When you turn level 20 got to Elderline and talk to the guard standing in the middle of the for skill masters in front of a statue. When you talk to him click quest list and click the quest that says something about powering up or promotion after you talk to him and complete the quest talk to him again and he'll tell you to go see guard Sean in the forest of mist. Go talk to him and accept his quest and you will be transported to the shadow place where you must fight yourself in order to get the promotion.
