Current Situation In Fiesta [10.31.2011]

On the evening of Sunday October 30th Outspark experienced a brief database issue that unfortunately resulted in many Outspark user accounts receiving a message that their account was banned when they tried to login to a game.

Early on Monday October 31st, some users item/character database information was compromised and changes were made to inventory and some characters. As a result of these issues, Outspark has decided to rollback the Fiesta game database 24 hours to restore lost character and items and correct banned accounts. This is the first of many steps we will be taking to remedy this situation.

Starting last night we immediately began an investigation that will continue until we are satisfied that we have identified all aspects of this incident. We will then develop and implement a plan to ensure that it does not recur. We will provide more information when we have conducted our investigation.

As we continue our investigation we want to assure our users that your account security is of the utmost importance. As far as we can tell, there has been no evidence of breach of personal user information. We are taking this issue very seriously and will be working to ensure the security of all our users' information.

We thank you for the trust you place in us; we know that you do not do so lightly, and want to assure you that we value that trust and are doing all we can to live up to it every day.

No I don't like this what the heck are we players who leveled and bought spark cash items yesterday suppose to do? Are you gonna give us our stuff back or are you gonna pretend we never even got it? I have been playing Fiesta since the DAY it came out in open beta and the old GM's ALWAYS put us first when they had to do a rollback before they gave us our stuff back and had 100% exp for a week and now all you guys are giving us is 50% for a day and not giving us our items back!? My Weapon got rolled back to +8 and i tried to re-enhance it... and guess what happen... The roll back was done to to where things were 27 hours ago, there are worse things that would have happened if this rollback didn't occur. Be happy you only lost 1 day, you'll be able to get back to where you were easily enough.

While it's true that some players got lucky on the wrong day, there's always the chance of getting lucky again another day. The point is there were worse things that could have happened. Imagine loosing weeks/months/years worth of play time/work, or having the economy turned up upside down, both of which could have happened if the rollback didn't occur. It wasn't an easy decision for Outspark but they made the right choice. Give it time and more players will recognize that fact.

1: If you have a complaint about how the rollback caused the archer armor/gold problem you have, which considering the economy is minor, then you're free to contact CSR and request they double check your account.

2: No one would be happy about loosing something they've been trying to obtain, but what you SHOULD be happy about is you didn't loose as much as you could have if Outspark didn't take action.

3: There are worse things that could have happened, this was for the best, so take a deep breath, calm down, and think about what if you were in the shoes of someone who had characters deleted.

4: It was impossible to solve these issues without a rollback in a timely manner, end of story.

What are we that had orange items and were so excited about it supposed to do now? What are those that spent literally hours on end just vending stuff supposed to do? Put in more time to resell the items? I hate a waste of energy and time. I am not gonna grip about losing levels, although I did. Doing quests and grinding levels is part of the game, But what about all the Items that dropped for me and the enchancing that I did? There are a lot of people that are not happy about this. you must do something other than a lousy 50% boost for a day. There are people that can't even log on now due to a .bin Error or something else. The game does freeze on loading a lot that should be fixed as well. I myself think that SC is a little overpriced but I will not get into that. My friend that I have been leveling side by side with is so upset that he wanting to quit. My friend and I have been at it for about a month and that my not seem like a lot but I have been buying most of his SC stuff. I have spent a lot of money on this game and realy do not want to have to quit and take my money with me. I like the community ( No-Drama Rocks!!!!) But if my friend quits then I will have to go we are a package deal so please try to do better than a 50% xp boost for a day. How about 90% enchancment success for a day or something. I am not sure how to resolve this I guess that is your job. I really do not want to leave Fiesta has become a big part of my non - life. It is up to you. And I want my 105 orange Dual Swords back!!! Thank you for providing an official statement as to what is going on. Since it was not mentioned, I must assume that you do not know how your database was compromised nor have you plugged the hole that allowed the breech in the first place. I sincerely hope this is not the case but rather you are keeping certain details to yourself. However, If this hole is still there, what is to prevent another compromise and another rollback? It would seem that until you (OS) can assure us that the security vulnerability has been found and plugged, that is would be risky to continue play. For me I lost nothing on this rollback (lol actually gained exp..BoT less grinding), but many lost much... I am sure no one wants to go through the same circumstances again especially if it is accomplished through a known yet unfixed security hole in your system.

