I just had a trade occur with a friend but something went odd with her end -- I was able to lock and approve the trade, closing the window and having it say 'trade completed' in the system messages...while on her end, she was still waiting for me to lock.
I was giving her 1 silver and some torn leather...the torn leather was returned to me immediately when this glitch happened, but my 1 silver disappeared, neither in her nor my inventory.
Eventually I ran over to an NPC shop to sell some stuff, and as soon as my money count changed, the 1 silver magically reappeared. So from what I can tell, it's a graphic glitch with how money is returned to its original owner after a glitched trade. Once the money count changed, it refreshed and re-detected the 1 silver.
This is not a serious glitch, but it's worth looking into, I think.
(As to why the trade menu glitched in the first place, it may have to do with my friend clicking on a nearby NPC while we were trading. I'm not sure.)
