new player with gear questions

I just hit 21 on my cleric and i was wondering what gear i should be using. I see people around my level running around with sparkly hammers and shields while im still looking like a plain jane. I dont know if it was crafted for them by a friend or quested or what. Any help is appreciated since when i whisper to them asking about their stuff I get no replies (in their defense I do play at optimal Japanese times) thanks in advance.

At the lower levels, don't worry about enhancing weapons/gears too terribly much. Here's why: You're going to level, and you'll level quickly. I remember a friend enhancing a level 30 weapon to +9 and later regretting it because she reached level 40 in about a week, at which point it was time to get a new weapon.

Some people have specific reasons to get concerned about enhancing all gears at low levels. Those a either farmers (who intend to stay at a level to farm gears), PKers (player killers), or PKKers (player killer killers). XD good fun

If you find some nice jewelry, sure, throw some elrue at it (jewelry doesn't break until you enhance it with lix or higher), but don't worry too much about enhancing until your leveling speed starts slowing down.

Now, if you find godly gears for low levels that deserve enhancing, that's another story. XD

You do not need to worry overmuch about gear at the lower levels (1 to 40 or so) because, as Tari said, you should be able to level fairly quickly regardless of what your char is wearing. By 50 or thereabouts, however, the stats on your gear can start to make a much more pronounced difference, so you will definitely want to keep an eye out for decent greens (or better still, blues).
