View Full Version : Level 20 Job Change

Introduction
So, level 20 now, eh? Happy that you can do your job change quest? You think this is going to be easy? THINK AGAIN! The difficulty level is actually different depending on your class.’ being a mage, I have failed the quest three times before succeeding; but as a cleric, I succeeded on my first try without much difficulty at all; if you want to save your time and money to get through this in the first go, then read this guide. Some might have found it easy, but it was fairly difficult for me because I had no idea what I was supposed to be expecting. It would be better if you start the quest knowing what to expect.
[edit]Before You Begin
Make sure you have the following:
Lots of HP/SP stones and potions. You will need it throughout the quest (mainly for the last part - keep in mind you CANNOT rest in your mini house in the Dungeon of Shadows).
Scrolls (I have used vitality, power and defense scroll). You will need this for the last part.
Elderine/Roumen scrolls if you don’t want to walk all the time.
Oh and also, if you have a computer that likes to stuff up or lag every now and then, I suggest you to restart your game/computer/whatever just as a safety measure. I had failed my third attempt because of lag and that wasted a whole lot of my HP/SP pots and scrolls. Not sure if that would help, but it doesn’t hurt to do it anyway, right?
[edit]The Easy Part
Quest NPCsEach class will have to meet their own NPC and complete different missions before going to the Dungeon of Shadows.
Mages have to seek Enchanter Master Wishis.
Archers have to seek Scout Master Deikid.
Clerics have to seek Paladin Master Keast.
Fighters have to seek Warrior Master Marty.
Locations in Elderine
Mages
After you have spoken to Enchanter Master Wishis, she will tell you to fight 10 boars. Piece of cake. I assume you know where boars are by now (if you don’t… they can be found at the centre of Forest of Mist near Ratmen). When you’re done, return to Wishis and she’ll tell you to go see Grand Master Sean.
Archers
After you have spoken to Scout Master Deikid, he will tell you to kill 10 slimes. After you have killed them, return to him and he’ll direct you to Grand Master Sean.
Clerics
After you have spoken to Paladin Master Keast, she will tell you to hand in one SP Potion (tier 1) to her. When that’s done, you’ll be told to find Grand Master Sean.
Fighters
After you have spoken to Warrior Master Marty, he will request you to deliver a letter to Skill Master Ruby in Roumen. When you have delivered the quest item to Ruby, she tells you that Marty has drinking problems and asks you to deliver her response back to Marty. After that, Marty tells you he can’t teach you anything so he tells you to go to and seek Grand Master Sean instead.
Grand Master Sean can be found in Forest of Mist:
Location of Grand Master Sean in Forest of Mist
Note to all classes: Before you go ahead to find him, make sure you have stocked up all your HP/SP stones and potions, and your scrolls. The hard part comes next and you will save some time if you fetch your things from your bank now rather than going back and forth.
[edit]The Hard Part
Grand Master Sean will tell you to fetch him the shadow key to get into the Dungeon of Shadow. You can kill any monster in the Forest of Mist to get the key (the key is an actual drop). I’ve got mine from a Ratman, but I’m certain that you can get it from any mob. When you give him the key, he will let you into the Dungeon of shadow.

i have been a lvl 21 archer without challenging myself in the dungeon of shadows. i made easy to find the key but when i took the first try to challenge myself, i was astonished by my other self's HP.. (5k or something)... my question is, will it vary its status when i challenge myself again or will it remain the same. And another, if i tend to defeat my other self there, is there anything else or anyone else to challenge for that matter? Thank you for the guide, wish i've read this earlier..

Quick tips-
1) Have both stones and potions on quick keys. You can use both alternating between them to keep a good amount of hp.
2) Scroll up before entering, you won't have time to put them on while inside.
3) Have at least 50 potions and 20 stones before entering.
4) Level as needed, it always helps to be a bit higher of a level because your shadow won't change in anyway.
5) Mostly for fighters, but I find it extremely helpful for any class. Take off your weapon before entering then put it on once your shadow begins to form. Your shadow won't have a weapon, but you will.
That is all I can think of at the moment, good luck fighting your shadows. Nice guide by the way.

6) Another tip for fighters and cleric is that if you stand on the golem spawn place (that place with a little fire on) your clone will not attack you so you can easely distroy that golem heal yourself put on a scroll (if not done yet) and then go kill him/her/it

Wow, I think I got lucky. I forgot to restone, had a minimum on pots, didn't remove armor or weapons, forgot to use scrolls, and won on my first try. I was just zooming through because I was so nervous. I did, however, have an HP/SP buff. XD So that may have helped. Thank you cleric who did a heal-and-run!

