Better at enchanting?

im just wondering if mages have more luck at enchanting than the other classes. because on my mage character i barely lose an item, yet on my other character (a Cleric), so far i'm up to 5 maces destroyed in a row, and to scared to try to enchant the other mace.

so does anyone know if mages have more luck? or am i just hopeless?
