Soloing as a Neo

Has anyone else find soloing as a Neophyte becomes really really difficult when there isn't a party or even an Acolyte? I tried to solo on monsters same level or slightly below me and even that didn't go too well. The Neophyte armor just won't hold against high damage and that's even coming from a gray-named monster, let alone 0.05% per kill >.< I feel like I'm now almost totally party-dependant. I can see why so many Neophytes have given up and ended up a Scout after all.

Edit: but hey I also use alot of pots/salt/butter whiel doing so so inno maby your just being cheap with healing items? Or to poor to aford it.

so far I can only solo white monsters in mystra hill (just need to have food items with me though XP)...

There are some gray/light blue monsters far east of Essene. I also tried white monsters in Salem Valley and Alicia forest. Either way it's not going too great. About 2~3% every 10~15 minutes with a repot fee of 13k >.<
When I party, however, I feel like having a blast compare to soloing, although it's still not really fast. =/

im going scout for that same reason, it gets to a point where soloing becomes pointless, some 4 more lvls and ill go scout maybe that way ill have more fun, but i cant say it has been fun all the work i've been doing to get from 34-41.

i guess since this is beta, i still have a little hope that the GMs might help the exp thingie, maybe a soloing bonus.

but i just dont know anymore. this is the exact reason i quit FF11. at least here i got over lvl 20.

partying and going realy far into maps is hell of fun since after several maps all the monsters beome agro >:)

You sure you noticed his level? I doubt you get 0.5 per kill at level 50+... Solo up to 40-45 is a breeze. That is when you hit the wall.

Im lvl 48 not that far away from 50, and Im getting .50-40 a kill from the helicopter things near berltforrest.

I have seen Scouts in battle and they do massive damage and they have helpful skills. The game would certainly be fun as a Scout.

But i dunno i guess determination is a part of who i am, im going for Rogue and no im not changing my mind. I'm not in a hurry to change classes so i will lvl up at my own pace. I love a challenge and this is a hard one.

All i know is that im sure as hell going for Assassin!

If only i was able to see what Assassin and Shadow Lord will look like, that would give me even more determination :)

But the point is... are you killing fast enough to call it good exp? I can also go kill things that are worth 0.3% each. However in the long run it's not really faster exp and it costs more money to do so. ><

Actualy I am killing fast anuff I get 7-8 kills in 15 mins. which is about 4-5% every 15 mins. I you don't think thats fast then tuff cookies :). Also im spending alot of korn into healing items (not the stupid *** cheap npc hp pots though, I buy salt,butter,etc anything that heals more then 70 hp in bulk)
So if your leveling slow your not trying hard anuff.

Well, you're about 10 levels lower. When I was your level I felt I was getting really fast exp solo, but suddenly around Lv53 it became very troublesome at times. I think you'll know what I mean soon.

same here,ive seen a video of a assassin on xenepic and they own,they have a skill that does 4 hits that deals over 2k damage and they dual wield but with things like that 3rd classes are gonna be at least in the 100s

Xenepic is very different from SOS ^^ almost two totally different games with same graphics. A Lv 10 Xenian can do over 1000 damage with some buffs and having 6500 weight ><

Fastest way to level is to find a map where you don't have to rest often. That's usually a map with WHITE monster names. Get into a party of two and you will level ALOT faster, not to mention it will be more easy. Save higher level maps to get your next EQ and for drop farming.

i hav the same exact feeling that you have,becoming a rogue will b worth it and going for assasin will b even more self pride^_^

i finally decided which one im going for

to become a full archer is lvl80 and its EXTREMELY expensive but if i become a rogue (lvl66) its not as expensive and by then i can simply go to eir for the skills and items i need

so i recommend rogue its worth the time

soloing isn't a problem.
I can kill red and pink monsters without having to use any food or potions, but then i have to rest afterwards

I find killing many .1x%'s very quickly and safely is more effective than trying to grind .4x%'s in which you could easily be killed and lose your hard work.

I've been soloing the same monsters since lvl 30, works for me.

I think neos n squires will b stronger once they reached 2nd job but for now....its just a test of patience(These jobs are usually harder 2 level at the begining)

once neo's get there dual wield (at assasin) i think they'll be pretty powerful, the attack speed in the xenepic video's is incredible

Just to put in my two cents...

I timed myself this weekend while on (shaky) highspeed wireless: I got about 0.11-0.13% per monster killed on the Belteranin Forest map while I was level 47. It took 20 minutes to get 6% solo'ing w/ resting to regain MP/HP here and there (I dislike using pots, but I will use them if I need to get out of a Life-or-Death situation).

When I partied for a bit with a level 46 Templar, the exp was SO much faster, though I'm afraid I forgot to time myself at that point. ^^;

Seems to me like partying is the way to go once you're level 45+; however, you should find a party that fits you. I know that I hate using pots, so I'm not about to join a party that's constantly on the move and going to yell at me if I sit down and rest. [Mainly why I'm still solo'ing at the moment. ^^;]

So... yeah. Your choice between spending time finding a party and money on pots, or taking your time and saving Kron while solo'ing, although at a lower exp rate.

I have to agree. I ran into a really nice guy (neophyte as well), and we ended up partying with each other. We were running around in Mystra Hill, and the EXP was amazing! I admit that I had to burn pots like none other, but the loot made up for it. I highly recommend that you party with someone of the same class :9

HEY DUDE I"M STARTIN TER LYK YOU!!! Coz you're pretty much like me!
I oso like your NEO"S lvl coz its also the same as mine! HAHAHA!!! I previously tot of becoming a scout too but i saw that i would reach 4th class earlier than if i were to be a rogue. That's if its proportionate. I'm also not used to the long-ranged system for SOS, so its rogue all the way! LOLz keep imagining me playing till my hair grows white, then my children would take over my account to complete my dream! HAHAHAz! =]
