View Full Version : Xenclient.exe has encountered a problem

ok so i decided to try the game cause its pretty much like ro but less classes..lastnight i got on fine.. got an acolyte blah blah.. but now it re-installed the patches and loaded up.. just like the 1st time.. and it gets to the server select page .. i click "check" and a message comes up saying Xenclient.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.. any ideas ???

I encountered that problem too. I was able to get in the game by reinstalling the setup file. I think something might have gone wrong during the patch process.

Have any of you checked if turning your firewall off helped? After an update the state that the program is in changes, and many firewalls will notice this change and give you a popup asking if you would like to allow the program to connect. You may have clicked something like this, or maybe you never even saw it, but if you turn off your firewall it would give you the answer as to whether it is a firewall problem or not. If it is not, then I am not sure how to help further, but I can point you to this thread: http://www.outspark.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37609
I made it for troubleshooting, but it has some information on how to contact the support staff with technical problems (this info is found in section 4). If there are any more problems post here and I will try and help as much as I can.

I got some informatio....the problem is about the game and the computer
i mean not the dowload path,and intaling is about the logg in isue...
it say kernell error but mi farewall is down and i contact to windows helper and said it cant be fixed...so i gess the admins they have to give maintans to the game for ppl like us...

i played in this computer a month, and log in fine..but wen they make an up resently updae about the store..i cant get in now.

( hope this help to mods and gm to fix problem)

i just did it like this opening the outspark_solstice.1.0.3 the extracting the file again and i was able 2 log in

guy...u saved mi life...it worked up again :) whit this i just wana say..please outspark chek is its a bug or some thing u can fix for no problems in future whit upgrades. :)

Are you saying that the manual patch needs to be extracted twice? I am unsure what your saying really, I would like to know so I can suggest it to others who are having the problem.

then after one month of what must have been vacation time, they deliver us a malfunctioning client that cant even start, i saw many closed beta players leave.
interestingly enough i decided to see, if the game was actually working now, and tada, same crap again...

this is some horrible programing, and as far as my humble observations have gone, just for starters, i believe there is something really buggy in the installers, and from there on u go.

people will still get this error and still leave if u guys dont fix it...

No offense, but the game is free, and as such you really have no reason to go ranting on the forums about how much you think it sucks. You are entitled to your opinion, but I would appreciate it if you would criticize in a constructive way so that we can help to get problems like this solved for everyone. If you have not tried to help fix the problem, then there is really no grounds for you to complain.

I hope you reconsider the situation and try to lend a hand, we would all really appreciate it. Also, keep in mind that the game is in Beta, and has yet to be fully released. There are going to be bugs and problems, but hopefully if we help out, we can see this game grow into something bigger and better that all of us can enjoy.

Also I would like to explain something that many people don't understand very well. Outspark licenses this game from its developers and creators in japan. They work hard to provide us with the new content that is provided to them by the developers, and give us events and interaction with GMs and CSRs so we will have an enjoyable community. But one thing they can not do is speed up the process of developing the game and fixing the problems...that is where we come in, in that we can provide them with as much information as possible that they can send to the developers, who then will try to fix it, and send back to Outspark a patch that helps to solve these issues.

So without our help and support, it will only be even longer before problems like these will be fixed. I hope that helps you understand the importance of maintaining a positive attitude and contributing to the community, and that in the future we can count on you and other players to help out when you have a problem, even if all you can do is send in some information about the problem and wait. I know how hard it is to wait for a solution, and how frustrating it can be. But in the long run if we all stick to our guns we have the chance to make something even better, something we can all enjoy for a long time.

I got same problem here "Xenclient.exe" encountered a problem..
this is all happened when new patch came out, then sos started crashing
I tried to uninstall then install the game but same thing happened again
don't know why but i think it's something about the patch tonight.
I've been playing SOS since 2nd CB and never encountered a problem with the game just tonight after the patch. Hope i can play the game normally soon

Uninstall then install the game for the 3rd time, guess what??????



It's working now, and still no idea why tonight's patch cause my game client crashing but anywayzzz i am thankful that everything works fine now.

