Hello Solsticians,
I wanted to share with you another fun project your Solstice team is working on, involving downloads.
The Solstice client is a pretty hefty download and it can take a looooooong time, so we are TRYING to partner with the developer to let us help improve the download process and (hopefully) make it faster and more efficient. The first major step we have been able to agree on is that we will be breaking the download into "pieces". Instead of 1 mega download, you will have the option of being able to pull down 8 or so separate, smaller downloads. Smaller downloads are faster and less prone to corruption due to d/c or internet hiccups.
The second thing we are hoping they will help us do is build a scanner for your install that can detect incorrect or corrupt files and replace ONLY the ones that need replacing, so players won't have to reinstall the whole game when they have crash/error issues.
Keep in mind that these solutions are in the very early stages and it is possible we may not be able to agree on enough of the details (which would mean we just don't get to do it). That said, I wanted to keep you informed of Outspark's ongoing effort to improve your gaming experience.
