Okay so this is my first fiesta fan fic and i'd like to point a few things out before i start with the story:
1. Know your fiesta background before reading, as that will come into the story (more so later on)
2. The characters' names in the story may seem unpronouncable or strange. Each name is derived from a synonym of a word that will play an important role in that character's growth. The Guild names are also derived from synonyms of words that will be important
3. The story may get mushy and gushy eventually if i feel the need for such mushy and gushiness
4. Constructive Criticism is welcome. Feel free to point out things you feel might need to be changed.
5. May i remind you I am still in school. If it seems I take 2 or 3 weeks to publish each chapter, I'm sorry and i hope u guys can use every ounce of your patience on me but i have to put schoolwork first.
Okay.
Summary: Vim is a 15 year old elvin boy who's day has finally come to enroll in a guild academy. When he finds out he'll be training in the same academy as one of his childhood friends but is seperated from another, he isn't sure how to feel. He hasn't had much chance to show what he is capable of as a mage and sees this day as his chance to make his parents proud, begin his fight against the evil forces that once ruled Isya, and make a name for himself. On his journey he'll meet a variety of people. He'll meet true friends, dark enemies, arrogant rivals, and a few twists and turns along the way that will keep the blood rushing through the reader's body and the adrenaline pumping through this thrilling action-packed, exciting, somewhat gushy, adventure.
Now onto the part I've kept you waiting for.
A Legend is Born
Chapter One
Vim sat in his parents’ estate in anticipation of the day to come. Today was to be Vim’s most exciting day of his life. The day he is allowed to start his journey through Isya and join the forces that have fought for Teva since the beginning of time. He was finally going to be able to enroll in an Academy and learn the way of the mage. He thought it over for a while. Which guild’s academy would I be enrolled to? he wondered. His parents walked into the room grinning with pride, although below those grins Vim knew there was worry and fear of what would become of him. Vim’s father was medium height and stout. He was a dark tanned shade and had jet black hair to accompany his hazel eyes. Vim had his father’s traits but was a lot taller and thinner. He had a hearty voice and was very formal.
“Vimaro, I can’t tell you how proud I am to finally accompany you in your first step to adulthood.” said Acumen, Vim’s father. He always called Vim by his whole name.
“Vim I can’t believe it’s already time for you to enroll.” Leniti, Vim’s mother said with a tear in her eye. Leniti was pale and tall. She had long blond hair and deep blue eyes. “It seems like it was just yesterday Osten enrolled.” Her tears had worked their way out full stream now that both of her sons would be moving out and journeying across Isya.
As they departed from the estate, they came across a family they were pretty friendly with.
“Hello Acumen, Leniti, Vim. It seemed like only just yesterday we were both holding Vimaro and Chicanery in our arms didn’t it.” said a tall fair skinned man, indicating Vim and his own son, who looked just like his father.
“Yes, you’re right Amauro. It seems like only yesterday Vimaro had shown his first signs of magic in his veins. What a brilliant sense of pride that gave me.” said Acumen.
“Where are you guys thinking of enrolling Vim?” asked the petit, bubbly woman who was Amauro’s wife.
“Well, unlike Osten, Vim takes after his father so I don’t know much about where mages grow best.” said Leniti. “Osten was easy for me to choose because he was an archer like me so I chose Megacosm for him. Acumen says he would be best in Sagacity to expand his mind or something. Where were you thinking for Chic, Ferva?”
“Well Chic takes after me as a fighter so he’d probably fit best in Penthesilean.” replied Ferva. “Unfortunately Amauro is still convinced he can turn Chic into a cleric so he wants him in Credulity or Fealty. He also said it might be good for him to go into Sagacity to open his mind to his healing powers, that aren’t there.” Ferva said under her breath.
After a while they arrived in the town square of Roumen which was crowded with families getting ready to register their children to academies. As they got in line to talk with the Guild Manager, Brom, Vim heard a girl’s voice call his name and he turned to find the source of the voice.
“Hey Vim!” said a girl who was about the same height as Vim with long pink hair and blue eyes.
“Hey Amia!” Vim said in reply to the girl.
“How are you?” she asked excitedly
“I’m doing great. Really excited about today.” Vim said. “Do you know where you’re going to be enrolled?” he asked.
“Not really.” replied Amia. “My parents won’t stop arguing about whether I’m a mage or a cleric. It’s a pride thing for my dad I guess. I’ve shown all the signs of a cleric but he won’t accept it.”
“Either way clerics and mages can both go into Sagacity so maybe that’s where you should go. That’s where my dad’s enrolling me.” said Vim.
“I wish my parents would send me to Sagacity.” chimed in Chic, rather out of the blue. “My mom tells everyone I don’t have any cleric powers at all because she wants someone to follow in her footsteps. I’ve healed cuts and scrapes before though and she just refuses to believe me.” he said disappointedly.
“Well I think you should try to prove it to her.” said Vim. “Maybe then we’ll all end up in Sagacity.” Chic looked confused.
“How can I prove it to her?” Vim picked up a stone. “Like this.” He took the stone and jabbed it into his own arm so a steady stream of blood started pouring down his arm. Amia gasped and Chic jumped back. “Quick, go find your parents. This is kinda starting to hurt.” said Vim. Chic scurried off to find his parents and returned a few minutes later.
“Mom, Dad, I need to show you guys something.” Chic said.
“What is it?” asked Ferva.
“Hold out your arm Vim.” said Chic. Vim held out his arm and Ferva and Amauro both gasped.
“Don’t worry Vim. I can fix this in a cinch” said Amauro, preparing to heal Vim’s arm.
“No! Wait. This is why Chic came to get you guys.” Vim said as he looked over at Chic. Chic waved his hand over Vim’s arm and muttered something under his breath. Suddenly the gory wound vanished. Ferva was in a state of pure shock while Amauro was ecstatic.
“I KNEW MY SON WAS A CLERIC!” he shouted. “Chic. You have no idea how proud you just made me. Why didn’t you show us you could do this earlier?” he asked.
“I don’t know. I didn't want to hurt Mom's feelings I guess.” replied Chic.
Sorry for the ending of the chapter being so random and sudden. it just sorta hit me like "oh i kinda have to end it here for organizational reasons."
