Thanks for the town invasion event today, it was great!

Just a quick suggestion for future events, do not spawn monsters next to warp-in areas or transporters. Its no fun warping in and dieing immediately.

While I agree with you and wish that it was possible to corral the monsters, I don't have the ability to control them! They kind of have minds of their own.. especially under the influence of Alastor's dark powers!!

The only things I didn't like was the incredible amount of monsters that were spawned all at once in several areas, lag city you know. Then again I blame my laptop on that one. Anyways is there anything that can be done about rez killing? Monsters more specifically hob goblins and lizard griffons stalked both of the transporters on the edge of the city and rez killed my warrior and my scout. Maybe a after rez/warp buff/state that renders one unattackable? Kind of like how it is in fiesta where for the first few seconds you enter a map nobody and no monster can attack/aggro you.


Oh and another suggestion, if at all possible host the town events in 2 or 3 towns not just one to spread people out a bit? I remember long ago around the time I first started the GMs actually changed the level requirements on transporters preventing people under a certain level from going to another town that was under attack. I remember a lvl 70 level requirement once to warp to essene. To keep high levels from dominating possibly set a temporary level caps as well to prevent people over level from warping, and have to run from another town.

this was one of the best events i been to in a LONG, LONG time, 2 hour monster spwn event with xens? i loved it
hope we have many more events like this one.

but my one suggestion would be, instead of just xen drop, they should drop leather, wood, ssf, and other pet quest items, and silk and stars and stuff

I'm fine with just the xen drops, leather, ssf and wood are easy enough to find now. Its a nice alternative to the exclusive Pursuit of Xen (says the person who's never participated in PoX >.>).

I'm (and by "I'm" I mean "We are") glad you guys liked it. You seriously cleaned those monsters up.

I'm not sure about the "restricting warp gates to certain levels". We can warp people of certain levels using our special magic powers (See:Blue School), but not sure about an alteration like that...

I'll make a note to take warp/spawn points into consideration (tho the 'coming out of the hotel and watching 20-or-so Lizard Griffins mob an unsuspecting person was worth a laugh). As Bondo said tho, controlling them is a wee bit hard.

I know such a change was possible at one time, it was back in the days of cretz and rider if i remember right. I wish i grabbed a screenshot now it was so long ago. For minimum level's anyways.

Yeah it is funny coming out of a hotel to be torn apart :p, coming in from a save recall point a few dozen times even when it seems safe... was fun for a while i admit but did get old since 3 of my characters have a respawn point in essene at the time.

I loved the event it was a lot of fun, but I think monsters should be spawned in more then one city. I remember an event like this when essene had low lvl mobs eir had mid range lvl mobs and jot had high lvl mobs. because now when a high lvl uses his aoe all the monsters run to one corner of the map creating a super lag spot there.

Still this was one of the best events in a while ty gms

I don't think that the GMs can change anything in-game without putting in an update to the game code and I've never seen that O.o maybe they did one of those update things without turning off the server, but that usally causes a bunch of people to dc.

I distinctly remember they did change the npcs, even lowered the level requirement to warp to jot o.o. Then again I was a nub squire at the time susceptible to the message of being too low of a level to even warp to essene for an hour <.<.. If it was through an update without turning off the server they've done that before. I don't recall anyone complaining about dc'ing when the alchemist was glitched, then fixed without a maint.

This was a fun event as always. I particularly liked the length of it. I would prefer that Alastor sends monsters that exclude the clock, but not much we can do about it.

would be nice to have this event on when you gm's first get into work rather than the afternoon. then people from other parts of the world can enjoy the events too.

Phibes. if you don't think high levels should get xens from low level mobs, then WHY are you spawning them in the middle of town? that is why POX events are tiered.

and, as you stated later in your post:

if you are so opposed to SC entry into events, then make an in game item the entry price, say one xen, an aloe, whatever.

and oh, i pity the fools that actually believed the Censor wasn't a shameless money grabbing stunt.

i am probably one of the most opposed to unfair play, but it is the GAME DESIGNER's JOB to make a game fair and balanced, not the player's.

if you plan events in which high level players can aoe starbears, don't be any more surprised to see them circle trapping than you are when lvl 40s die after having 200 Cowlegends spawned on them.

you cannot pin the blame on the players who are simply (even if selfishly) playing the game as it has been presented to them.

the same issue exists for the plvling problem. if people can do it, they will. other games don't have this problem like SoS, because the exp curve is based on level. party with someone too different in level than you, and both get poor exp. again, a game design flaw, not a community issue.

this isn't exactly like real life, where it's up to individuals to choose to do right despite the opportunity to do bad.
in an online game, although the players are out of the designers control, the choices they have are not.
the choices a player has are the direct result of game design.

therefore:

*deep breath*

although there ARE fair, courteous players and greedy, opportunistic players...
these problems are not a result of players. they are a matter of poor game design, despite thousands of helpful suggestions from faithful, intelligent, and experienced players.


i love SoS! i love my friends in this game! i play every night (despite wondering why sometimes).
so, Outpark, GMs, etc...
make it worth playing, and don't blame the players so freely for exploiting game flaws the designers/event planners put there.

you all know i <3 you, GMs :P

You guys all talk about having level requirements and such...

What if instead of a town invasion [that's like, soooooooo common ;)] what if the GM's "Gathered The Forces Of Justice!!!" into one area and then did their level warp thing to another map? Maybe a normal map that's really far away so not that many people would be in it. Or even the Trisects, now that would be funny. ;) Warp different levels to different maps... now it just sounds exactly like PoX. D:

its not the developers fault that high lvls are attacking low lvl monsters in events, the developers arn't making them attack lower lvl monsters, if high lvls want to attack lower lvl monsters, and not monsters there lvl, let them, but i'm going to give them just as much respect as leechers, none

totally agree wid chites the low levels are just in sooo much disadvantge during the town invasion event. i liked the idea of warping people to maps by level but thats kinda hard to fo i think..what if dey make the town invasion in diffrent days for diffrent levels like monday lvl 45-60 tues different level make it like a dimensional drift thing wer u can get xen stones and people are of the same levels almost :D
