Two things, actually:
This morning when I logged on, my character wasnt there. I picked a different server this time, would that change it?

And how do you get new clothes?

Yes, your character lives on the server you chose the first time. If you choose a different server you can make new characters there but you can't use your first one.

New clothes are available from the smith as you level up. Ever 2 levels normally you can buy a new item, first shoes, then the hat, then pants and finally a new shirt ^^
