I need a good build to create a good fighter. I'm new at the game and don't want to screw up...

Finding a good built is like finding a good girl friend its not easy and you should never use someones build until you try your own. I learned this the hard way I used my own build and messed it up but I am going to deal with it till lvl 66 then I get knight (better be worth it)

heres 3 to pick from
Pure POW, nice and simple, your attacks will be high but you will raely critical

2 POW / 1 AGI, The most common build, Decent POW and you will critical more often than other builds. Depending on whether the game is rebalanced for the full release the attack speed boost maybe important, however for now we spam skills so the only good thing you get from AGI is the cirtical rate.

2 POW / 1 MEN, I don't know a huge amount about this build, but from what has been gathered it looks like it may infact be better than the AGI build. It also boost critical rate, but boost skill casting time aswell, thus increasing attack speed.

If you wish to obtain Blazing you will at some point need to get 6 WIS (all builds of course)

Agi provides all the skill critical you will need. A balanced build I'd recommend to everyone...

Pow: 1 per lvl, exluding every fith level.
Agi/Sta: Upon every fith level split the points evenly between Agi/Sta, give the odd point to Agi until you hit Agi(17) then switch the odd number of points to Sta.

If you hate Agi, then 1 point per lvl into Pow and points from every fith level put into Sta.

You could even replace Agi with Men, but Men would go to Men(16) before you switch the odd point back to Sta.

On level 35 and 36, put the points into Wis until you have Wis(6). I'm pretty sure lvl 35 gives 4 points, but if it's 5 then lvl 36 goes into Pow.

I would recommend the first build above all others..