Be happy you didn't lose weeks of time. Be happy they give you anything in return at all. You got your account back to how it was 24 hours ago. Only things lost were in game items and exp gained during that time frame. Any money spent on SC will be returned they don't steel from the customers like that. Be happy they care about the security of the game at all. Just stop all the complaining and if you don't like it move on. Trust me you wont be missed.

I've seen and played through far worse 'tortures' that is known as leveling and grinding. Despite the various leveling speeds from 1~110 it isn't horrific unless you don't play many games.

I spend my free time, I have only spent like what, $20? Is that a lot? I've known people who spend thousands on MMOs, which is an amount I'd probably never reach in total of money spent playing games up until I buy a new computer.

If nothing was fixed no one would be able to play Fiesta. Things do get fixed, we can't get everything we want but since OS didn't create and develop Fiesta I can only direct my frustration toward OOS. As for money, what else is new?

Well as everyone says first good thing they did the roll back for what ever happened. second yes we all lost stuff here like my vendor who made like 50g and the 120 golds i spent buying rare drops ..... it costed me more then just 24 hrs to get that and now is all gone. i just hope they do more then just 50% exp... wich does not return the time i spend on this.

I gifted someone over 15K worth of sc as thank you because he helped me buy some gears, and helped me out in game. Because of the rollback, I am now down 15K sc and itemless. I don't care how you guys that are trying to defend this as them making the right move, but OS just profited off my money in the most illegal way possible. And I am not the only one in the boat. I realizethat this was a safety measure, but NEVER steal your customers money. It's like going to a barter shop, giving someone your money for an item, and then they say "oh we need the item back, but we are keeping your money too." It is illegal. Weather in a digital or physical medium. Roll back the spark cash too, I know Halloween is a big earning time for the company, but tread the legal grounds carefully please.

Guys have you all considered that they are working on restoring the SC/game items that where lost? It's not an easy process to go through all the transactions that where made over the 24 hours that the rollback erased. I can understand that this will take time to resolve and this great seldom-used, it appears, virtue known as PATIENCE. I'm sure that they are probably figuring out what else they can do to attempt to satisfy players.

LightBurb. In every game that I've played and mass hacking has occured, it's always been a result of players downloading third party softwares, bots, applications , "hacks" but actually ended up downloading keyloggers.

People lost items after the incident and some never got their stuff back after the roll back it seems, not to mention even more players lost what they have worked for during that 24 hour that OS rolled back. Sounds like a poor decision made. Should of restored the items missing on each account that was compromised. They need to send a ticket just like everyone else that had issues.

I'm one of the unfortunate players who lost xp and sc from this rollback. I used my day off to gain 5 levels from 55 to 60 with 100% boost card and teva.

Tell you honestly, I feel like I was robbed from my hard work. I'm not sure If i should keep playing because I might lose that hard work again If you decide to make a random 24 hours roll back.

I'm just expressing my thoughts and feelings on behalf of fiesta players in all servers, It's all just common sense, If you put yourself on our shoes.

It's best for players to do their best to move on, rollbacks almost never happen, and are only used as a last resort(such as how it was used earlier today). There's always a way for it to have been worse, both without(guaranteed) and with the rollback. It can happen to ANY mmo for any publisher.

Don't blame Outspark for doing what was necessary, blame the players that took advantage of the situation.

On the evening of Sunday October 30th Outspark experienced a brief database issue that unfortunately resulted in many Outspark user accounts receiving a message that their account was banned when they tried to login to a game.

