I wanted to get some opinions from you guys on the Cleric class, and just how much fun they truly are to play. I have recently gotten my cleric up to lvl 40 and I noticed one thing......it was EXTREMELY BORING. Being a cleric had many contributing factors to it being boring:

reasons (in decreasing order of boringness)

1. AT LVL 40 ALL I DID WAS SIT AROUND AND HEAL THE PARTY, EVERY SINGLE DAY. I went weeks without even attacking a monster. I would only sit around, heal the fighter, and do buffs.

2. I was forced to do #1 because at lvl 40, soloing is not practical at all. We simply do not do enough damage, and get into marathon battles just for a small amount of exp. I would have to train on high lvl monsters in parties so I could lvl at a reasonable speed, forcing me to do #1.

Anybody else think that the cleric class is incredibly boring? I myself have ditched my lvl 40 cleric for a fighter. Just the anticipation of me aoe'ing 60 trumpies at once at lvl 59 is making me happy. No, but seriously, me being able to actually get up to the monster, use all my cool skills on it, is just so much more fun. I feel like I have a much better purpose.

Anybody have any thoughts? Feel free to post.

Find better parties, or become a better Cleric.

The only reason you should be only healing is in an AoE group, and I don't know about you, but the non-stop pulling and kills and massive damage being taken makes it pretty fun.

If you're in a normal group, killing 1 by 1, and you're only healing, something is wrong. Even in AEW, unless you're AoE'ing, you can do more than just heal.

I think that even in a party that fights one on one a cleric is boring. Take attacking a boss mob for instance...tank attacks it...you do what? Heal the tank! Say you do go in for some damage against the mob...you do...one move. There is just bash.........yeah, amazingly fun. Don't get me wrong, I like playing a cleric, but they do get boring, and its unfortunate that they get more boring the higher you get. I like being a cleric for one thing...it's a break from having to do stuff. I get on my fighter or my mage and I have to actually pay attention for the most part. But I know that I can always get on my cleric with no fear of really having to pay attention at all. I can listen to music, watch tv etc:p Of course I do pay attention to everyones health, but I'm a good multi-tasker and it works out pretty well most of the time, and hey, even if someone does die I can always rez them:D

Well all depends realy on where you train. If you can't hit the mosters and they do a lot of damage to the tank then you do need to heal a lot or if your doing aoe you need to heal but it also depends on the person playing:) If you don't like healing then cleric might not be the best job for you to play.

a death at lvl50+ equals 5-10 minutes of grinding...try not to let them did lol xD

If you arent able to hit mobs yourself, without being in a party, then I guess you make a new Cleric, to re-build your stats, or at least gets a new party, where you are able to feel "free".

I made a Fighter coz I'm only healing like you posted above. I know that's the Cleric's job but i feel like i wanna dps sometimes and the damage is considered high. I'm remaking my mage also because i'm gonna try a new set of stats.

O.o I don't find it boring. I had to keep a close watch on my party's HP while in CP earlier because one of the fighters in our party kept grabbing more monsters than necessary. I also had to keep an eye on our lowest leveled fighter because he wasn't buffed and couldn't take as much hits as the others.

I love it when my party is surrounded and the monsters keep coming. XD It's a challenge to keep everybody healed while watching out for spawns and trains.

There are times when I'll get up there with the fighter and help them out. Usually when we're somewhere where I can take several hits in succession just fine. I keep an eye on my party's HP, of course, but after healing them I go right back to helping them out. They've never yelled at me to get back, and if the mob gets too big, I fall back and concentrate on healing them.

If you feel you have more fun and a much better purpose as a fighter, maybe you shouldn't have chosen a cleric in the first place.

I personally am starting to get a little bored on my cleric, but it's more because I have all of the same things to do and places to go... CP, GC, CP1, playing in Uruga after we die in CP1 and, well, dying in Uruga repeatedly lol.