Some questions I saw asked that had no answer...
1. Can my shadow heal itself.
- No.. but if you are an archer and you shoot it with poison, just like Smart Phino's it can resist so make sure you stock up on Pots n stones.
2. Does my other self get harder the higher I lvl.
- From what I can see your other self is usually weaker than you, it just has massive HP that you have to kill through
also another bit of advice.
to save time when you pass through the darkness following a light, you will find an marlone archer, and a marlone fighter, they will both be green to you.. But if you kill them while in the dark instead of just following the light, you'll save time
3. Should I kill the Golem first.
- I'd suggest killing the first one, and then turning all your attention on the other you, because it doesn't matter how many Golems there are that spawn (and yes more than one spawn, though one at a time) once your otherself is dead you've finished.

Thank you for the helpful guide.
However, I've tried this twice now, and everytime just as i'm about to finish the last part (shadow clone hp is around 1000), my char freezes. I can use potions and stones, but I cannot move or attack.
Is this a bug?

its impossible for me to finish the quest, not because its to hard it's just that i can't play fiesta without getting a minor lagg for 10 minutes. when i lagg in the dark room i can't advance anymore because the red stone won't light up i was 10 hits away from passing it once but i lagged and died... guess i won't be able to play this game anymore don't know what else to do:mad:

Bring two swords and two shields, enter with the scrappy ones, and equip the nice ones, once the mirror-image appears.
NOTE: You fight one until near-death, and then fight it again. In order to get both advantages, you must enter both fights with the scrap.

I'm about to do the job change/ shadow thingy and I'm scared lol, I don't wanna fail lol
but there is some great advice here thanx to everyone who posted, least now, I have some idea to what to expect.
I was petrified
I only did it last night
But by following the fiesta fan/wiki guide and the naked method, I did it without using more than half my stones and with 10 minutes to spare.
The trick is.
1. Once you get the key to give to Sean..Take off your weapon (and shield+ armor if you want I did), have them set in hotkeys, also use your scrolls now. The minute you enter simply hotkey them back on, you will see your shadow appear without your weapon + whatever else you had off before you teleported in.
2. Once you you go through and kill the shadow kebings, then the 6 skeletons, follow the blue beam and stay in the middle of it.
3. Once the blue beam goes left and is straight into the ruby room, before you enter. In the bottom right and top right corners (BEFORE the ruby room) is the shadow male/female. I killed them first.
4. Once that is done, stand in the centre of the blue beam again and remove your weapon/armor again, once you hit the end and the ruby lights up, turn around, hotkey your things back on and fight your shadow and ALWAYS kill the Golem, it's a nuisance but it does take your HP away!.
5. If you lvl to 21 or w/e, your shadow will have increased stats, A Friend tried it on his char.
Hope that helped. :)
Soul.

It's necessary if you don't want to live in your 14-18 armour. Job upgrade is required for absolutely every piece of armour and skill after level 20. So I'd say it's pretty necessary. :)

One thing i found also usefull was to get a cleric buff before you go in, aswell, any scrolls you use, apply them after you enter the dungeon of shadows,
If you have major troubles try this,
I noticed in my attempts that if you go in with no weapon your clone kills you straight away, so i found a trick,
Get a lvl 15 weapon and a lvl 1 of your class, go into the dungeon of shadows challenge with the lvl 1 weapon, then when you start to fight, switch, you now have a huge advantage and should be able to succeed.

My son did it on his archer on the furst try using the nekkid method. Easy Peasy. He didn't know the Marlons are hiding in the furst dark room.
My brother did it as a mage on the second try using the remove you weapon style after failing the nekkid method the furst time. He found the Marlow Archer in the furst dark room.
My Daughter had a lot of lag issues and couldn't get in alive using either method so I did it for her when lag was low. I found both Marlons in the furst dark room and killed them. I used the HP, Def, and Accuracy scrolls after getting in, after the shadow ran the furst time. The shadow had over 4500HPs and my daughter's Chr had about 600..
If you stay by the 'fire' in the last room your shadow will not attack you and if you already killed the Marlons you can kill all the Golems before taking on your shadow.
I have yet to take a character of my own through, i like farming from lv 1-18 or so. And just delete the old Chr after giving my goods to the rest of my family.
Some bits I've noticed:
The Mage shadow casts spells you don't have.
The Archer shadow uses attacks you don't have.
The Cleric shadow does not heal itself.
Going in buffed makes, scroll or spell, makes your shadow more powerful (my brother went in buffed the furst time and not buffed the second.)
Going in nekkid makes your shadow very weak.
Don't wait till you are low on HPs to use a pot or stone. Just a bit of lag can kill you.

