Im lvl 29 atm and im almost lvl 30... well nowhere near tbh and i need to know if i should stick with my Axe or start using shield and sword

i have +10 n Str and +24 (soon 25) n END

Personally I like the 2 handed sword.

Power = 2Hand
Wek Power + More defense = Sword+Shield
Strongest item type = Axe [Correct if wrong]
