiesta is running:
(Total Character's Dmg - Enemy's Defence) + (Skill's Additional Damage - Enemy's Defence) = Total Damage dealt.
In other words, the defence of your target is subtracted from both your base attack power and your skill's additional attack power.
Say you have a Fighter with 1000 - 1150 Dmg, and their Power Hit has 1400 - 1600 Additonal Dmg, and your facing off another player that has 700 Defence. If your Fighter was to use Power Hit against the other player and we apply my original equation, then the maximum damage you would cause would be 2050 and the lowest would be 1700. Assuming this other player is of a similar level, this number seems pretty high considering.
Using the other equation, the maximum amount of damage Power Hit would cause would be 1450 while the lowest would be 1000, which despite still being large numbers seems closer to what we actually get during fights in Fiesta.
This theory is only my opinion and I'm not saying that is how Fiesta actually works, more along the lines of what seems to make sense. Of course it could be BS as hitting a slime with Power Hit causes the numbers to go off screen despite the lowest defence they could have is 1 (or 0, I dunno if Fiesta lets defence drop that low)
Anyway, there ya go.