With my chracter (IGN Darasuum), an archer I fpound it quite easy. The first time I went in I saw my Shadow and thoug "Oh look, another player" then I got owned in about 3 seconds xD
After that I just did random stuff, and eventually someone buffed me with one of those one that increase HP and SP by 400 or whatever. So I just went in with about 16 hp pots, 20 or so SP pots and nothing else.
I actually found it pretty easy after that (although I used up all my HP pots at the end) but if I had checked the forums more I probably would have found it easier xD
I'm glad you've done this, 'cos otherwise a lot of people would be screwed up at the moment

Yup I found this quest quite easy too, finished at lvl 20 on my first try... being a mage I was practically sweating not knowing what to expect :D but stacked up on Hp & SP pots more than 50 of each, scrolled def and vit went in to be bombarded by my shadow which had a bit over 4000HP!!! but quickly healed n retaliated, killed the monsters and followed the blue light(really cool part) to the last room where I always killed the golems FIRST to minimize damage, then kept attacking my shadow... used only abt 20 HP & Sp pots each and some stones. Btw I can clearly confirm what ThatDarnCat says, our shadow uses attacks we don't have so watchout... your health can go down really fast if your not vigilant
Brilliant job creating this guide btw CHEERS.....

I did the shadow dungon easy as a archer at lvl 20. At first i lost intill i equiped up ( max stones and even some pots) and figured a good stradagy. By the 3rd time i did it. :)
At first try to do lots of damage to you shadow ASAP so he doesnt take lots of damage off you. After killing a few shadow kebings, skeletons and skeleton archers. Follow through the dungon intill you reach the blue line in the dark part, This is the time to heal/rest up.
When the lights come back on, quickly move to a corner and kill the enemys around you ( stone goblin statue, clan fighter, so on). After finishing them off start attacking your shadow. As before, do as much damage ASAP because the enemys keep spawning.
Hope this brief talk helped you become a hawk archer, clever fighter, wiz mage or high cleric. If you need help wisper me, Garbo in Apoline.

i find that the best wat to do this mission is to only kill the first golem and the marlone shadows. afterwards, hit your shadow and run down the steps untill you cant run anymore(you will take hits so watch your hp and heal).the second golem will take a while to get to you but in that time you will take a good bit of hp from your shadow. if done right, any class can beat this quest with ease^.^ i've done it this way 3 times and once for a friend with at least 15min to spare.

does the clone get stronger as you lvl
im thnking oflvling before i finish the quest but i dont know cuz it might get stonger. someone pls tell me !
Well, I´ve leveled to lv 23 because i heard that for mages (as you are) the quest is very difficult. Maybe your clone becomes stronger, too (don´t know - at all, he´ll know strong attacks you don´t have), but the other enemies won´t. At all, I had no bigger problem to defeat them - I was just running out of HP and SP pots ;) Don´t forget to activet various buff scrolls before entering the dungeon and buy / produce VERY much HP and SP potions. And when you´re in the final dungeon room, defeat the golems and marlone clan fighters first everytime they appear - they do additional damage to you, but are easy to defeat.

I defeated them and then proceeded to follow the light where i took out the golem first and then did as much damage to myself before the second golem appeared. I whoped him out and from there on was a 1-1 with my shadow. Now a lvl 23 mage:cool: LUINIR EPITH

I found this quite easy on my lvl 20 archer......basically I just followed all the tips combined into one, although i didnt need to un equip my weapon to beat my shadow, i just scrolled up after I entered the shadow dungeon, attacked shadow, chased him fought the skeletons and keblings, then in the first dark room i kill the fighter and archer that were hiding in the corners, followed the blue light and ran to far right corner of last room killed golem then unloaded everything on my shadow and voila!

