dmg formula??

was wondering if anyone know what the damage formula was? cause me and my friend swapped weapons, 2h axe and 2h sword, when I used his axe I did 10 more dmg then my sword and he did 30 more dmg with his axe then my sword, he was lvl 27 and im 22 but im a str build while hes end, this was hitting the same monsters, anyone know how dmg is calculated?

Maybe he had Axe Mastery and you not?

nope we both had no masteries, we were trying to figure if we should go axe of 2h
