Many people have PM'd me asking me to make them sigs. I get asked many times a week... while I'd love to make everyone sigs, I don't have the pictures, time, or attention span to do it. So... I'm going to teach you have to do it!
I will teach you how to make a basic signature. Exploring and getting creative is up to you!
Image links will be provided for visual examples!
Requirements:
-images
-photoshop
Step 1: Take a screenshot!
Press Prt Scrn
Find it in the Fiesta folder located in your My Documents folder. If not, go ahead and open Photoshop after pressing prt scrn.
Step 2.1: Photoshop document(for a screenshot already in the screenshot folder)
Go to File > Open > My Documents > Fiesta > Screenshot file.
Press OK.
Step 2.2: Photoshop document (for pasting a screenshot that did not save in the Fiesta folder)
***Remember you have to have recently pressed Prt Scrn before opening photoshop***
[LIST]
Go to File > New
Press OK
Go to Edit > Paste
Step 3: Second document(for the actual sig)
Follow the steps for Step 2.2 but read on before doing so. There are afew differences!
Go to the Width and Height and type in the size of the document you want. I recommend 500 for both width and height. Make sure they are set as pixel, not percent, or inches, etc.
Go to Background Contents and choose Transparent.
Press OK.
Step 4: Resize your screenie?
Sometimes in your screenie, your character will be too large for a signature, or too large for your signature document.
Hold down Ctrl and press + or - to see what your screenshot will look like if it were resized. I suggest 50 or 25%. At the top of the window, next to the document name, it will say what % it is currently at.
Once you've decided what % you want to change your screenshot to, go to Image > Image Size > Press the little drop down menu and choose percent > Type in the number percent, for instance 50 > Press OK.
The image will resize and zoom out to the percent you typed in, if you want to see what its actual size is, press Ctrl and + until it is at 100%.
Step 5: Selecting your character
There are many ways to do this, I find the cleanest way to do it is using Polygonal lasso. But there is also other lasso tools and magic wand. I will teach you with Polygonal lasso.
Press on the lasso tool on the toolbar, right click and choose polygonal tool.
Start pressing and tracing around your character until you run into your starting point, then press on the starting point, your character should be selected now.
I suggest zooming in before doing so.. it can help make things more precise!
Go to Edit > Copy.
Step 6.1: The work begins!
Open your 2nd document. Go to Windows > Down to Layers > Press on Layers. (a little window will open).
Go to the layer window and press the Sticky post paper icon and another layer will appear on the list, called Layer 1, or 2. Press on the new layer on the list, then go to Edit > Paste. Your character is now in the new document.
Step 6.2: A little clean up
Some characters will require cleaning. My character has pigtails, so when I paste her into a document, you can still see the background from the original picture in between her pigtails and her head.
Choose the polygonal lasso again
Select the area you want to get rid of.
Go to Edit > Cut.
You can also use the eraser tool.
Step 7: text box(very basic, you can try to get creative later)
Press the sticky post paper icon in the layer window again, and select the new layer.
Go to the toolbar and press the rectangular marquee tool.
hold down the left button on your mouse on your document and drag til you have the size you desire.
Will finish later!