OK, so basically the only solution we have now is to reinstall the game about 10 thousand times. *sigh* Well it only took the better part of two pages, but now we have a possible solution (unless you could desipher that unintelligible mess from earlier). Of course we don't recieve this answer from a GM or any other staff, it's from a user. I haven't even gotten to play this game yet and it already seems like it's gonna be a fun time. *rolleyes* I mean hell, even if none of the staff has an answer yet they could at least let us know they're working on it.

Frankly I hope they lose a ton of players because of bugs just like this, maybe that'll be inspiration to get thier asses in gear.

I know how frustrating it is, but the game is free, and no one is twisting your arm to try and play it. The reason for no replies by the staff is that they are busy doing work. It takes time for fixes and updates since the staff, as I mentioned above, are not the ones who fix the problem, the developers do that kind of work, and the Outspark staff are the only contact they have helping them try to fix the game. So the more we help the staff, the more time they have to deal with the developers.

As a community we all need to identify problems, and send in as much information to the Outspark staff as we can in the form of troubles tickets sent to the support staff. The more information they have the faster we will be able to get problems fixed. So far allot of players are posting in the forums, and not telling the staff about the problems.

If you read the stickies, every troubleshooting board has a thread that will tell you how to properly contact the support staff, and these are the people you need to contact to work on your problem. The troubleshooting forum is just a place for us players to try and help each other out and work towards fixing problems for others.

I think he means that you need to download the installer (outspark_solstice.1.0.3), install the game, then use the manual patch, then try installing the game again? Or maybe he means you have to extract/install the game twice? I am not sure as I have been unable to replicate the problem on my computer.

I get the same problem also.

except it is right after i log in the update window comes up then once the patch realizes that it is up-to-date a black screen comes up and processes so far

and then i get the general xenclient.exe has encounter a promble

blah blah blah etc. Send Error Report or Dont Send =/

any ideas?

It is beyond me how people who own a computer can expect every program to work with every different piece of hardware available in the world without a single issue. It has nothing to do with programming in most cases. Just try and comprehend the number of driver versions for a single video card that a program needs to resolve and then factor that in for the number of video cards by one manufacturer.

What can happen is when you down load a patch something gets lost in the download. In effect you are transferring data from a number of sources and having that data put together properly on your system. Try and think of it like the transporter in Star Trek. Millions of bits of info torn apart and reconfigured in the right order.

Things can and do go wrong. The best thing you can do is to try and limit the potential damage. Install the game to the default location, and if you encounter an issue make sure you check your end before you take the next step.

PC games and the players of them are expected to be a bit more intelligent than a console player. You buy an XBOX and you should expect every game to work every time. If this is what you want out of a game then cool there is a market for you. Outspark is a PC game company, they work hard to make the games work on every possible platform, just like every other production company and developer.

The best thing we can do as a community is to provide more information than simply......

"Help it's broke!" and then giving no details is just silly.

Uninstall, reinstall, patch and you should be ok. If you not check your firewall, check your drivers and make sure it is really a problem with the game and not your computer. Then try and post something intelligent and coherent so it can be fixed.

I have done everything i could to play this game unfortunately unless outspark fix this i wont even bother installing it again
Im very pissed off i had this game installed at morning and right now is 3:00 am ( I live in brazil),
MEANING = I HAVE LOST MY ENTIRE F*** DAY JUST TO GET THIS GAME PAST THE F**** XENCLIENT ERROR, IM VERY SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS, VERY SORRY ABOUT THE F WORDS, BUT IM AFRAID IM VERY FRUSTRATED WITH OUTSPARK ABOUT THIS, I MEAN HELLO!!!!! WAKE UP, IF YOU DONT FIX THESE XENCLIENT ERROR AND OPENGL ERROR THINGY PEOPLE WONT PLAY, SO IN OTHER WORDS YOU GUYS LOSE A TREMENDOUS DEAL OF PEOPLE AND CONSEQUENTLY MONEY AS THEY COULD BE POTENCIAL BUYERS FROM THE SHOP.
I have uninstalled and installed this game a tremendous ammount of times, i do have noticed that when hes installing some things do not show as 100% as in if the installer just skipped those ( which by the way i think it could be the problem) but even so i got the installer from the site of the game so if it really is bugged is up to you ^^.
Anyway when i install and go to patch it already do the openGL problem, but if i click in yes he goes to the patch and patch it without any problems, then it gives me the Xenclient error and when i try to enter game it gives me the OpenGl thingy and Xenclient all over again ( now you understand why im so angry?), because i have done the impossible i have the Ati radeon 9600 pro, have installed the Omega Drivers ( Which is waaaaay more good then ati catalyst is), never had any problem with the omega driver and it does have an OpenGL options with it on the control center, so it cannot be because of the driver ( latest version 1/1/08).
So if its not from the driver or my pc because i have enough to play 5 windows of this game without even lagging.
Means the problem is with your installer and patcher, so plz i will ask this before i completely lose hope and delete this game and tell other to stay away of the bugged game, if you dont really wanna lose people because of this really huge BUG.
PLZ DO SOMETHING!!!

