Smelting & Opan

I have 2 questions:

1. What is Opan's Tear? How is it supposed to be used?

2. How should I use Smelting and Manifacturing System? I go in the refinery but NPC keep telling me that "smelting is impossible". What kind of jewels do I need?

Opan's Tear is an item needed for one of the furniture quests, I believe in the level 4x range.

Some of the NPCs at the Alchemist and Blacksmith don't do anything yet....which is something Outspark might want to consider changing soon. *hint hint*

If you wish to manufacture furniture, many NPCs all over the world offer furniture quests. All furniture quests require a Carpenter's Hammer, which is a level 16 quest available from an NPC in Brynnhild.

Gear can be refined with Xen Stones and a few other special scenarios (such as the incubator from the pet quest) call for other materials, but that's about it. The refinement/enhancement/smelting system in this game isn't exactly world-class.
