Are there professions (production skills) that are beneficial to particular classes moreso than others?

For example:

Which productions skills would be ideal for mages?

etc, etc.

(I'm a mage and I'm not too keen on making alts just for skilling. :P If I were to be a high level mage, what 2 skills would I want in the end?)

Would it be wise to go for the money making skills? Or would it be better if I become self sufficient, preparing my own scrolls, potions and such?

For a mage, scrolls, and potions should be good. I'm an archer and you do have to spend a good amount to make tier 1 potions and especially scrolls. But in the end it is cheaper and if you have a good stock up you can sell them for a bit of cash on the side or help out friends or party members if they need them.

Edit: Certain production skills do hep certain classes. As an archer I find potion making very helpful. Especially if I don't want to buy potions from others or buy stones which cost 50c+.

All classes normal pick up scroll making because it is easy for them to do and something that helps them kill high level monsters.

It really doesn't matter what class you are only two production skills really only help you if you want to be self-reliant, but the others are to build up a good cash base. Though I do not understand composition at the moment because it loses more money then anything. Decomposition is especially helpful because you make tons, so many go for this though the alchemy stones can be a killer sometimes.

Majority of the people go for scrolls and stones because that is where a big amount of the money goes too.

Also forgot to mention that, make sure when you choose your skills choose them wisely because you can't change them.

well if you are interested in making some serious cash, stone production is the production for you, t2 stones is about the quickest cash you can make......but as a mage you will use alot of sp....meaning alot of pots and stones so....you can either make um or buy um....and everyone needs scrolls, so again you can buy um or make um, but be wary on what you choose cause it is permenant  but don't be to scared, you can always make a noob character to make things that your main can't....
