View Full Version : Do I really have to grind 70% of level 76? -- a whining rant about the quest drought

I've been grinding my way through the first half of the 70's and I've survived because everyone said "it's gets better at 76, be patient, it gets lots better". So when I got to 76 I expected maybe one repeatable or one epic quest. But, no, I got four quests that, combined will provide about 30% (maybe 35% if I solo all of them). I finished two of them last night for 15%.
So, does it really get any better, or should I just go live in the 7x abyss until the horror of the 70's is over?
For some stats, I've had to accumulate at least 40% of every level from level 71 through 75 in the 7x abyss. I would have had to grind for 55% of level 75 if I hadn't gotten lucky and finished KKP #2 (the mini-boss) quest for 10% of the level.
Don't ask about Trumpy Remains - I've wasted 100 T3 pots and 45 T4 pots trying to kill one Blue Clover Trumpy; there is no hope of my mage (with +6 Thunder Fairy Wand wand and a full set of T4 scrolls) soloing that, and there are no parties available to do it between 11:59PM EDT and 1:00 AM EDT. This will wait until level 79 to before I attempt it again. I do have the KKP #3 to do, but I've only gotten credit for the boss once in 6 tries, so I can spend 9 hours for 2million in KKP (10%), or I can grind out at 25% in the same time in the abyss. Oh yeah, about the PvP Quests, mages make great fighter bait; I got killed 25 times last time I tried on of those, so I won't be wasting the 90 minutes a day I have for this there again.

You said "after level 77", so I take that as starting with level 78.

Small tip for getting through pvp, stay dead for as long as you can. Make sure you get up before exp is awarded though.
Like the poster above said, 77-91 is all repeats (and again from 96-102), so it really does get easier.
One side note I would like to mention is that I persoanlly regret not stocking up on mats/scrolls from spam AoE/KQing while i still had a chance. So if you really do get stuck, spam kqs while you can. Who knows, maybe you'll get a party in kkp that will have TR quests to do too :).
edit: repeats start at 77. one is for black incubus, one for lizzard knight claws/tails (i prefer the lizzys over going to and from cp2 for 100 black incubus and avoiding ancient stonies). they both continue to 79, and for the rest of the repeats look for RikoRain's easy leveling guide (Note: not listed in his guide are some random new quests and the addition of the DT repeats on top of other repeats he does list).

I don't mind killing half an hour playing dead if I'm going to get 3% or more for it (I can get 3% in the 7x abyss for just HP stones and 30 minutes time), but so far I've gotten nothing in any PvP KQ at any level, even when I have been alive at the end (I've always been in last place and I've always been killed at least 15 times). What have I missed, or does last place just get 0 for the effort?

In order to get exp from pvp kq, your score has to remain above 5000. If you got killed that many times, it's likely that your score fell below that, which is why it's a good idea to just stay on the floor until your time runs out whenever you're killed. If you do that, you can't be killed enough times to tank your score below 5k.

I just finished the "Black Incubus" quest for Town Chief Roumenus and Nus' Monster Expo quest and I'm at 32%. I picked up a second "Black Incubus" quest from Town Chief Roumenus; it is "Lost Pieces of Dreams 1" which suggests there may be more (I'm hoping). It's worth 7%. so I might get to 40%. With a 100% EXP Boost in use, in party with a level 91 Cleric, I get about 1.5K for each of the Black Incubus (0.0078% for each), so I don't expect the kills to add much to this.
On a brighter note, this means its only 11649780 EXP to go after the new quest, or 2330 kills (at about 5K each which is what I get in the 7x abyss solo with the 100% EXP Boost) to level (a savings of 277 kills)! There's a chance that I might get this done by next maintenance if I can avoid some chores this weekend. In an earlier posting I made back in my "30's" (if my memory is correct), I suggested that one could level without quests with only 3000 kills; today, without the 100% boost, it would take closer to 7600 kills.
Other interesting statistics in case any of the GM's read any of these postings:
Since I started September 17, 2009, my memory suggests that I'm averaging about 273 / 76 days per level (3.6 days per level or about 7.2 hours of game time per level), but around level 48, the pace slowed to almost 7 days per level (about 14 hours of game time per level), so this would be "par for the course". I have had the 100% EXP boost in use since early June (about the time I started level 70), so without it I would still be at level 73 taking about 25 to 30 hours of game time per level. I also started using a "Blessing of Teva" around level 57, so it only takes 100% to level, not the average 125% it took in the "40's" to level (because everything in the Goblin Camp could "one hit" me through level 45). Don't know if the GM's can gather more exact statistics from the game database or not, but it would be interesting to see some performance plots (build stats versus time to level, % of level goal required by class, dropout rate per level and class, quests never attempted by class, quest achievement by level and class, etc).

