I want to use my lix on my magic staff but it says it needs a higher item lvl.
How do i get the item lvl up?

You buy another staff.
Weapons not only have a equipable level, but an item level. It sounds like you are trying to put a level 2 stone on a item level 1 weapon.
All the weapons up to around 20 level are item level 1.
Weapons over 20(orso) will be item level 2.
In the top left corner of the stone will be a little circle. In that circle will be the stones item level. 1,2,3, etc.