lol....i played S.O.S for the past few days ago....and when the new patch for the "new pets and NPC etc" thing came out....yea i downloaded the patch and stuff....all good but after that...it showed the XenClient has encountered a problem thing....*sigh*

P.S. bearbugs010 :- wot was the processes in which u solved ure problem?...ok i understand the part where u said re-extract the Solstice 1.0.3 but...dont u have to re-download the patch again???...i mean it took me 6hrs to just get the patch finished and im pretty tired cause of this....at this point i havent started downloading the patch yet...bcoz i spent my day without S.O.S plus with a failure upon me....

well all im saying is when u extracted the 1.0.3...u have to download the patch again and it would work?....soo it has to be done twice to get things goin?

P.S. has anyone done this process and still have troubles still...???

First off, Omega drivers are not supported by ATI at all. Second, unsupported drivers are not supported by this game. Omega drivers have disclaimers for this very reason, and are not guaranteed to work with 100% of all hardware and software configurations. While Omega drivers are great at making games run with faster frames per second, the reason is that they give up stability and compatibility to do so. I am not saying your drivers are the problem, but you should at least try the proper supported drivers first.

That said, you could try to use system restore to revert to a state before you installed the game and try a clean install. I know your mad and think that Outspark needs to fix something, but the fact of the matter is that it is most likely your system configuration or device driver incompatibility that is to blame for the problem, since the game is working fine for a great number of people. Try to troubleshoot the problem by running your computer in a clean boot, go to the run command found by opening your start menu, and then run msconfig. Use the diagnostic startup process, which will disable all but the basic system resources from starting, and see if that helps.

Well i have uninstalled my omega drivers and installed ati (display driver), not the ati catalyst center, have installed the game again and guess what? now it runs smoothly ^^.

Which diagnostic are you referring to? And what two things is it asking you? Also, if you are attempting a system restore, please realize that anything you have done on your computer from the date you choose to restore to and now will be removed. So do not restore unless you can stand to lose any information you have not backed up, and back up any info you need to keep safe. That said, if you still wish to attempt a restore, chose a date that is before the date you installed the game.

Ya i'm gettin the client error too, but in a different way... u see i can log in and play, but when i enter a shop or building or even teleport to another city BANG! i get the client error! and when i restart i am in the shop or town but can't move unless i use a scroll! this happened after the recent patch btw! looking forward to anyones help!!

You all got a short cut to the deskop right? move that shortcut to C:Programfiles/Outspark/Solstice or where you placed the folder;)

what card do you own? You need to select the OS you use, then select the type of card you have, then select the specific model number.

Ya i'm gettin the client error too, but in a different way... u see i can log in and play, but when i enter a shop or building or even teleport to another city BANG! i get the client error! and when i restart i am in the shop or town but can't move unless i use a scroll! this happened after the recent patch btw! looking forward to anyones help!!

Now that I think about it, it wasn't until my most recent patch that the Xenclient.exe error started up on mine. Yes, it's happening to me too. I get to the server select screen, select the first one on the list, the only one on the list, and then it says Xenclient.exe has experienced an error and needs to close, resulting in going back to the log in page.

I was doing so good in it too... -_-

The driver doesnt cause the Xenclient.exe problem (but u got to have a driver who can run the game of couse), it just can't find the Xenclient so u gotta move the shortcut on ur deskop and move it to the Solstice folder so it can run the Xenclient from there.. it aint harder..