Ok,I heard alot of people talking about hotkeying your equipment and things so it'll be quicker to equip them after entering Cave of Shadows. My question is,how do you do this?I know how to in SoS.Do you mean putting your stuff in the panels on the bottom left? Or is there a way to use the F1 through F10keys? My fighter is already lvl 20 and this guide has helped a great deal.I've also printed out the one from wiki. My archer should get lvl 20 today, but i noticed even in the guide from wiki it mentioned hotkeying. If someone could explain how to do this in Fiesta,I would be eternally grateful.:)Thx:)

Rather than hotkey my stuff, I have the first 2 lines in the first inventory box reserved for my equipment on the job-change quest. Then I can quickly re-equip by right-clicking each item. Otherwise, I'd have to change my regular hotkeys or use one that requires a second key; those don't always seem to work. shift-1 sometimes is just recognized as 1.

I am fighter and I tried 10 times this qust but always "the clone" killed me X( .This quest is a waste of time !!!
Stack up stones, pots and use them in order which I mean stone -> pot -> stone -> pot (or the other way around) because stone and pot have their cool down time before you can use the next one. If you have Def Scroll and Vit, use them because the clone won't have them. From here, you should be ok if you are either a fighter or a cleric or an archer because I have all successfully passed that job change for all my noob chars.
If you are a mage, I would recommend you to go to Eldi and try to ask for the endurance buff. I dont know about the other cleric but I'm more than happy to help those mages with low HP to pass their job change because I know it is hard for them being low HP. Same thing, stack up with stones and pots.
One thing I did to success the job change is that I kept my gears on, hit my clone and do everything as the guide say until when it came to the last part where the stony, Marlone fighter and archer attacked me. I kill those 3 by kill the fighter first then the stony (note: don't run up in the middle of the room because that will make your clone attack you earlier than it should be). When I have done with the two, I now ran up to the archer, killed her and my clone ran up to me while I was killing the archer. When the archer died, I started to hit my clone, and I IGNORED the next spawn on me. IGNORE it because it would be faster and easier to concentrate on killing your clone than turn around to hit the other monsters because when your clone die, the monsters will disappear.
I did that and I finished the job change with 8mins spared for all the 4 chars with 4 different class that I have.

For Fighters just use the naked cheat.
Take off all of ur weapons/armor/ect at the last part and when he appears take out the monsters and then him he wont have any on just like u untill u put urs on then hes done.

Where Can I Find Vitality Power And Defense Scrolls?

You can might as well buy the cheap scrolls, not the expensive ones. If you were that rich you may want to buy a T2 if you are lvl 15 or above. You can also do the scroll reproduction. I'll explain further if you need help with scroll reproduction. :)

I only flunked this quest ONCE and that was when I first started the game.
Now I take it and have 10-15 mins to spare. No, I don't do the nekkid method. I come in with full battle gear, guns blazin. Heck if I give anything a chance to one up on me, even if it is "me".
A buff from a cleric is alright. It helps reserve stones and pots for the final room. But you'll wanna get scrolls for power and make every hit count.
I get 10 hp stones (7 if you're a cleric), 10 sp stones. And match it with an equal number of pots. Why? You'll need both at the end. I'll explain later. If you wanna have more, be my guest. I'm just giving the average. More is definitely better.
I suggest to keep all your attacks on the right side of the keyboard hotkeys and heals on the left so you don't get tangled up while fighting. I put my attacks on numbers 5-9, HP pots on 2, SP pots on 3. HP stones are Q and SP stones are E, so its quite easy to master.
In the first room, click on your shadow right away, while its talking, and attack (Why waste time talkin to someone who's gonna kill you?). Give it all you got, use all your power moves as much as you can. I'm telling you, you only have to heal yourself ONCE (twice if you're trigger happy with healing) before your shadow runs away.
The next room, you have two Kebings. You can kill two at the same time, but I find it more practical to do it one at a time cuz it saves on healing, especially with archer and mage who can do long range.
In the third room, you follow the shadow to the door, where it shuts and skeletons are in every corner. Again, one at a time is more practical. Heal only when you've got a fourth of your hp left (Clerics heal yourself anytime. You wont be able to use all your sp stones and pots in this quest anyway).
When you've cleared all the skels, the door opens and you go in. The fourth room has 3 kebings. Up to you how you want to kill them. But again, one at a time is more economical.
The fourth room gets dark when you enter. Follow the blue light. Once you step into it, you got one marlone fighter to your right and a marlone archer to your left. You need to kill these two to finish up this segment of the quest.
After killing the marlone fighter and archer. If you've got scrolls, now is the time to use them up. Heal up to full, both HP and SP. As much as possible have the number of HP stones match up with the number of HP pots. Why? I'll tell you later.
Follow the blue light to the last room. When the room clears, you will see a stone statue to your right in flames. Click on it and attack head on using all your most powerful moves (don't be scared... its not real... plus its really easy to defeat). You want to get this guy out of the way quickly because you want to have more time to fight your shadow before these stone giants start spawning.
When you defeat the stone giant, look back to the doorway and see your shadow. Click on your shadow right away and give it all you've got. And I mean ALL. If you've got any hidden weapons, NOW is the time to bring it. Don't mind the other golems because once you kill the shadow they'll all be gone.
While you're clicking on your attacks with one hand, make sure your attention is to your sp and hp levels. Use your other hand to fill in what ever stones or pots you need.
Now, I said to match up your HP stones and your HP pots. This is why: whenever you click on your hp stone or hp pot, you have to wait for the cool down time before you can use it again, which may be too late. Having an alternative gives you the definite advantage.
Especially when your hp is buffed, you can't fill it up with just one stone or pot. You gotta have two. The fastest way is to alternate healing between the pots and stones.
I find that in this stage, I need a maximum of two pots and two stones before the shadow falls dead and everything falls quiet.
So far only one person has followed my instructions to the letter. And he got through after just one session of coaching with fifteen minutes to spare (*sigh* I'm one proud sensei ^_^). The others just plain didn't listen. Oi. Their loss.

