There is another story I'm working on as I continue to work on Legacy, and I firgued I'd post some small bits of it here to see what the reaction is. Above is the "cover" I've been working on for it.
Below is a little bit extra to let you know what is being planned thus far.
Hexathelis
For over half a century, the once-thought-to-be-fabled guild of tricksters, Hexathelis, created by its former leader Vissam Gale, used to run weapons, supplies and information to bandits, rogues and monsters that would pay for it; while simultaneously blackmailing merchants and smiths to make items more expensive, of lower quality, or more difficult to obtain for Adventurers. Little is known about why Vissam created the guild for this purpose, but it did not retain it after his assassination. Mortis Rex, the new leader of the guild, attempted to gain more control by directly influencing the guilds that controlled the power in Isya. After a plan to destroy a resisting guild resulted in Elderine’s destruction, the guild –and Mortis’ plot- was brought into the public eye.
After the capture and imprisonment of Mortis, Hexathelis withered away. A small section was kept running, though, by Mortis’ loyal second-in-command, Ice, who sought a way to both free his superior officer and restore Hexathelis to its rightful place of dominance in Isya.
Ice (not in the cover)
A powerful mage, Ice is the second rank in Hexathelis under Mortis Rex –and the only non-trickster in the guild. He oversees the experiments run to make the guild members stronger and deadlier, as well as finding ways to “persuade” greater loyalty from people that are not necessarily there by free will
Vissam Gale (not in the cover)
The former leader of Hexathelis. Vissam was once called the deadliest being in Isya, because of the way he funneled weapons and intelligence to bandits and mobs that were willing to pay. His subordinate, Mortis Rex, felt that Vissam was not taking the guild as far as it could go and assassinated him –as well as others in the guild- to take control for himself. Despite being obviously dead –for no one could have survived the attack from Mortis- there are still some rumors of Vissam being sighted moving about the Isyan underworld.
Mortis Rex (not in the cover)
Whereas Vissam Gale was ruthless and cunning, Mortis Rex is brutal, bloodthirsty and power-hungry. Formerly the second in command of Hexathelis to Vissam Gale, Mortis Rex is a strong and brutal adversary that will use any and all means of attack to crush and kill whoever is in his way –a trait that Vissam found desirable when Mortis came into his services. Vissam found himself on the receiving end of Mortis’ schemes, though, when Mortis Rex poisoned him, stabbed him through the back, set him on fire, then pushed him off a cliff.
After Vissam’s death, Mortis took over Hexathalis and attempted to use its influence to control the main guilds in Isya to gain greater power. After running into a resistant guild, he destroyed Elderine and framed it on that guild. His scheme was found out, though, and he was pursued, fought, and eventually captured and imprisoned by Earthmover
Earthmover
A powerful fighter, Earthmover has been hailed a hero in Elderine (though more know his name than his face) for his capture of Mortis Rex, and called “The Perfect Adventurer” by many for his seemingly unending pursuit of helping people weaker than himself without seeking fame or reward for it. Despite his power, popularity and fame, there are many times where he seems sad and distant.
He wields a 1 handed sword with no shield, but carries a broken 2-handed sword across his back. No one has seen him use this sword, and no one knows why he carries it.
Hassna
Formerly a mage, he was engaged to a fighter named Zarra before the attack on Elderine. After the destruction of Elderine at the hands of Hexathelis -and the resulting disappearance of Zarra, Hassna vowed to find and eliminate the ones responsible. Officially retiring as a mage, he returned to Isya days later registered as a Trickster, wielding the dual claws famously used by the subverted guild. He has, however, retained much of his knowledge of magic, making him a deadly foe when prompted.
Zarra
A young fighter once engaged to Hassna. When Elderine was attacked she vanished and was presumed dead. She was later found to have been captured by Mortis Rex’ lieutenant, Ice, and have been used in his experiments to create “super soldiers” for the guild.
Clix (not in the cover)
A strangely-named –and stranger-acting- cleric, Clix (pronounced “cleeks”), is a devoted healer who seems to lack any type of emotion. Never upset, never angry, never afraid and straight to the point when speaking, the only one that seems to be able to stand long periods of time with him is his friend Cliv
Cliv (not in the cover)
While seemingly more appropriately named than his friend, Cliv (pronounced, “cleave”), acts just as curiously. A decent tanker, he is devoted to the protection of those in his party –especially his friend Clix
Yun Hai
A young fighter who set out in Isya to become stronger and find adventure, Yun Hai (meaning Cloud and Sea), finds more than he bargained for after he meets Earthmover and enters an academy belonging to the same guild as Hassna.