Hmmm well theres many factors that could be impeding your grinding lack of a +10 Blue wand, lack of 75's blue +9'ed, bad skill build, bad stat build so on and so far. People said 76 was good but they probably didn't tell you its only if you saved all your quests from previous lvls. Good luck tho and please try to get prepared before 91 you will need it badly.

I don't get the reason to save quests?!
Sure they are easier when you finally do do them, but if there is a 2nd part to the quest you won't get it if you have gone past the level limit (so exp lost and what ever reward)?! I think I would rather do my quests and level up a little with them each level and grind the rest picking the monsters of my choice, usually ones that give the most exp I can find, not the amount of exp from a monster in my quest (most times 1/4 of what I really can fight). So many people say save your quests so I must be missing something!
I did save 1 quest everybody did say to save, it was the bright golden bat, NOW they have changed the amount of exp you get for it so when I do finish it I won't get what it said I would get when I first got the quest!!!!!!!!!!!
I need help understanding the reason to SAVE quests cause I don't get it!

in the case of the bright golden bat that was OS being jerks to us but understandable making everyone jump in the lvl practically as for the reason to save quests it helps make other lvs that would require more exp and less grinding time say for example lv 93 compared to 95 ,etc. and yes u would miss out on quests with multiple parts IF u dont CHECK the lvs for the quests some peole know the lvs for the quests and u can always check the fiesta wiki it has all the lvs of when a quest can be done. yes some quests can only be done at that lv other quests can be saved for 2-5 lvs or more it all depends on the quest the well prepared gamer will know which quests to save and which ones to do to know which parts to safe or to tat matter which are not worth saving :p

You know the levels 58 and 59, the ones that have no repeats?
Yeah; that's a good example for saving quests. The EXP you get from those will help you in that level because you can keep doing the repeat over and OVER again, thus giving the advantage and more EXP.

If u get mad because u only need 70% to grind on 76 then pls quit playing.
From 91-96 its the same thing + it takes longer since u need more exp, save yourself the rage and just stop playing ^^

First if you cant grind, well this is the perfect example of outspark making high lvl noob with all there too easy repeatable quest. Don't even think to go lvl 100+ making 3% an hour on 2x exp. In fact i hate all those repeatable, yes it get more player for outspark to take money from, but i've seen a drastic increase in noobs too...
If you are actually too weak there's two possibility
1. Lack of skill and comprehension of the game (how to play, wich build and empowerement to choose)
2. Lack the equipement
A mage without at least a +9?... Just settle down, work on those production skill and get a +10 blue weapon and some +9 armors. If you dont know how to make money with production skill.. well get lost this game is'nt for you
Saving quest : fiesta wiki can tell you the chain quest in advance, if quest X is a chain quest of 3 quest for lvl 79 only, then you do the 2 first and keep the third for after the repeatable,

I think it's more of a lack of motivation and not being patient...Just hang on in there. There are levels where it absolutely just sucks. I have been there and to make time go by fast...just party with friends in TR. Or go to 70 abyss and go to a good room. I did it with just a +9 and no SC items. It's quite fun.
Mix it up a little. Go to KQ one day, then do PvP KQ. You can even do nothing and work on making cash.
Good look! My motivation was the different armors, new kq, new maps, new quests, meeting new people, and just having fun.