Ok, so you want to beat the CLONE enemy with no sweat? This especially goes to mages; for me, I beat the Shadows only in ONE try.
The trick is to get a cleric to buff you with a HIGH HP && SP. And yes you still have to stack HP/SP stones && potions.
I hope that helps a lot. And probably, using other Tiers and buffs wont hurt.

I got an advice on this one.
Before you enter the shadow dungeon, take off all your armor, rings, necklace & weapon/shield. 'Cause when you enter your clone wont have those either.
Then once you're inside put it all back on so you'll have an Attack & Defense advantage.
It helped me out big time;)

Completed first time round for all 4 classes and is not that hard to do. u don't even need to strip off armour or take ur wep off at the start but if u feel it makes a difference then fine. it's all smooth sailing right up to the last room.
at the last room go to the red glow and stand in the left corner by the glow then turn to face the right hand side for the first golem. kill it then take out the marlone fighter then the archer. dont go near ur shadow at this point till all 3 are dead.
makin sure u have ur hp topped up and if necessary ur sp go to your shadow and attack it as wud be obvious. u will have no other mobs at this stage. soon another golem spawns so now u shud turn ur attention to the golem and kill it. make sure u use hp stones and pots ALTERNATELY. pots cooldown faster than stones remember (if u have T2 hp pots then even better but again not necessary). once the second golem is dead u can go back to ur shadow. (u shud have atleast a vit and def scroll on and t1 ones are fine). soon a third golem will spawn and again kill the golem. killing the golems is best as they die quickly and stops them taking unecessary hp from u while u fight ur shadow and u shud attack them as soon as u see them. when that one is killed go back to your shadow. when ur shadows hp is low the last and final golem shud spawn that u will encounter.
u dont have to kill this golem as ur shadow's hp shud be so low that killing it wud be a waste of time and u shud kill ur shadow by this stage maybe 5-6 seconds after the golem gets to u.
this method i have told to my RLGF and the first time she encountered it she completed it by my method.
when fighting ur shadow try to keep in the rough proximity of the centre of the room. marlone fighter and archer shud not spawn again.

So, um, does a shadow mage's spells hit as hard as the char he/she is immitating? If so, i'm gonna need alot of MDefense boosts to do this one. My mage is a pure nuker and I can already do enough damage to kill myself in one shot even with armor. O.O

so the golem spawns at the end of the ruby? so should i kill it first? i looked up guides and it said i should kill golem first
yeah you should kill them first lol thy are no problem they are actually quite easy to kill BUT if you dont kill them they can kill you they do alot of dmg XD

Well,I had a different class character on each server and only 1 had to take test twice.Best thing to do is take off weapon & armor before you enter Cave of Shadows, hotkey them, then put them back on once you get inside.I restarted my characters because I didn't know about empowering skills so will be doing the lvl 20 test over again.Once on each server.:)Anyway, stock up on HP & SP stones & potions. And try to kill the fighter & archer before you get to l;ast room,so all you need to contend with is your clone and the golems. The archer & fighter are usually in the dark room.I think i found the archer in the top right hand corner after entering the dark room and the fighter was a little ways down from him.Just don't worry and have fun:)