Early on Monday October 31st, some users item/character database information was compromised and changes were made to inventory and some characters. As a result of these issues, Outspark has decided to rollback the Fiesta game database 24 hours to restore lost character and items and correct banned accounts. This is the first of many steps we will be taking to remedy this situation.

Starting last night we immediately began an investigation that will continue until we are satisfied that we have identified all aspects of this incident. We will then develop and implement a plan to ensure that it does not recur. We will provide more information when we have conducted our investigation.

As we continue our investigation we want to assure our users that your account security is of the utmost importance. As far as we can tell, there has been no evidence of breach of personal user information. We are taking this issue very seriously and will be working to ensure the security of all our users' information.

If you want to put it that way then yes, it's understandable for players to be frusterated over this situation but there was no other way to solve the issue at hand.

Do try to focus more on having fun instead of leveling, that'll make things go a little easier.

it might not be our life , but think most of us have vacation and we all no-lifed on this game and yesterday is undone so that makes we lose a day in our real life too.

That's the spirit. So what if you wasted a couple hours on a game, just to have everything taken away from you in an instant. You could have done something for constructive and meaningful with that time, sure, but hey, at least you can start all over again and do the same exact thing all over again.

A Rollback was the only solution. What would any of you done? Restored just your items? What about the hundreds of other people, plus the banned accounts and unbanned accounts?
I'm sure it might've been possible to fix many rollback'd item losses, but it would require a month of full server downtime. If you're all so dependant on Fiesta, could you live that long without it?
It may not be pretty, but it was a quick fix and while 25-50 people are unhappy, against the few thousand others that were screwed over it's acceptable losses.

On another note, I agree that the 24 hour 50% exp boost is inadequate compensation.
The time that was lost was the weekend's time. Which means more Fiesta time and less school/work. The new 50% boost for 24 hours is completely useless for most people who have to go to work or school during this time. It should at least be a week's duration at 100% with even a small drop rate increase.

Why is my fault if they FAIL in keeping the sistem in safe???? How could that guy do it? This means OS has a fail security system so is not my fault and they have to deal with the banned accounts and all the things. And why not doing a rolback just for the ppl with banned accounts or delet caracters? If i delet my caracter now they can bring it back so do it for them as well. What ever OS fail and they delet the posts that are not in their advantage.Shame!

Lots of complaints. This is my situation. All my chars were rolled back, the sc items that were purchased and gifted are all in my premium inventory waiting for me to reuse just as os said. All I lost was the day just as os said. This roll back was unfortunate and I do feel bad for the ppl who lost their time. It would have been better to wait to give the exp boost for 7 days, cover the time that was rolled back on the same day. A lot of ppl have the same days off each week and having the boost the next day may do nothing for them and leave them bitter. Other than that this was very needed.

btw, this roll back with exp boost actually benefits me. I had to work most of the roll back day. But I still think the ppl affected should get the boost not me.

Unfortunate but things happen, I'm over it but still I'd like more than just 24 hours of 50% boost as compensation, think of this, sunday is the day off work/school for many people, me for isntance I'd need like three days to go back where I was, so how about 5 days of boost to get back what you lost and why not a bit more for that time we wasted.

If they want so badly keep their games alive and online they gonna have to update their security of their website and security of their games. Look what happen with Soltice:Reborn, there was too many problems they can't handle and decide to shut it down. Basically, they can do the same with this game anytime they want. The developper will see that happen one day like DNC did with Soltice:Reborn and shutdown the game.

OS basically wasting time/money for stupid stuff they should have fix long time ago and should fix quickly the security, surely somebody will hack again soon and this time, OS might not be lucky next time and may have no choice to shutdown the game. There has been too much security leak in 4 years they have these games and some fix has been done but too weak fix that can be easily bypassed by hackers a couples of times like this one that happen.

