Christmas time is near and there's extremely little chance that I won't be able to play fiesta for nearly a month simply because my family and I will be spending about two weeks in Paris and then we're moving out of the house into a new.
I'm nearly at lvl 35 and I'm considering a powerlvling service. Is it bad? Is it good? Should I do it? Should I not do it? Those are the questions that plague. The only reason why I want to do it is so I can keep up with my friends.
So, what are your takes on this?

It wouldn't be just our takes, but also the fact that it's against the rules.

I don't think that it harms anything as long as bots are not used and I don't think that it violates any rules of the game but it is very risky as you are giving someone else control over your account and inventory and they can see your security question to your password if they log into your account so they can gain access anytime at a later date.
Besides you would also blow by all of the quests so you would lose credit for those too.
And working on your production skills.
You will still be making level 1 Potions, Scrolls and Stones at level 40.
Quite frankly I don't think that is going benefit you much at higher levels.
Personally I wouldn't be willing to trust anyone but a close family member with my account.
And what is the point anyway?
To get to the level cap as fast as possible?
You miss out on most of the fun of playing the characters.
Just my opinion.

I don't want to powerlvl to the cap, just to 40. My buds are in Mid-thirty ish but they kept rubbing it in my face on how they'll be much stronger by the time I get back in. *******s.

Yeah well I have other players pass me up in levels all of the time because I play several characters, some Teva and some on Bijou.
But maybe if I only played a single character and I was very competitive it may be an issue to me but I just love playing the game so it is not.
:D
I still wouldn't recommend giving someone else access to your account because you never know what you may find when you return.
Is it worth it?

Powerlevelling services for real money = Violation of ToS, lolbanned.
Powerlevelling by in game people who will charge you 200 silver for ten levels = expensive but legal.

Yup. Because it's trading real money for in game results.

Well above and beyond the potential threat of being banned for violation of the ambitious terms of service, my point is that it is a risk that really isn't worth taking.
It may get you banned if it is discovered and you are giving some unknown entity permanent access to your account.
So I think that the general consensus is that it is a bad thing to do for many reasons.

Ok. Thanks for the heads up. Dang, I didn't know it was illegal but then again, giving someone your personal account info should've made me realize it was.

With the jokes aside.. let me tell you what to expect.
You're going to visit one of these web sites. You're going to browse over the various services and have questions. You're going to email them and give them your email address.
Suddenly you will begin to receive a lot spam in your email box with funny squiggly characters and symbols not recognized by the English system.
But the fun doesn't stop there. Any real questions will be asked to log into the website and talk to a live operator. This can be two fold: 1) you talk to a person with semi legible english skills and 2) you risk them infecting your computer.
So you continue on and decide to give this power leveling service a go. What harm could be done right? Nope. You risk losing your account FOREVER. So there goes your level 35 character and whatever others there were. There goes all your amassed money and work on skills.
Now say the above hasn't happened. What else is there to worry about? They could simply just use your account to help their own characters being built. They'll use your money, your status and your equipment in the guise of helping you level when in fact you're helping them expand their disease in SL.
Let's also factor in there are people like me out there hunting these bots on a daily basis. I'm not talking one zone or two zones, I'm talking several zones. I scour them for signs of this plague called Powerlevel/Farming bots.
I will see you, you will be caught and trust me... when I'm done with you, that account will be nothing but a memory.
You see, these Powerlevel/Farming people are stupid. They have routines and habits like any criminal does. Those routines and habits are familiar to me and I can pick them out of a crowd of people in Elderine if given the chance, let alone out in the field where the hunting takes place.
As a hunter I will give you advice: Don't do it if you want to keep your account. If you really want to be leveled up, look for a guild or make friends now and they can help you catch up when you return. There are alternatives and safer ways to catch up than by going to these sites.
By supporting these illegal sites, you are helping destroy FO in its current state of spamming and bots that plague all three servers.

Erm.
This is what I remember of the quote, I can't find it right now, but
" We[GM's] Investiagate all of these spam websites, and we have yet to find one that doesn't have a keylogger or viruses in them somewhere"
So, powerlevel = hacked - Not just your account, but if your unlucky, your identity.

Balder,
I would highly recommend that you do not use any third party websites. This is a warning, not just to you but anyone who is considering using a powerlevel service, gold farming service etc.
First of all, any use or association with any of those websites is a violation of our Terms of Service which every user who plays our games has already agreed to. Once a user is caught participating with one of these websites, their account, and all accounts found guilty in active participation will be terminated.
Second thing to keep in mind is that , even if we are unable to catch a user who has paid for these services, your account will most likely be compromised. These websites usually do not care if they help you or not and are only in the business of making money by any means possible. This means that they will take your account information, take control of your account, change your personal information (after they save it to further exploit your identity), and then sell your items that they find to further their malicious cause. Even just going to the website may open your computer up to a security risk as they might have a virus that will log your key strokes when you log into our games or any other games. Be very careful of these sites, they are not all they appear to be!
Bottom Line: Never share your account information with anyone, and please stay away from these websites for your own internet safety.

Here's what I think:
First of all, what is the point of a game if you get everything without earning it? Think about it, it's just a game anyway. It kinda defeats the purpose, you know?
Second, as already mentioned, you may lose more than your account, not only if you get caught, but cheated as well.