Actually this lvl 20 job change is easy
If u have money, go buy T2 def and Vit scroll u should win it. For mage get a T2 magic def as well (to reduce damage cause by ur shadow, cos he also a mage)
This should made ur job much much easier
U are expected to spend ard 8s to 14s for the scroll
Also get a HP buff if possible (in eldy)

Quick tips-
1) Have both stones and potions on quick keys.
Nice guide by the way.

hey you guys im a pretty good player i beat all of my tests on the first try all that you need to do is have a lot of pots, stones, and SCROLLS!!!!!.you NEED scrolls to beet it on a mage. the mage clone has the level 49 magic ball skill that will OWN you if you dont have a t2 def and hp scroll on. take off all of your armor b4 you go in cuz the shadow copies you, so he/she has no armor or wepons, also dont put of scrolls untill after you are in. when you get in put back on all of your armor and scrolls. whenn it goes dark in the end you need to take off all of your armor again then put it back on at the end after your clone comes back. then run out of the room only your clone and the marlones will chase you (cuz the golem is to friegen big to fit in the hall),then kill the marlones and then your clone. then WHALA SUCCESS!!!! its realy easy if you know what to do. rep me if i helped and pm me if you want to ask me any thing about any class. i have a level 22 cleric and a level 21 archer allso but they arent on my siggy my fighter is now a level 46 and my mage is level 25 i ahvent updated my siggy. so feel free to ask me anything i will answer the bast i can.

Very nice... (even though im lv4X now)
i might comment that you should remove your equipped items before your shadow spawns (1: when you begin, and 2: when you reaach the end of the blue light) when you do this, and see your shadow, emediately re-equip.
This will cause your shadow to have no advantages(through accessories) no attacks(no weps) and no armour.

For me lvl up quest was quite was quite easy i had no problem at all..
lvl 20 cleric.. beatean without any scrolls *just healing/stoning*
lvl 20 mage.. only one that was tricky. *use t1 def, end, evasion and buy pots as well as stones. if you keep having problems buy t2 scrolls or ask for endure buff.*
lvl 20 fighter.. Really easy to beat. *slap on a hp scroll or get a buff* u should have high enough defence to not need a def scroll.*
lvl 20 archer.. when i did this i needed no scrolls at all but i was a str/end build so it was pretty easy for me. but if u arent end-related i would suggest same tactic as mages..
for every class i would recommend killing the other mobs before your clone because getting attacked by 4+ mobs and your clone would be a tough task for any character *unless decked out in all +9s xD*
and yes i have beaten it with every class. im not just guessing.
if u keep having problems with any class i would recomend as many t1 scrolls as u can get and a endure buff.. well hope this helps. these are just my views so if you think otherwise dont say that *im wrong* beacause this worked for me :D

I don't think his stats change if yours do tbh. Snd i would recommend putting your points in STR and END mainly, the damage bonus is a MUST for a fighter, also high hitpoints are needed in any good fighter.
Hope ive helped

Just go in equipping nothing, all scrolled up, and possibly buffed. Get some pots too. When you get in, don't forget to reequip your equipment. By doing this equipping thing, your shadow will have no armor, thus you having a fair advantage. Simple

Its really easy to finish the quest if when you get to the stone in the end if you go ahead and take out the stone guard the archer and the fighter then get your clone to follow you down the hall and keep attacking him and keep an eye out for the stone guards when the run down the hall just run back a little bit and they will go back in the main chamber. Doin this make it super easy.

When I first tried to defeat my Shadow, I was really nervous but my brother was with me and he'd done it like 5 times. He kept lagging which is why he had to go through it so many times. He knew it inside and out and walked me through the whole thing step by step and I haven't died once, not on my Mage, Cleric, Archer, or Fighter.
Basically, he just had me go all the way through it and then when you get to the end, he said go to the back of the room and over to the right where the little fireplace/portal thing is. It's round, not too hard to miss. Stand there until that stone monster comes out and then turn around and take out the archer and fighter but don't approach your Shadow. Then, run to the other side (left side of the room) and find the portal there. Should be in about the same place. Wait for the stone monster to appear, take it out, then head for your Shadow.
Sometimes you can take him/her out before more monsters appear, other times you get one or two more but that should be towards the end and you just ignore them.
Worked for me. :D

when i did the lvl 20 job quest on my fighter, it was fairly easy. attacking my clone the first time was tricky but you just take its health down enough and you'll stop attacking it. when you take your armor off, it reduces your clones armor lvl so when you put it on fast enough when you get in and your clone pops up, you will have the armor bonus and the clone wont.

