Well, mages are weak and they are difficult to play with, but at the same time everything is possible absolutely like with all the rest of classes. You may simply try it out and i'm sure you will like being a mage on the lvls after 20.
Production skills you need are - scrolls and potions, that's the best out of everything. I made a mistake that i have chosen stones prod skill, i guess potions i need much more all the time. But anyway...
