Not even close to the truth. STR is the single most useful stat for a DPS archer.
Free-stat strength completely ignores mob defense. If you do 100 damage and you have +50 strength, you will do 150 damage.
A combination of STR and SPR is probably the most common archer build. Some go DEX, which I find much closer to "useless" myself. Some go with some END, which has some benefits, but for overall damage, you simply can't be STR. SPR is nice, as well, but for raw damage, nothing beats STR.

I say str is only useful in the long run. But if u add little into it like 10 it wont make much of a difference

At lvl 10 it doesn't need to make much of a difference anyhow.