As for compensating players that have not lost their accounts with a 50% boost, hate to say this but, if someone was level 95+ before the rollback happen and have level up a lot, i feel their pain and i don't think these peoples would want to waste their time redoing again all the leveling they lost. In my opinion, what really happen is this rollback work only at 50%. Some hacked accounts banned got their stuff back and a lot lot stuff they have obtained or gain before that rollback happen, but at the same time, some account that got hacked are still banned and some items restored on some accounts have been changed. Something happen in the rollback that messed up everything.

So the security of ur games and ur website atm is not working proprely and gonna need to be upgraded at the max in the next couples weeks, because i don't think people will waste their time to find a another game if an another rollback happen. What happen in Solstice:Reborn is exactly the same copy/paste situation that happening in Fiesta and Luvinia(they have banned account issue as well) and no one like this atm. Im kinda dissapointed of the turns of events and im pretty sure there a lot and a hell lot of peoples that really wish this mess would have never happen if ur security programs we're upgraded way before other rollbacks happen in the past. Even if u do sales, that won't matter at all, who know if some hackers won't try to do something at the SC store and not use a method to find ID and passwords and hack again in this game or any other game u hold atm.

Short version: fix and upgrade ur security of website and games or lose ton of players that already left this game since that rollback happen. no one deserve what happen this time.

I would like to thank Lightburb and the whole OS team for what was a relatively quick reaction. Obviously, you can't always please everyone, but you can please the majority and that should be plenty. A 24 hour rollback is not a big deal, and everything that you've done once, you can do twice. Nothing in this game takes an extraordinary amount of skill. I am already back to where I was pre-rollback and am moving forward, as everyone else should. I look forward to reading about your findings from this investigation.

I would like to say that I am not quitting Fiesta. I still love this game. However, due to this incident, I am discontinuing my purchase on Sparkcash for awhile until I don't see any more auto bans, rollbacks, or other severe negativity brought to the community. I am unemployed and receive SSI from the government each month. I only get about a hundred dollars left over to use on whatever I want. I use a small portion of it on sparkcash. I was seriously thinking of paying for sparkcash on the day of the incident until I decided to wait. Thank God I did because that portion would have been useful for my electronic cigarette accessories or for my personal hygiene.

I don't know who is responsible for the database, but I can tell you this. If you are the one behind this, it's your fault for hiring the admin who made this happen. If OnsOnSoft was, then you are the victim, not us.

You have lost my trust in you and if you want it back, you have to prove it. How do you get it back? That is a mystery you will have to solve.

I was going to submit a very rude sarcastic comment in here but after reading all the pages and pages and peages and peages and pages of comments I think the point has been put across!!
Well you would think that the point got across! But obviously it didnt nice job OS I know your job is super hard sitting there laughing and joking around in front of a computer at a desk all day long watching all the money roll in from us players who spend it on SC some more then others!!
If you hadnt noticed how mad people are and all the ones that are quitting already I would have done a lot more then what you just did now with your 50% boost thing (joke)!!
I seen a lot of the orange weapons a lot of people got from the lucky house and etc not including all the t5 stones or anything else anyone got. Then you have all the sc people bought and gifted to others, Then you also have all the experience gone. Blah Blah Blah this has all been said in this forum about 300 or more times.
I am not even going to get into what I lost (dramatic amount of money and enhancements that I did gears experience my one day off from work) but everyone says if you are missing something or have a problem send in a ticket it will get resolved!
In my past experience any time i sent in a ticket about anything it was never fixed!! I always was told ask people in game what they would do or try something else or anything (with none of it helping me) then get told we are sorry but we can not help you!!
So I have always just sat back and when something screwed up on my acct I just left it and got used to it because there is no point in wasting your time obviously!
I really feel sorry for all your GM,s that have to deal with all the angry players I know its not there fault or there call on whats to be done about anything they are just the slaves and u are the one with the whip!
Maybe you should spend a little less time spending the thousands of dollars a day you get for free from all these players and either go in and play the game and find out for yourself all the issues! Or just post a thread that you are ACTUALLY GOING TO READ AND LISTEN TO!
