He gasped and choked as he fell to his knees, his massive axe rattling to the ground beside him. Blood poured from an open wound on his right arm as well as a gash on his left side....but he was still alive. He looked around. Carnage was everywhere, bodies torn to pieces and cast about like confetti. Blades and shields shattered into a thousand pieces lay strewn about the floor, shining like gemstones in the dark light cavern. He called out to see if there were survivors, but all that greeted him was dead silence. He was the only one left, the only one left out of the hundred strong army that came to the cavern to defeat the vile Karen once and for all.
His eyes grew wide. Was she really dead? he thought. His heart began to race as he struggled back to his feet. He spun around trying to find where she had fallen. At last he found her! She lay silent on the ground not more than 5 meters away. He had to see if she was dead. He had to know for sure. He reached down and grasped his axe...but he could not lift it. His blood soaked arm was too weak. A small sword lay near the axe, its blade long since broken off. It was better than nothing. Grasping it in his left hand he began advancing on Karen, stepping around entrenched swords and axes, striding over and around dead companions. Closer and closer he got to her, his heart racing even faster.
At last he reached her. She lay motionless on the ground. Her body was like a pin cushion with arrows, swords, axes, warhammers, and maces sticking out in every direction. Her once majestic wings were mere bloody stumps. Her face fixed in an angry stare, eyes wide open in rage. But she was dead. She would trouble the land of Isya no longer. He reached out with the damaged blade and poked her in the side just to be safe. A wave of sadness flowed over him as he realized just how much was lost in order to defeat Karen. The best and bravest of Elderine, Roumen, Alberstol, and Uruga had come together. An alliance was formed. Friendships were born. In the end, everything was destroyed. Tears began to fall from his eyes. The pain of loss was too great for him to contain. He buried his face in his hands.
As he calmed down and wiped the tears from his eyes, he caught a glimpse on something metallic jutting out from under Karen's lifeless form. He reached down and pulled the item out. It was 2 items. Black hand held claws. there was a red lettering an a language he did not recognize along the side of each blade. Each claw was honed razor sharp as well as jagged, like it was meant for ripping flesh from bone. But where did these come from? Karen did not use these during battle nor did any of her minions. He grew fascinated with them and decided to try them on. Strangely they fit perfectly. He held them up in the dim light, marveling at them.
Something caught his attention out of the corner of his eye. Karen was glowing bright red. He let out a sharp gasp. No! This wasn't happening. She could not be reviving. She was dead. The alliance had fought to the bitter end. He, himself had delivered the final blow. This could not be! But it was. The red light grew brighter and brighter, he was forced to cover his eyes with his hand. Then, an explosion! He was blasted off his feet and flew backwards along with the bodies that surrounded Karen. He slammed painfully into the cavern wall, armour and body parts smashing into him.
He flailed about, desperately throwing everything off him. His eyes focused on Karen once again. She was standing, fully healed and staring right back at him. A smile spread across her face.
"Congratulations young one." She seductively spoke to him. "Congratulations on becoming the first ever mortal to wound me and for the first ever mortal to become........my champion." She let out a cackling laugh. What ware you talking about? he wanted to scream, but words failed him. He was paralyzed with fear. She lifted off the ground and glided effortlessly to him. He still could not bring himself to move, tears began flowing from his eyes as he realized that he was about to die. Karen landed right in front of him. Reaching out, she lightly but firmly grasped the back of his head and drew him closer to her. his face was now mere inches from hers. She spoke once more. "Welcome to my Family" She kissed him. He erupted with emotions and then everything went black.
-----------------------
Sunlight glared down at him, forcing his eyes to open. What was going on? Who was he? Why was he floating in the air? Looking around he noticed that he was staring down at a city. A city with a giant hand holding what looked like to be huge red glowing crystal. "Ah, you are awake finally" a voice called out. He looked to his left and noticed a beautiful winged woman smiling back at him. He knew her. "Good good" she said glancing down at the city. " It is just about time my dear for you to prove your worth"
"Yes my Mistress" he said instinctively, unsure why he spoke those words at all.
"Excellent!" She beamed. "It looks like the city below has taken a notice to our presence. They have all gathered together and brought up arms." He looked down again. Indeed the townsfolk did if fact appear to be in armour and wielding various weapons. He looked down at his hands. Black bladed claws stared back at him. He smiled. These were his friends. they had already been on countless battles, ripping apart any foe that stood in his way. and now, this city was next. It had a lot more skilled looking warriors in it than the last 2 cities, but they would all fall the same.
"It is time Lobak" Karen called out. "time for you to put an end to this silly battle."
"As you wish Mistress" He grinned again. The spell that was holding him in the air was released and he began falling towards the townsfolk. blood was about to be spilled once again...........
