Petition: Standalone game client without O+ launcher

Please provide us a most recent standalone game client to download without the O+ launcher bundled.

Recent, as in fresh to the last major weekly/fortnightly/monthly major patch update. Not having to download all the patches for previous months when I do a fresh install of the game.

The O+ launcher is buggy, problematic and detracts from the gaming experience. Many of us have been complaining.

And even if it were not buggy and problematic, most of us detest having something forced down out throats. You can offer perks eg. extra Sparkcash to players to encourage them to install O+ as an additional optional feature.

If you want to promote your content delivery/game management platform just like Valve's Steam, I say forget about it.

Take out the word petition (seeing as petitions are against the ToS) and I agree. The old launcher should be put back up. Two of my friends can't get on because O+ doesn't work, one of which quit for good (I think o.o).

Sigh.... O+ again huh, I do agree it sucks, it causes a bunch of problems and is also flawed in a number of ways. For example you can't use your spark ID to log in, you are forced to use your email which for most players is fine, however for others some alt accounts had to be abandoned. It also continues running while the game is up using some of your computer's processing power possibly contributing to some lag players encounter. Finally one more flaw is O+ forces you to install on your C Drive even if you want to install the game on another one. I'm sure there are more but yeah, O+ is a fail launcher.

Oh and yeah, petitions are not allowed on the forums.

I agree, i dont like O+. I'm using a save file of the old launcher i have. Problem is, if i have to reinstall, i have to update from like november 09. ;___;

Agreed, I hate the O+ launcher.

Keep in mind though that once you get logged onto SoS, you CAN right click the O+ icon and exit it. The game still runs. There is still a "SoSClient.exe" process running in the background in addition to the usual "XenClient.exe", but for me it only takes up 10MB on memory and I *think* it ran even using the old launcher.

But I still don't like it. It's bulkier, takes longer to load, and saves your login information by default (sorry, but I LIKE having to put in a password every time I go to log in; it's more secure).

And I still REALLY don't like Pando. I would suggest everyone delete Pando as soon as they are done downloading/installing the game, to be sure it's not sneaking your processor/bandwidth when you're not looking.

Is that new? I remember some petitions on the forums back when I used to play (including one I started myself) and nobody said that was against the rules.

And why make it against the rules? It makes them look like they are just trying to squelch public complaints/dissent...

I'm fine with O+ if it is not buggy and does not use PMB. At least PMB should be removed automatically after the game client is installed.

I'm also using an old exe file to launch the game (Dec. 2009 I believe it is). While it doesn't have the O+ bundled with it, the Pando Media Booster is there. I agree with the above posts regarding PMB. It performs poorly, and seems to do the exact opposite of it's intended use. I uninstall it immediately whenever I do a fresh SoS install.

I agree with this. An updated launcher would be awesome... Since I have a lot of problems with O+, I'm using an old laucher too... but my launcher is from Nov 2008 XD, so you can imagine that it's a pain to update 4GB after some maints because i get the xenclient Error <.<, at least i have'd to reinstall the game 10+ times this year.

Personally since I can log use O+ im okay with it... but I must say that I find it a hassle to use because the log-in option on the launcher rejects my user email and password even though I checked to have typed them correctly...

I can only log onto OS website to log in den open my O+ launcher for it to work.. havent found any better way to get around this yet :X

Is there an advantage using the new launcher? I have both on my machine so I can use either.

i guess only when its installing SOS its faster it seems as it auto downloads and install..
