Hi guys! Just want to ask if it is worth it to buy the higher levels of lightning skill. Is there a huge difference to the damage it actually does on a monster not just on description. And should I empower this skill? thanks! :D

I suggest you buy them, you can always level them down by selecting the lower level spells in your skills menu by using the arrows above the spells icon. This will let you adjust a spell to a certain level, then drop it into a hotbar. This way if you want to use the higher level and the lower level you can.

Actually i have been very curious about lighting for the longest time.
it seems like it's a dot cause it does dmg twice to the mob and has a debuff (maybe a dot timer???). but i think you have to enable lasting effect to fully utilize it but then again i might be wrong.
as for me i bought lvl1 and rarely used it past lvl 20.
havent bought any other lvl of it since.

The debuff is actually the extra dmg caused to your target, with lightning bolt. It used to be able to have an increased debuff length to cause another delayed hit of extra dmg with Empowerment, but apparently that disappeared.
I use it to help knock down tougher monsters as fast as I can, otherwise I generally avoid its usage.
Oh, and NO to empowerment for Lightning bolt. Just a flat out N.O.

another question :D does this extra dmg increase reasonably as you increase the lvl of lightning skill? because i dont want to spend money (about 10-30silvers) just to have a 30+ additional damage.

yea good point!
Also does it hit 2 times like i hear it does(mine doesn't) and also is it really REALLY worth all that money to buy the next lvl?

um yah sorry got carried away with the lighting dot thingy...so
lighting sucks dont get it.
you can spam other spells faster and for more dmg.
same goes for the next lighting skill.
of course you can always buy the skil later if you want so not buying is a good idea imo.

Today I was told by an archer not to use lightning on a boss because it removed his bleed. Is this true? If so, does his bleed really cause more damage than my lv5 lit?

Your lit shouldn't remove his bleed anymore than his poison removes it.
In the end, Lightning is just a damage skill: more than ice, less than fire. Use it to add more DPS.

No, lightning removes Bleeding on a target. Bleeding and Poison stack, lightning overwrites the Bleed for extra damage. Don't use lightning with an Archer.

well that's a little irritating then. so does bleed cumulate more damage than my 1shot lightning every 15sec?

The point is not total damage for the mage, but more that if you take away an archer's DoT skills, then you might as well take away the archer entirely. Also at higher levels the bleed and poisons will probably out damage your lightning bolt, especially if the archer empowers buff time on their poisons.

Actually, even at Level 20 for the Mage and Archer both, the Bleed of the Level 1 Bone Shot out damages Lightning Bolt over time in every aspect. This remains true in higher levels too. Lightning Bolt is still very good to have and use, say, if the Archer misses the Bleed debuff itself, or if you're partied without them. I've found myself doing much greater damage with the new Lighting Bolts than over the old ones.

...
Well that's just messed up.
Guess it's still usable solo, but if an archer is in the party, blah, don't use it.

lol.. my lightning debuff lasts for around 1 sec.. but it's good for dealing damage when you run out of other spells to throw