You can't heal neither roumen nor elderine on 60 job change quest. That's exactly why it's extremely hard for clerics.Besides, you should hope that you pull mobs to you by rejunevate or spam bash and trip/bleed.

Nice guide. Honestly I didn't find the Lv. 20 job change quest that difficult. It was really easy for me and I too didn't know what to expect. As for my mage and archer, I knew that they have low def so I decided to make an END build for them so they'd last longer and give them END equips. As for confronting your shadow for the final time, I'd get rid of all other enemies first, then take on your shadow. Common sense. If new enemies show up while you beat up your shadow just stop bashing on your shadow and beat the enemies first. Well that's what I did. Using scrolls also help.

The Job change quest is not that hard as you think it is. I think its little bit hard for Mages because they a lot of CD. For me as a cleric, archer and fighter it was easy. i just got buff and had some vit scrolls and some potions. Monsters are very weak in there. I just want everybody to know that it is not that hard. Don't get scared that you will not pass it.

Well, this is a very good guide (yours I mean)! It took me 3 tries with a lvl 20 fighter to win because of lagging (my computer is slower than you think). I beat him AFTER, yes after i bought 100 hp potions, 60 sp potions and full stones. Ok here's the thing; KILL THE MONSTERS FIRST!!! Without doing this you will be mobbed with shadow golems, and shadow marlones (dont know if mages, clerics, or archers fight those). I lost becaus of this. Accuracy, power and defence scrolls are recommended. Also go to elderin and beg for a buff! Yes, beg. Tell them its for a shadow quest. After this go and fight your twin!
GOOD LUCK!!!! =D

It's simple to beat the lvl 20 job change quest.. i haven't done it with a mage yet but my cleric i just ran up to my shadow and beat em down.. didnt use any pots or sp stones.. my fighter and archer i just ran down the stairs i came in down the hall until only the shadow was behind me and beat em down.. i imagine mages would have just as easy of a time as an archer just run until only your shadow is following you so you have a 1 on 1 no matter what

Actually, the level 60 job change would be easy for clerics if they follow a simple method of tab attacking the mobs, and spamming heals like rejuvinate...I got my cleric through that job change successfully on the first go. And to those saying you need +9's for that...I was in +0 whites so...just don't rely completely on your own heals, use pots and stones to, or at least have them on hand just in case.

If you choose, you can leave the other monsters beating up on you. The risk, however, is that their damage combined with your shadow's damage will kill you. But you can just kill your shadow and the quest should end... Unless they've changed it recently.

No, it wont. It will stay at 4k~4.5k life and at lvl 19. but no use even if your lvl is higher. just that u have more def and health the battle not so much difference so i recommened to do it at lvl 21 when u have more life.

Here's what worked for me....
Stocked up on HP stones and pots, got a hulk buff (hehe) and used Shield Defense, Vitality, Aim and Magical Defense scrolls. (Char was a mage)
Stripped my armor AND weapon before entering shadow dungeon but also had my inventory bag open when I went in. Once in, wearing nothing but the noob armor, (inventory bag still open and accessible) I applied only my weapon AS THE SHADOW WAS FORMING!!! After nailing my shadow a couple times it ran off to other room.
Before going into other room I applied my armor for protection from the kebings (hallway), the skeltons (2nd room) and the marlone archer and fighter (3rd room), which I fought in the dark. After following the beam for the final room, I again removed my armor and weapon BEFORE going up the stairs and entering the final room, I followed beam to the end of the room and as soon as the lights came on, applied my armor and weapon just before the stone creature formed. After fighting the first stone creature, I then applied the scrolls one at a time BEFORE heading to the other side where my shadow was. At this point it was no holds barred, we danced the dance and I took my shadow down HARD!!! If you enter the final room in just your noob armor, your shadow will have nothing but a magic burst to use on you!! It took a few tries to get the sequence right, but the pay off was winning the quest!
If u do this right, there IS enough time to apply armor, scrolls and weapons!! Timing is the key!

The Shadow Key portion of the quest has been eliminated. When you finished the job change, did you have an empty slot or two in your inventory? You now receive an item when you succeed, so if your inventory was full, that may explain why you didn't get to finish it.

When you give him the key, he will let you into the Dungeon of shadow.
just adding a tiny bit there...take off your armour and stuff then the enemy cant hurt you as much or has the same armour thats a fact people a FACT!

