View Full Version : Was it hard for you when you started Fiesta??

When you first started to play the game fiesta did u have any trouble finding the controls to the game? Did you had truoble with the talking and the shortcuts and finding your place around. Did you die in Sea of Greed and ended up in a place you have no idea where you were? I know i did :)/

So funny that you described every step that I went through. For the first 5 levels, I had no idea how to talk to others. When I finally figured it out, I went around town shouting "I can TALK". In retrospect, that was kind of funny. I went to beach and got wiped out with one hit. Ended up using my only Return to Rouman scroll to get back on track. That's when I realized in this game, you have to stay put and build up lvls before venturing out too far.

I ALWAYS completely explore my UI before I ever take a step in the game. It is crutial to learn what EVERYTHING does. I clicked every icon( then right clicked them),I experimented with shift, ctrl, alt, etc. I pressed every button on my keyboard. You name it I tried it.People are terrified of their UI and I don't understand why. It will not bite you. You simply MUST know how to operate the game correctly. Not learning it is not only detrimental to your playing pleasure, but also to people around you.
I found shift+z, "command prompt", how to cycle through the hotbars ( and make sidebars),how to talk, all on my own within minutes of first logging into the game.I am not trying to be mean, but people need to slow down and take the time to figure this stuff out. When you get a new car do you not learn how to turn on the wipers, lights, where the horn is,etc.? The same should apply here.
I am a 11+ years veteran of MMO's and I know how vital it is to learn your UI first.Common sense would dictate this.
But as Samuel Langhorne Clemens once said:
"Why is common sense so damn uncommon?"

It wasn't hard for me, I didn't explore the UI. I just started playing, did the tutorial thing. Didn't read any of it and just started playing it like I'd been playing it for ages. I never had to ask any questions. The only thing I had trouble was with shouting, but eventually got it to work. This is also only my first true MMO. =3

This game is not friendly to new users.
The comments above come from 11 year veterans of MMOs! Of course it was easy...for that type of person. If you're a new player, this game has a steep learning curve and no tutorials, walkthroughs or instructions. Trial by fire only, which unfortunately will scare away most players new to this type of game.

I did the exact thing you did, Takako, referring to the go to the Sea of Greed, thing. (Though it's really stupid, 'cause there's even a sign that says, "NOT FOR NEW PL4YERZ!!1!!!1!" or something to that effect.) As for the controls, though, I found those out pretty quickly, and now it's easy, 'cause I have a controller.

LOL not really, and this is my second mmorpg too.
but then i like to read up on how to do things i mean when you first log in it says press f10 for help ...that's the first thing i did
the main thing i had issues with, was i started chatting then i couldn't get into my home~
till i accidentally pressed enter again and all was well.
also there were a lot of friendly players who taught me stuff and pt'ed with me so i didn't end up totally lost.

If you aren't a gaming expert then probably you have trouble with this...
but if you are a gaming expert you could probably learn the controls in a matter of seconds or minutes... now I did have trouble in the beginning getting used to the game... but also reading the manuel while the game loads for like an hour does help...
next time when you start a game read the manual that always helps

I figured out the chat part the first couple of minutes (said "Hi everyone!"), took me 10 minutes to figure out the go find Healer Julia quest and about 10 minutes to get to the training spot. took me about 5 minutes to understand the controls and took me 18 levels to figure out I had to exit the chat box to rest lmao

Actually there is a sign xD. It says not for beginners and says for level 11-20 I think.

ROFLMAO!!!
I am level 38 now and I still have problems with the chat bar and resting. I keep forgetting to hit enter or esc to close it to rest! *Giggles*
I really had no problems with getting started. To be honest, this is actually the first 3D MMO game I have played, not the first game, just the first online 3D game (Except for Age of Empires, that started out as standard computer game). I had some help along the way, met nice people, etc. I try to help others when I can, and I am not trying to grind exp.
Some newbies just choose not to read through things and instantly run off to get themselves killed. And I really can't say I feel sorry for them. If they can't take the time to read simple and important stuff, then they won't make it further than Rumen.