Yes! First I tried shutting down my firewall, then I downloaded direct X 9.0 did a "clean reboot" to see if it was some program interfering with the client loading. It wasn't xD What else could it be that keeps SoS from opening?

wait wait...first is ure computer file a admin or limited? i tried a limited ccount and it dosent work for me so in order to make it work. or either ure router is down. also the second chace is maybe ure graphic card is conflicting with the game.

everyone his the log in/freezing/xlient problem.


everyone is basically answering eachothers questions and all they are is just other game players. SoS needs to make a new update ASAP to fix everything!!!! what are they doing :(

Yeah, it was definately working until I updated it. Now it keeps getting the Xenclient.exe error. This is bothering me 'cause I play Fiesta too, and it works fine.

Weird thing. When I tried to get in, it gave me the error. I changed my password and I was able to go to character selection.. only problem was all my characters were gone. Sweet? Hm. I also clicked "create" and it gave me the error. Something's fishy, and it's not my dinner. Hm.. may as well wait till tomorrow to see if this problem is sorted out.

this suks,i been encoutering this problem since the last 3 patches. Reinstalling the game works everytime. Howerever i have to wait 5 bloody hour 4 patch to update ***. Can gm pls look into this, solve this bug or at least incease update speed. Worse patch update speed ever this game.

Well, just gettin into list, i was really looking forward to play this game, before i started to DL it i read forums and encountered all this problems and i was praying to being lucky and waitin' HOURS patching but prrrrrrrr.... Xenclient error even before get in game, it crash on shooting game on image cache phase, please fix it soon!!!

Bump. Got this problem too after the patch now :( Second reinstall ongoing, so far no worky. Could the Outspark people PLEASE consider adding the patches thus far to the installer??!

Edit: Third reinstall ongoing... it almost seems as if the patch downloader doesn't check for file integrity...

Edit: Against all odds, third reinstall did the trick. I did only get a few disconnects during the whole process, so maybe that helps to explain why..

I know this thread is a little old, but since i've encountered this problem for the first time, and hopefully i've found one solution to it, i'll post it here.

The only way to fix the "XenClient.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We apologize for the inconvenience." is to remove your game, and then also delete the file of the game itself that was downloaded.

I believe what occurs when the client crashes like this is that possibly after reinstalling it more than once, the .exe file actually gets corrupted.

You can tell if it's corrupted through 2 ways.

1) the .exe file is a mini window that's completely white, what it should look like instead is taht it should have the logo of SOS or the program that was downloaded. Such as "Secret of the Solstice....exe." like that.

2) When you hit reinstall and the game begins installing from new, instead of the word "Extract:....." in the white box, you will see "Delete:...." that happened to me, and after installing and reinstalling 3 times, i kept an eye on that and realized that it was actually deleting files/parts of the game itself. -_-'

So basically to fix the xenclient.exe crash, or error message there's no other choice unfortunately then to re-download the game file again, and install.

does anyone know what that is??? please tell me... when ever i start the game it pops up a lil window saying that need OpenGL 1.2 or higher to play or else it might not work properly..soo what the heck is that??

Well, I encountered the same problem as mentioned earlier - the error about Xenclient.exe upon confirming your server once the game starts up. Truth be told I did have a slight ominous feel when I realized there was a new patch. :) 3 years of WoW (thank god I finally got myself out of it :D) and still each patch day for blizzard (a rather large company at that... no joke) are still ridden with login, authentication and overtime problems. So I didn't come in expecting everything to be working in perfect order for the first few days after the patching for solstice. I do find it hilarious (though slightly understandable) that people would get angry (lol rants) about a game they didn't even have to pay for... I mean cmon - its not like you're losing 50 cents a day for not being able to raid...

That being said (stealth rant) I did read what bearbugs010 said about fixing the client and tried it. It did work. What I did was (since I have the game and the original client saved on an external) I reopened the install client, and selected for it to install in the same folder where my current Solstice files are (so basically reinstalling, except without the uninstall). After this, I opened the outspark client and it patched a few more (starting from 208514 I believe, not sure if that was left out in the initial thing, or just needed to be downloaded again). Afterwards everything worked fine. Hope this helps.

I keep having the same problem. As soon as I choose the server it crashes. I've done everything that was recommended and still no luck. I finally just uninstalled it. Looked like a good game, but I guess I'll never know. =o(