My advise to any mage that will do the level 20 job change is to not be intimidated by the monsters or the shadow, just have a maximum on stones and potions
Is it true that in the beginning of the dungeon when your first knocking some HP off your shadow that it will regenerate the HP you took off in the final battle (I took out about 500 HP off my shadow and when I went to go finish her off, her HP was back to normal)

Easiest thing to do with an archer/mage is to kill the shadow marlone archer & fighter that spawn in the final room. Then start attacking your other self. Keep doing that until a stone goblin shows up. Attack him until he dies and go back to wailing on your shadow. Keep repeating this until you finish!

I got the advice to go in unarmed. so without weapon and shield. 'cause shadow-you will be unarmed too
That works, but I did it the final time I faced him. You have to do it right because I didn't do it right in the beginning and rearmed too soon, but here's what I did also... Spent $25 bucks on spark cash and got myself a mini pet and a nightmare costume bundle, then went on and became Hawk Archer Goblin_Elf!! I know, it's the cheap way out... but it got the job done!!

First, talk to Shutian in Elderine. The quest is "If You Wish to Be Stronger" and the correct answer is "Promotion." Then, accept the next quest from Shutian (which used to be called "Over the Huddles", but may be renamed). Now head to Grand Master Sean in Forest of Mists. He'll let you into the Shadow Dungeon.
To get credit for the Mara KQ quest, your party needs to have the last hit on Mara and Marlone. This is the case for all KQ quests. If your party doesn't get last hit, you will still receive the reward from the KQ, but will not have finished the quest.

They've changed the Job Changes. You need to go to Shutian (Elderine) to accept the Job Change quests now. Be sure once you've completed the first, to accept the next quest, before going to Sean in Forest of Mist. As a note, they've also removed the Shadow Key part of the quest (where you must kill mobs to obtain the Key), instead now you go directly into the Job Change after talking to Sean.
Hope this helps. ^^

Needs to be added to first post or something for the new people. Or even us older people who don't pay attention and have not done a lvl 20 promotion in ages lol.
p.s. lvl 20 on cleric, did it in under 9 mins, no HP stones, about 6 SP stones. I remember it being so much harder way back when lol.... or maybe it just seemed that way. :p

I'm totally lost in this game. First I had a hard time figuring out where I could get the job change quest.
Now I can't pass it... I don't see any shadow inside... and when I reach the Stone Statue Goblin part, nothing happens even after I kill all of the statues :/
Can you please help me? How do I get the Sign of Promotion?

im having the same problem and think it's weird that outspark makes more money then big time business in the economy today yet has more worst customer service than any company i've dealt with. Have you checked your enrolling players statistics and compared it to the statistics of people that has continued to play after all this time? Doesnt look good huh?

Guys, I totally understand that glitches happen. But taking more than 3 days to fix something THIS important makes me think you don't really care much, huh? :/
I usually never notice this kind of things in games 'cause they get fixed as soon as someone reports it, but it seems it's not Fiesta's case...

ok guys neko has adressed this issue and has filed a report. issues like this cannot be fixed in 2 seconds it takes time to figure out whats causing this. Be patient...

2 seconds or 3 days is a real significant difference, if you noticed.

More than just the time it'd take to code a solution, OutSpark cannot do the coding to fix the issue. They must report the glitch to OnsOnSoft to have them fix it. Legal issues and such.

The quest was changed a few patches back, this guide needs to be updated I believe.
Dekkid is irrelevant.
Talk to Guard Captain Shutian, take the quest with "...want to be stronger..." in the name. It will instantly complete by talking to him, and he'll offer the "Road to Promotion" quest. Take that one, which will also complete by talking to him. The next step will be him sending you to Grandmaster Sean, who will let you into the Shadow Dungeon for your promotion quest.
Oh- and part of the change was that the key you mentioned doesn't exist any more. Once Shutian sends you to Sean, Sean lets you into the dungeon without needing to find any key.

For mages, I would do the no weapon going in thing. It seems to not matter anyway because the mage shadow can magic blast... two-three times back-to-back, and you should lure him down the stairs on the last part also. It really makes it easier, if you try to kill the golems it takes longer and you could be dead from gettin' wacked on the head by them and eatin' magic blasts from your shadow. And remember to take off the staff before the light comes on in the last part! Keep your eyes on your health and you'll be Wiz Mage walkin' out. The golems hit you, but like if you go toe-to-toe without luring. And it's two golems not one, they come down the stairs and hit you one time apiece and run back upstairs. This continues until you either win... or lose.
Good Luck... because you need skill to pass! XD
