There has been a few threads on EXP gain for higher levels. I did a short test of my own. This is what I came up with after one test.

Secret of Solstice EXP test:

Class: Mage
Level: 43
Length: 10 Minutes

My Stats:
Pow - 6
Int - 42
Agi - 1
Men - 2
Sta - 3
Wis - 8

My Gear:
Helmet of Brach +1
Armor of Stem AP +4
Shoes of Branch +2
Gloves of Brach +1
Wisdom Staff +1
Puppet Nose
Soft Sheep Helmet for resting

Placed Trained: Urail Valley
EXP at start: 43.43%
Money Spent on Pots: 12,500
EXP gain from monsters: +.20

EXP at end: 49.45%
EXP gained: 6.1%
Money Earned: 8,142
Money +/-: -4,358

Using these stats this is where I would be after one hour:

EXP gain: 36.6%
Money Spent: 75,000
Money Earned: 48,852
Money +/-: -26,148

The EXP gain was good but the money I lost on pots was pretty substantial. The money I gain is never the same so for this to be more acurate I would have to do many test to get a average. Also I never sell any +1/AP/level 2 skill books/fruit/quest items to any NPC. So after selling some of the Armor and skill books my money earned would be a lot more. If I didn't use any pots I could only kill 2 monsters before having to rest and could only take on one at a time. Hope this test is informative and helps some people.

I do agree with the threads stating that the EXP penalty for dying is to big and needs to change.

how about this formula:

[100/(exp per monster)]*(mp used) = total mp used to lvl once

for mages, mp used is a good approximation for how much time it takes to kill one monster. Its also easier to calculate than #of hits or #of seconds. So the monsters with the lowest total mp are also the most time efficient.

you are a mage

exp gain is much slower for squires

yea, we need to melee all, and the monsters make insane damages to us (talking as a squire lv 56)
don't come to tell me to put STA instead of POW, try to think a thing: you have more hp but you do less damage....you need more time to kill a monster so he atks you more...and we are at the same point of the begin

What? I didn't see anyone talking about where to put stats in this thread.

Hmmm... that could be a useful equation. Have you tried to figure out any of the MP usage on monsters?

I did on some monsters when I was in the 4x range. I think it works fairly well.

Dunno, I think it's fine the way it is.
Buy Levelling pack if you die a lot. You normally shouldn't be dieing. ;)

I am gonna have to mess around with it a little bit.

the best way, set your stop watch to 10min. write down your exp, grind your hadrest, in party, solo, with pots, sitting or whatever, then check how much exp you have after 10min. then go to the next zone, change stratergy etc, and do another 10min.

the area with the most in 10min is the winner.

P.S. if you say "i got X% exp in an hour" it doesn't mean anything if you don't state your level. getting exp is totally different at 20, 40, or 60.

pretty much what I did. Just don't make the mistake of going to far and facing tough monster that can kill you in only a few hits.

It looks like you had a really good pay off at that location. Hopefully that helps some melee type classes at your level.

Take 2! Leveling is getting kinda sloww ):

Class: Neophyte
Level: 37
Length: 30 minutes (1 rapid step)

Stats:
Pow 7
Agi 35+3
Men 5
Sta 4

Gear:
Helmet of Ray +1
Armor of Ray
Gloves of Ray
Shield of Speed +1
Shoes of Acceleration +1
Rogue's Anklet x3
Puppet Nose
Bamboo Dagger AP+2
(random gear, I know @_@ was trying to hit bonuses)

Plase Trained: Luan Basin
EXP at start: 22.94%
Money spent on Pots: 10,700 (65 hp/40 mp/20 t. plant)
EXP gain from monsters: +0.30~0.35

EXP at end: +45.59%
EXP gained: +22.65%
Money Gained: 18,069
Money Total: +7,369

Using these stats this is where I would be after one hour:

EXP gain: 45.3%
Money Spent: 21,400
Money Earned: 36138
Money +/-: +14,738

Etc
- Kron drops are nice, but I had to sit a lot >_<
- I used invisible quite often too. Oh, and for you Blindside lovers, this area is great - it takes a bit for the monsters to die, so by the time the cooldown is over, you'll already be on your next target :D I also had a lot of fun playing with Threaten2
- Bring.. whatever clears up poison. It's rather annoying.
- You'll want to bring fruits/salt/butter, since some attacks do hurt and you won't be spamming pots quickly enough. About 15 should be fine.
- I don't know about quite a few of you, but I like putting myself OW so I get a higher attack speed... helps sometimes.

We just have to figure out the best place to get exp per hour ;_; I think after you hit 45, it'll all be about parties.

(random gear, I know @_@ was trying to hit bonuses)

Plase Trained: Engrave Path
EXP at start: 56.30%
Money spent on Pots: 10,000 (50 hp/50 mp)
EXP gain from monsters: +0.25~0.30

EXP at end: +80.71%
EXP gained: +24.41%
Money Gained: 35,898

Using these stats this is where I would be after one hour:

EXP gain: 48.82%

Overall, I found this better to be Mystra Hill (surprisingly). Still trying to figure out the best place to level though ~__~