But for being a cleric in itself, no I don't find it to be boring. I like to have 1 other cleric in my party with me, and luckily for me my husband and I play the game together and he made a cleric. It comes in handy to have back-up in case we get trained and one of us dies or whatever. If a designated healer is needed, we switch off who heals/who fights when we get bored with what we're doing. Or if the tank's hp is doing okay, we'll fight and just make sure we don't have any aggro on us so we can stop to heal as needed. It switches things up a bit.

And when I need a change, I just hop over to my archer. You're allowed to have up to 4 characters, which means you can make 1 of each. ;)

Until we get our incredible new 60-79 skills, I'm going to have to disagree with you. There are a lot of things that clerics can do, especially in a two cleric party, or a no Fighter party.

1: Clank. Clerics can hold aggro like a fiend, if you're going to be healing the tank anyway, that tank might as well be you. With a combination of your highest level heal, maybe the occassional rejuvenate, and a restore cast on you, you can not only survive a massive mob, you can hold its aggro and never lose it.

2: Lure. Screw archers. Clerics are the best lures in the game. Here's how to do it: In an area with lots of spawns, and your party in the middle of the spawn area, bring 'em an enemy. Whilst they're fighting that enemy, rush off and bring them another, healing yourself whilst you go (there should be a second cleric in the party). Continue doing this as new enemies spawn, and you'll have a constant train of monsters for your party to fight, but never more than they can handle. If you want to step up to AOE, then only the cleric can really hope to survive luring a dozen mobs over.

3: Forget the heals, it's clobberin' time! Unless you're fighting mad numbers of mad red enemies, the tank isn't going to need much healing. Unleash the pounding on the enemy's face, then pause to heal the tank a few times before getting back to the business of smitin'.

Eventually, cleric heals net so much aggro that it's pretty rare that the fighter doesn't lose one or more of the mob they're holding to go and hit you. Then you have to juggle fighting that monster, healing yourself, healing the fighter, healing the squishies.... Normal grinding is dull, but when the fecal matter hits the ventilation unit, things become pretty interesting for the skilled cleric.
For the unskilled cleric, things become pretty fatal, so meh.

Don't you say in the other thread that the lvl-60-79 skills sucked? o_O

Sorry I'm just confused...

I'm British. Suffice it to say that was sarcasm. If you read through the paragraph, you'll notice that I was saying "until we get our level 60-79 skills, I disagree that cleric is boring". That alone should clarify my position on the matter.

Here was the fun point about that: High Clerics gets no beneficial skill or upgrade proportionally to the other classes. We more or less stands still on level 59 skill-wise. >_>

Every Class is boring after some level..
Think about that.. if clerics sit and heal.. what mages and archers do?
just spam their skills.. nothin else..
only fighter need to lure the mob and then he dont even need to click some buttons.. he prees on auto attack and sit o0

Do more kq or quests .. do guild wars and u will have fun.

I think its fun going around healing ppl and resing them and buffing them and just generally being helpful, yeah theres no xp to it, no money, nothing but that good warm fuzzy you get for doing something good and that, to me, is reason enough.:)

Soloing can be efficient, if you have the right build.

I never use bash....

Generally, though, I find healing to be far more fun than grinding!
I just find my lowbie fighter to be a snore.

I usually play the healing class in these games, but I couldn't stand the cleric in this one. Honestly, being able to heal while you're being attacked makes for a very very boring experience. Until, as Kholai said, the feces hits the fan, there is less skill required in playing the cleric at its rudimentary level than the other classes.

Why in the world did you become a cleric if you find healing boring?

I LOVE being a cleric! its great but very challenging! what i mean is if your in a party with 7 other people and they are get mashed with 10 monsters its up to you to make sure they dont die! its hard to watch all those little health bars go up and down every 2 seconds!

solo grind is bad, but duo grind with fighter is omg awesome XD better than AEW AOE parties.

I love to play cleric most times im healing only the party - im most times in duo with a mage ^^ but u can chat while fighting. i think it depends where u are fighting and in which party u are
if i want to attack myself i can do solo cant i? clerics are the best in solo hehe. and by the way - i wont miss the healing :D
i also find it funny that if u are in a party everyone protects u cuz if u die most times the whole party will die haha
so if u dont like to be a cleric and u are sucked about the heals create a new character then :P