Hey what did you mean a controler. I have a controler too but when i go to shortcut options it says type in key. I try it by pressing a button on the logitech controller i have but nothing happens. Help please? Maybe I"ll post a new forum for this. :)

In fact, it's a bit confussing at start but, every single mmorpg i played wos it too (and i played several...) guys like me taht floted from 1 mo to another, read the manual in the time the game is in download process, and start from a base, this is a question of person joining. Of course it would be better for new players to make a tutorial island. (Skipable or skilled players would kill me :P )

For all of those that are having trouble with your chat window, here is a tip:
Open options (the "esc" key) go to game settings. On the right at the bottom you will see "Command Prompt", Uncheck this then click apply.
Now your chat window will auto-close after every messsage eliminating the need to press "enter" again to close it.

Yes, it was really hard. Fiesta was my first MMORPG so I didn't know how to look at my inventory, look at skills, upgrade, and when you get a quest from someone who you already had a quest for I wouldn't do it because I didn't see the un-open egg above the NPC's head.
And when I learned tab auto-targeted about a week before the end of Closed Beta 2 I was pretty much like 0.o so yeah... pretty hard. Didn't understand how to get in KQs until lvl 10 either.

it was mixed...of both hard and not.
the chat... for some reason I had a hard time knowing how to talk...
the other controls are okay.
the location grid system was kind of new to me too. my first time, I just noticed people screaming "rez at D4" or something like that, then I went to my map and searched D4... what D4?!? XP LOL
And I also found it hard to choose locations... where to grind. HEck,, I discovered Sea of Greed when I was lvl 17 >.> (where I could have been there earlier)

I was never lost in the game and never had to ask anyone on questions on how to play. Every single game I played, I ALWAYS check for the controls.

I didn't have too much of a hard time starting out, i did try out f10 for the guide and got some information from there, but it wasn't really that helpful. Other than that i figured out the controls pretty easy. Though i didnt figure out how to type in chat until nearly level 12 XD.
I did find someone who was really nice and explained to me and another friend who also started the game with me how to join KQ's, how to sell bulk items <.< kinda got annoying right clicking repeatedly.
I also payed attention to what people said in chat, so i knew where to find things, what things were for when i wasn't going off exploring on my own.

Well, not really. The help menu really uh.. helped. xD I didn't know about skills and quests at first so I just started hitting slimes without them. ^^;;

No, I got the hang of it the first 10 minutes. Of course I didn't know where all the NPC's were and all that - but in general it didn't take long to figure out the controls.

I found it pretty easy, easier then a few other games I've played. They're pretty explanatory on the keys and all.
I didn't go to the sea of greed Until I had a quest there I think; something just told me to say "no" whenever Maria asked me if I wanted to go there.
Which brings up the issue that they really need to put a level restriction on sea of greed so that level 1's don't go there on accident (and so that gold sellers can't get to elderine right away but that's another discussion)

Go through sand beach and into the forest of mist to fight greenkies, phinos, phinoflys, ratmen and boars (if you can, they might still be orange to you). Have you already fought regular honeyings, hungry wolves and hobs?

It took me three minutes to figure out that I could move the camera around.
It took me until around level 10 to figure out kingdom quests.
It took me until level 25 to figure out how to control aggro by movement.
By level 27 I'd got clanking, level 33 I'd got a pretty solid idea of aggro ranges. By 34 I was funking out in Uruga.
At 50 I figured out how to hold mass aggro from large mobs solely with heal, rejuvenate and restore.
My knowledge of the game grew with my level, which I think is the way it should be. Low levels making mistakes, high levels knowing everything about the game.

I did get to know the controlls pretty quickly, except i still hit my HP/SP stone keys while trying to strafe :P The biggest problems i had (& partly still do) was not knowing where to go for some of the quests, not being able to see the monster lvls, & figuring out how to train my skills (forums ftw). But it's still a great game so far :)

I found the gameplay it self, not hard, but as for finding out how to do some things and where things are located, made it hard in that aspect, especially since the official page dosen't really have much of a guide. It got simpler once I got onto fiesta fan sites and read guides on how things work and are found

There is a level restriction it just doesn't work. Like I said there is a sign that says not for beginners on it in red. That should be enough to say you don't belong there.
