Well it would be helpful if you told us what classes you like to play in these types of games, if you have played them before. Archer is not a class you can pick from the beginning.

go for rogue. IMO it's the best all around class, but then again I'm biased.;)

It was suggested to me (because I'm a total newb) to be an acolyte first so I don't have to worry about killing and can just hang with a group and heal my peeps.
Frankly, I'd rather kill things, but I'm guessing to get used to the game NOT killing would be easyer.

If you have played other MMORPGs and even better, supportive classes there, then it could be a good idea.

Otherwise support classes tend to be harder to use than the others. For a rogue or fighter, you just click on the monster and your char kills them (ok, there’re also skills to use, but overall it’s not much more to do), in the other hand, as a supporter you need to manage well your whole party, who to heal first, who needs buffs, watch your sp so it doesn’t run out when you most need it (although the pots from this game may help with that, but still), keep yourself safe by not being in the way of monsters, etc.

Cant go wrong with the fighter class, you will need hellish pots but its worth it. or do you have to be killer pro like senior players to pwn in pvp and in pvm. fighter is the pooh:rolleyes:

You're awsome, thank you! I think I'll go with fighter/rouge and shift to acolyte as a secondary character. I'm in no rush to become a bad ***. Just wanna have fun.

Yeah fighters have my love forever, just watch out for the high lvl rouges... they hurt if ur alone in pvp as well at burning hands(Predictor move)(that hurts reguardless the class) and try ur best to get ur ap 6 gears before hand and save your xen (upgrade material) and you willl surely be set, did you have a in-game name?

You're welcome. I'll be an acolyte (while I wasn’t in the CB, and so I don’t know that much about this game, I’ve played other mmorpgs and do know my way around support classes), so if you’re in need for someone to party, give me a call.

I'm not sure if you're saying you're going to switch your character from a fighter/rogue to an acolyte, because it's not possible. This isn't domo but if you want to try out Aco, you can make a new character, because once you choose a class, you can't change, unless ur an aco being able to change to a predictor, or a rogue, having an oppurtunity to become an archer.

She means she will have a fighter or rogue as her first char and once she has the hang of things she'll make an acolyte.

I think rogue\fighter is your best bet if your new, mage if you've played mmorpgs before and acol if your experienced or love party play.

What are mages like in pvp?

Depends on the level and the skills you have learned. They can ditch out some nasty damage and keep themselves alive with some mana shield or something like that, all while keeping foes at bay with some slowing spell, but still if they get up to you, you’re going down quickly.

you dont have to be experienced to play as an aco or any other first classes
Being a xenian gives you the experience on what its like training, and thats enough experience you need to take on the tier 1 classes. So you can become any class, but being xenian is your tutorial.

Only that Acolytes are practically worthless in combat until 45+ and cost alot to maintain. They are the supporting class until somewhere after level 50, since your only offensive skill, Illusion Quake, is as costy as it can get per kill. ^-^'

If you want to be an Acolyte you need to have cool, be patient and possess awareness for your team. They burn pots like no tomorrow in CB, but are always useful in parties.(Always expect jagged exp curves when it comes to Acolytes if you don't party often with your friends.)

But being a Xenian isnt anything like being an Acolyte.

As the person above me said they have by far the weakest attack out of any class, and their healing spell is only really good for partys as with illusion quake you'll be keeping the enemy away from you anyway.

Obviously anyone can pick it up and go but IMO - acolyte is the slowest to level and toughest to solo with therefore my opinion is that its better for experienced or people that love partys.

Yeah, that's why in SOS, people need Acos for training and going through labyrinths, so if you become an Aco, the only trouble you have is buying pots, since they are expensive for lower levels, but if you are in a good party with random item sharing, then you should level and gain money easier.

@ Claiomh.Solais : Thanks...*hugs*
@ Dragonman949 : Nixxy got my plan. I'll have two separate characters, fighter/rouge being the one I play with more. Right on regarding the first levels providing expirience, but I think I need more than "how to get around" time to get used to the game. There's the issue of being responsable for other's health and not wanting to let my peeps down. An experimented gamer would be a better strategist...I'd just be working on not getting killed and figuring out what's where.
@ Nixxy : For added insight, thank you as well.

really depends on your personally, if you dont like to party with other people stay away from aco and mage and go for a rouge or fighter. if you get Bord easily with hack and slash chose a aco. there really is no right answer as many will say. as for myself was 3 lvls away from predator *sigh* I was so close, but it was always a lot of fun going into the mythril mines. really glad I got to play in the CBT.
