Speech filter too touchy cant say SoS?

Can u guys check out? cause when you cant say words like 'bypass', or stuff with an '***' in it, or even 'SoS'. im just saying it kinda messes with your conversations. anyhow if u can check it out thatd be sweet. thanks.

Yeah, I observed that myself. I remember the first sentence I said in the game, never got to be visible to everyone around, because an un-offensive word was bleeped out. I said "I think I clicked the wrong [][][][][][] (button)" in response to being taken to the town center, thinking I was going to be taken to a training area.

As usual, since I also play Fiesta, I noted once again, even in this game, one cannot say "clam" without your sentence getting blocked.

I remember this one mud I played long ago. They put a filter on a word to replace it with another word, butt. When you went to a certain zone to fight mobs, a real horrific creature 'reared' it's ugly head. It was call...the "buttbuttin"!

But seriously, filters never work in any game. Better to ignore nonsense.

Well, I was about to make a post about this. It gets annoying. It might be better if we just try to make a list of all the words we can't say, maybe that helps.

actually it'll block out those words due to a combination of words

an simple example would be:
"A s s" The speech filter blocks it even if its connected to another word or has spaces.

i cant think of an actually sentance where the words may be blocked. what there trying to do is block the words completly by doing this have blocked many non offensive sentances.

i noticed that too. what strikes me as odd, is when a say japan, it blocks it, yet when i say Korea it doesn't. -.-' i then tried a bunch of other countries, unblocked.
Do they have something against japan??? >.< thats where the Nintendo Dual Screen was invented for God sake, they cant be that bad!

It's true. Everyone one in the game had a good laugh before the Implementor reset it, lol.

The main problem with filters is that there are very easy ways to work around it. Placing a space, another character, or a similar character would bypass the filter. They are taking the wrong approach in this matter. Honestly the best way to deal with this is to be able to mute abusers on the user end, and for GM's to be able to mute a person for a set amount of time.

I was testing out the word filter and I was shocked that they didn't filter out
the d word and hell (*gasp*)....and it turns out that "japan" is filtered out because it contains the word "jap"....

Alternatively, let the user set filter levels. People can speak/type how they wish, users who don't wish to see "that type" of language will see "?????" instead.
