Noob question

i just started playing this game(mage) and saw that it had lvl 1 fire bolt and was able to get a lvl 2 fire bolt.But I empowered the lvl 1 one with increased attack power,will it be lost if i upgrade the spell?

No the upgrades stay throughout the various upgrades and tiers.
